New Motley Crue single is dire. Cover of a Beastie Boys song, shouldn't have bothered. Ghost Impera album silver in UK 60k sales. I’ll take 5 more glamrock songs by Lep anyday over that godawful cover Crue just did. Sounds like a 80s office party cover band….

New Motley Crue single is dire. Cover of a Beastie Boys song, shouldn't have bothered. When they played it at the 2023 shows I saw, it was the song that got the best reception in their set I thought.

Live the song works at the end of the set, when I saw it thought it was ok. But Crue's recorded cover is not in the same league as The Beastie Boys. Think most Crue fans prefer an original rather than cover.

Back in Black single crosses triple platinum in UK, 1.8m sales.
Oasis are truly huge in UK, Glory has sold 5.2m, Def Maybe 2.7m, Here Now 2m, Time Flies greatest hits 1.9m, other studio albums 1.1m+ each. 17 dates go on sale today in venues averaging 70000ish, how many more will be added?
Oasis bit of a UK phenomenon. Glory 4P US, 8P Canada and Australia. Other albums not quite so well received. Not sure can do NA stadium tour, maybe Toronto, LA, New York. Europe 2026 could headline festivals.

I wasn't a fan when Chester was alive. But today the band LINKIN PARK got back together after 7 years apart for a LIVE Stream Concert. They have a New female singer and she is pretty awesome.
80 minutes later the show was over. I'll be checking out the bands new album in November.

Can't say as I'm a fan of them, but this news surprised me and didn't at the same time. Given the circumstances of his death and how hes highly regarded I thought the band would be done out of respect for him. But then again, other bands have successfully reformed, recorded and toured in recent years and done it respectfully. Also the touring market is so big now that a Linkin Park reunion would surely generate a lot of interest for fans.

I was also 1 of the almost 300K(!) people who watched this live on Youtube yesterday (talk about making an announcement!). I enjoyed the first few Linkin Park albums and was impressed by the performance. Chester brought a lot to the table and his voice was very distinctive so he definitely has some big shoes to fill. It's easy to tell when something like this is forced and in this case I think it seems very organic given the circumstances. Phil referenced them as an influence in some random interview in the early 2000's which I remember being surprised by. I wasn't a fan when Chester was alive. New Linkin Park ok, lacks something.
Iron Maiden Somewhere Back in Time album platinum in UK, 300k sales. In Australia Run to the Hills platinum, Trooper and Beast gold.
Dean Martin has lot of certifications in US this week for songs released going back to 1953, it can be done!

New Linkin Park single number 4 UK, almost 39000 sales, 95% streaming. Good luck to them. Journeys Anyway You Want It goes gold (400000) in UK, added 200000 sales in 4 years. Surprised at how popular it is in UK. Streaming inflation. The number of streams / sales needed to chart keeps going up, how many are real streams, how many linked to bots. Court case in US this week covers the issue. news.bloomberglaw.com/ip-law/ai-music-fraud-indictment-brings-scrutiny-to-streaming-inflation

My ear for music is fairly diverse, but it's ironic that even within the genre of 'rock' there's fine lines for these types of bands. You usually run into this on the back end with fans if you step outside that specific sound.
I actually enjoy a lot of alt metal/post grunge, but the scene is very different in every aspect from say the 80's hard rock/hair metal scene. Saw what I would say my first alt metal/nu metal concert with Breaking Benjamin and Staind co-headlining.
Daughtry opened and it was a solid show, even sold out. Being such a Leppard fan it's interesting seeing the differences in how the singers interact with the crowd, as well as how well they try to handle their songs in a live setting. I will say bands like this that tour together have a much more appealing tour/bill package as these bands were popular in the same decade, where as it can be tough waiting to see Leppard and sit through Styx...
Side note- I think Breaking Benjamin had the upper hand on Staind, but just my opinion.
