Yeah, I've struggled a bit with Kenny back in H.E.A.T. I'm to the point where I still feel like they're pretty good and probably better than a lot bands out there....but they were so much better with Erik as he gave them something special and had that "it" factor. I mean, they definitely were my favorite band going next to Leppard so it was a big blow. With their new songs I keep finding myself thinking that they're pretty solid but the song would sound so much better with Erik singing. I plan to give H.E.A.T's new album a solid shot though and really looking forward to the new Skid Row album as I think Erik will kill it. They really could do a fantastic melodic hard rock album if the songs are there IMO. Talk about tragedy turned to triumph. Awesome story! I think you feel the same way that Heat is just not the same without Erik. I've listened to the 4(?) songs they've released already on their newest album and while the last one HOLLYWOOD was probably the best so far I can honestly take it or leave it which is a shame considering how good the albums were with Erik. I haven't paid much attention to Skid Row in a long time but definitely will with him in the fold. I had posted a ways back that I was looking forward to attending Skid Row in PA back on 5/22 and it ended up being a cool story I thought I'd share. First off, my wife and I made a 5 hour drive just to see the show. I've been a huge fan of H.E.A.T with Erik Gronwall and I think he's an awesome fit in Skid Row so couldn't wait to check it out. We got there early afternoon and checked in to our hotel. We dropped our bags off and as we left our room, my wife actually bumps into a guy right across the hall from us who was just checking into his room. He turns around to say sorry and low and behold it's Erik Freaking Gronwall! He immediately commented to me "Nice Shirt" as I had a H.E.A.T shirt on and we chatted for a few minutes. Now I have met and chatted with him a couple times before when HEAT played in Chicago and on the Monsters of Rock Cruise so it wasn't the first time we'd met. But all those were just pretty brief encounters and I doubt he really remembered me. Either way, we snapped a picture and told him we'd see him at the show and left to go eat thinking that was a pretty cool chance encounter and that we'd likely not see him again as the show would be over late. We grabbed an early dinner and then headed to the venue. As we got there, the heavens opened up and a driving rain came down for about 15 minutes. This was only about 4:00 though and the sun quickly came back out so we didn't think much of it. The gates to the show were set to open at 4:30 and we thought we'd be good. Well, 4:30 came and went and we stood there until about 5:00 when an announcement came that the show was cancelled because the driving rains ruined a substantial amount of equipment. Needless to say we were pretty bummed after driving 5 hours for nothing. So we made our way back to the hotel. As we waited for the elevator to head to our room, the doors opened and Erik steps out of the elevator. He immediately starts apologizing for the show being cancelled as we had told him when we saw him before we had traveled a pretty good distance to see the show. He then tells us that he'll be in the hotel bar in about an hour and to come down so he could buy us a drink. Well, we of course had to take him up on that and headed down to the bar. I did see Erik in there talking to some people as we went in but we just sat down and kind of minded our own business. Sure enough, after about 10 minutes, Erik comes over and says hello and makes good on his promise to buy us a drink. He then sat down next to us and we chatted about all sorts of stuff from music, to family, to his battle with leukemia. I also had a battle with cancer when I was close to his age so we had that in common to talk about. And of course I told him that I'm hoping to see Def Leppard and Skid Row on a bill together at some point in the future! He said that would be freaking amazing After about 45 minutes or so, more guys from the band stroll into the bar and Erik says to us to come with him and he would introduce us to the band. He then takes us over and introduces us to the guys and we stood around shooting the breeze with the band members. All the guys were super relaxed as there were literally about 15 other people in the bar the entire time and I think most of them were probably associated with the band in some capacity. After what ended up being a few hours and the bar was getting ready to close, Erik again comes over to us. He says...."You guys are from Upstate NY, right?" I tell him yes and he then says they will be playing a show near us on September 17th that hadn't been announced yet and he hoped that might work better for us than making the 5 hour drive back to PA for the future rescheduled show. I thanked him for the information and for the awesome time and we headed back to our room talking about how lucky we were that the show got cancelled! Erik is absolutely a class act and one of the nicest guys you'd ever want to meet. Frankly, all the guys in the band were super nice. I'd say Scotti Hill was probably the guy I talked to the most outside of Erik and he was just a pleasure to talk to also. Just wanted to share the story as I thought it was pretty neat! It wasn't quite bumping into Def Leppard in the hotel bar but still pretty cool And today I did get tickets to that show Erik gave me the lowdown on that's happening September 17th....Front Row, dead center!

Saw Duran Duran last night at Hyde Park London. Brilliant, great mix old new songs. Quite rocky in places. Sound fantastic, people have complained Hyde Park not loud enough, worked for me.
DD were the best of my summer tour of shows, Maiden very good but set bit ploddy in places.
Metallica very good played my two bucket list songs, Harvestor and Sanitarium. Het looks happy and healthy, in 2019 when saw them last he looked neither.
Fest in Barcelona, great city and smallish fest, ticked Alice Cooper and Judas Priest off bucket list. KISS undertook headlining duties, ticked the boxes. Megadeth started well, faded, Mustaine is a moron.
No more gigs for a while. Summer 2023 will be all Lepps, work year finishes 23 June, then Europe ahoy. Fingers xx early 2023 they do Asia and co~incides with my holidays.

Saw the Electric Boys last night. I’ve been a fan of these since I saw them supporting Thunder 32 years ago and I never miss an opportunity to go and see them when they play in the U.K. I even went to watch them support Dan Reed a few years back. In the early 90s they got a lot of play on MTV and their first 2 albums were well backed by vertigo at the time, they even saw their debut album being re-released with brand new songs produced by Bob Rock. Unfortunately (like many bands) grunge came along and that was that. However since reforming in 2009 they’ve put out 4 more albums and are one of my favourite bands that no one seems to know about or remember any more.

Sooooooo, I have had some interest in Ghost for a bit now. I have listened to a song here or there, but never really sat and immersed myself in an entire album or anything like that. I decided I was going to fly over to Austin and see the show based on the " That looks like an interesting, theatrical show." I highly suggest any of you who can go see this band, do so! The performance was better than expected, the music steals the show! There are I think nine people on stage. The harmonies and dueling guitars ( all though its 3 or 4 guitarist playing live, so not duel?) are all the things as Lep fans we all love!!! I have since listen closely to the newest album, and the guitars are very reminisce of Lep to me at least. So much so I am flying to New York to see them again on Saturday. I can not overstate how impressive the live sound and performance is for this band. Anyone else have comments on Ghost? Anyone else see them?

Never seen Ghost headline, but seen them open for Iron Maiden and Metallica 6 times. Put on a good show, whether they can translate that to 90 minutes don't know. Ghosts success rarity in recent times for a newer band. Enjoy.

I was aware of them before this year, but started streaming Impera after it started getting compared to Lep in terms of songwriting & production. From there I fell down the rabbit hole completely and bought all of their albums. I like the more recent stuff more than the early stuff but enjoy pretty much everything to some degree. And I'll have my first Ghost concert experience in a few weeks when they play Peoria, IL. From what I've seen of their live stuff online (and from their live album), I can't wait and expect a great show. Really hope they do another live album pulled from this tour.

I’m also a rather new big fan of Ghost. Also being from Sweden I’ve been aware of them for a long time, but didn’t quite ”get” them until their fourth album Prequelle and the hits Rats and Dance Macabre. I really liked about half that album so it wasn’t until this year’s Impera I became a big fan. I feel the same about Impera as I do Diamond Star Halos, it’s a strong album from start to finish, not a single track I skip. It’s very much based on really strong melodies and just like Def Leppard, and currently it’s my favourite band alongside Def Leppard. Sooooooo, I have had some interest in Ghost for a bit now. Next up for me is Skid Row on Sept 17th. I'm actually never seen Skid Row live before so looking forward to this one. I somehow never caught them back in early 90's when they were at their peak and then they fell completely off my radar when Bach left. I tried to see them back in May but the show got rained out.
I'm back on board now being a huge fan of Erik Gronwall and what he's bringing to the band. I've dug the new material they've put out and also looking forward to their new album due out next month.

I’m considering seeing them in October now that Erik is in the band. I was lucky enough to see them in 1991 supporting GnR at Wembley stadium and arguably they were as exciting as the headline band were. I saw them again headlining on the Slave to the Grind tour when they broke arenas in the U.K. Their first 2 albums are classics to my ears and Erik is the first singer since Bach to do the songs justice.

Ghosts success rarity in recent times for a newer band. Enjoy. I was thinking the same thing about the 90 minutes. However, I knew every song they played, and as I mentioned that surprised me how many I was familiar with. only thing is the arena had the entire upper deck closed off and was probably 2/3 full. Trying not to throughout spoilers, but anyone going to see them stay to the very end. Last five songs or so they definitely step it up some. I sat in the. stands last week, I will be front and center on the barricade this weekend Like my 50-year-old self needs to be there. Thats another thing I liked a lot. General admission floor tickets!!!!!! No chairs! The way a rock show should be, in my opinion.

Saw Skid Row, Warrant and Quiet Riot this past weekend. I had been looking forward to this for awhile and been wanting to see Erik Gronwall live with Skid Row as I've been a huge fan of him and his work with his previous band, H.E.A.T. I thought the show was excellent with my only complaint being I wish they'd have played a little longer than 50 minutes as the headliners on the bill. Either way though, was a great time and Erik has really infused some life into the band. There were many people buzzing after the show with how well the "new guy" did singing. I definitely could see this band having a bit of a resurgence and would be great seeing them on a Def Leppard bill in the future.....Leppard, Tesla and Skid Row sounds like a killer lineup to me Anyways, I recorded front row video of the show if anybody might like to check it out. The highlight for me is about 1 minute into the video when Erik sees me, points and fist bumps me. We had spent some time together back in May when a Skid Row show I had tried to see got rained out but we were at the same hotel and ended up hanging together a bit in the hotel bar. As for the video, it's kind of tough recording a guy who moves all over the place from the front row lol but did the best I could

Well just got back from NY, with a little covid for my trip, but saw Ghost again. This time I went on to the floor just a few rows from the stage. I cannot say enough about how friendly and wonderful this fanbase is. They dress up and look like the toughest people on the planet, but I talked to many, and they cannot be more polite and friendly. Band was great. Now I get to move on from Ghost to Harry Styles? First concert I am bringing ear plugs for! expect a lot of screaming females!!!!!!!!! Wish me luck on this one.

Got to see DL, MC and Poison in Denver this summer. And i saw Loverboy, Reo Soeedwagon and Styx in Portland.
DL experience i wrote about on the show page.
Loverboy i have been listening to for some years and i went to the show because i wanted to see them live. A bit dissapointed if im honest. Leadsinger was imo so outta shape that he had trouble singing properly. And they didnt really play the songs i wanted to hear.
REO is a top notch band. Great songs and musicians. Felt a bit like some guys in jeans and t shirts that happend to have some great songs.
The last comment was made more in reference to Styx’s huge show. They are an incredible live band and they are such a cool act. Musicianship is incredible. They have two lead singers and a vast amount of excellent songs. A band i used to riddicule for being lame! But if one tries to be open to new music they are an incredible band that has a bit of everything.
Next up is Counting Crows back home in Norway in october. Loved them when i was a teenager and saw them in early 2000 and it was a great show. So really looking forward to that.

Going to see Shinedown in Anaheim tomorrow. Not thrilled with the setlist or Jelly Roll as the opener. Will give them credit for playing 4 songs off their new album Planet Zero. Don't really care for the album so for me personally it's not a plus. Only 1 original song from their first two albums is disappointing.
Can only hope Shinedown ends up doing the Deep Cut tour that was canceled due to Covid in the near future.
Somehow missed the announcement of Alanis Morissette show for tomorrow at a nearby casino. Been wanting to see her for awhile and would've passed on Shinedown to go.

Last week I saw Geoff Tate play at a local venue, no way was I going to pass up this tour which sees him performing the 2 classic Queensryche albums Rage for Order and Empire in their entirity... or so we thought. This is the second time I've seen him play near me and its very intimate, it only holds about 350 and yet again it looked pretty full to me. However, for some reason they cut the show short, dropping 2 tracks from Empire, not even doing an encore and they seemed to leave the stage very abruptly. I don't know why that was, maybe it was because they were having some sound issues with the left speaker stack, there was some feedback at times during the second half of the set and at the end there was some weird popping noises from it. There was a definite difference in sound between the first half of the set and when they came out to do Empire, it seemed less full to my ears if that makes sense. But certainly on stage you could see that some of the band weren't happy with the speaker stack and were gesturing to the mixing desk. Overall I really enjoyed the gig, but this was probably the worst version of Silent Lucidity I've heard from him and his band, it just didn't sound right, almost out of tune to my ears. Speaking of the band, I notice hes had the same lead guitarist and bass player for a few years now, but the rest of the band seems to be a rotating slot. He only had 2 lead guitarists at this gig and I know hes had 3 at recent shows. The drummer in this incarnation of his band is playing an electronic kit which changes the sound too. Geoff seemed to show the strain a few times during the Empire album, understandable given the schedule hes playing on this tour. But even so its great to see him doing justice to these songs. I also really enjoy going to see the current incarnation of Queensryche, but its odd when I read Todd La Torre having thinly veiled digs at Tate by saying they still play in the songs original tuning, at some point age and time will catch up with him too and I hope he can still do as well in his early 60's. Because this show was cut short I might try and catch another one on the tour. 01 Walk in the Shadows 02 I Dream in Infrared 03 The Whisper 04 Gonna Get Close to You 05 The Killing Words 06 Surgical Strike 07 Neue Regal 08 Chemical Youth (we are rebellion) 09 London 10 Screaming in Digital 11 I Will Remember --------------------- 12 Best I Can 13 The Thin Line 14 Jet City Woman 15 Della Brown 16 Another Rainy Night (without you) 17 Empire 18 Resistance 19 Silent Lucidity 20 Anybody Listening? Saw this show on Oktober 2. They performed at the Bosuil in Weert (Netherlands). And for us 'old' people they started at 5.30PM. Fortunately they didn't skip any songs. Geoff sounded great. At the encore they played Queen of the Reich and Last time in Paris.

Well after some persuading I got tickets for Iron Maidens Future Past tour next year. I guess I can't pass up the chance of hearing some of the Somewhere in Time material and maybe even seeing the famous Eddies hands and cyborg head inflatables too. Thats what I expected to see in the set at the show I went, but unfortunately it didn't work out like that for some reason. I did notice that after the UK tour he had some kind of heart procedure.
