Agree...in terms of set list variations, or in the more specific example on their 2 night per city with totally different set, no band comes close to Metallica

Inamorata, new, a very limp No Leaf Clover and Call of Ktulu, instrumental, are combined 27 minutes which played back to back made for no audience reaction where I was stood. Add on the earlier Too Far Gone, new, and the horrible doodle Rob and Kirk do, it destroys the energy in the set. Problem Metallica have is they are supporting 72 seasons their weakest studio album since St Anger.

After seeing Def Leppard in Orlando on Wednesday, I roadtripped to West Palm Beach and Tampa to see the first two nights of the Sammy Hagar tour with Joe Satriani, Jason Bonham and Michael Anthony.
If you are a fan of the Hagar-era VH, I strongly suggest going out of your way to see this tour if it is anywhere near you. Over 20 songs, a ton of Van Hagar that Sammy hasn't done in many years (Judgment Day, 5150, Summer Nights)... if this is the beginning of the end for Hagar touring regularly, he is going out swinging hard.

Great interview with Luke Spiller of The Struts. It must have been conducted some time ago since it's from just before the latest album in 2023.

Saw Duran Duran last night at an open air venue in Athens, Greece, about 15000 attended. 22 songs, brilliant, absolutely nailed it. 16 songs where hits, other 6 good new songs or deeper cuts. Simon Le Bon was very good. Seen Duran 3 times, been impressed each time, this was the best I have seen them.

Saw Bruce Dickinson and Judas Priest in Athens last night, same venue as for Duran Duran last week but lot more packed, maybe 3000 more. Crowd very into Bruce, singing along, he delivered a good set. Priests sound was a bit off, their songs are hit and miss for me, Halford moved more freely around the stage than last time I saw them.
No gigs for me at moment, might do Nile Rodgers in September in Bangkok as venue is only 3km from where I live.
Fingers xx Leppard's 2025 European dates work for me, time to start saving!

New Bon Jovi US certifications issued today: Runaway gold and platinum. You Give Love goes from being not certified to 5 platinum. It's my life from 2p to 3p. Wanted Dead or Alive to 6p from 4p in 2015. Livin' prayer from 3p in 2013 to 10p, diamond platinum in 2024.
Left feels right gold. Crossroad from 4p in 1998 to 7p 2024. Slippery jumps from 12p in 1995 to 15p 2024
Vault last certified 2005 at 4p. Pyro 10p 2004. Should be 11p? Hysteria 12p 1998, 2024 should be 14?
Only one single certified, Sugar gold 2005. Should be 5p? Recertify!

Notice though that the 2 bands whoāve recently recertified have had a big promo push, AC/DC had their tour whilst Bon Jovi had their documentary. Bon Jovi recertification, questions posed elsewhere on how the hits from Slippery's streams have been apportioned for certification.
Livin', Wanted, Bad Name added 14 million in certified single sales or 1.4 million in equivalent album sales.
Both Slippery (last cert 1995) and Crossroad added (last cert 1998) added 3 million each, obviously many are traditional or download. RIAA rules state BJ can use the streams towards any of the albums they are on, so in theory BJ could add 0.8million to Slippery, 0.6million to Crossroad.
Journey chose their Greatest Hits which jumped from 15 to 18 platinum and Escape as Diamond (last certified 2019) as the beneficiaries of Believin' and Seperate etc and other songs adding 42.5 million streams (4.25m albums) since last certified. But we don't know how Believin' was apportioned as it added 1.3 million in equivalent album sales by itself!
If Lepps recertify, streaming can be divvied up to ensure certification levels are just met. Hysteria songs have more than 1 billion + Spotify streams, the hits 95% of that. For arguments sake say 1 billion Hysteria streams in US (include Apple Music, YouTube, Amazon etc) which is 700,000 equivalent albums would move either Hysteria (last cert 1998), Vault (2006) or RoA (2005). Pyro has about equivalent of 230,000 equivalent album sales in US from streams, last certified 2004.
Metallica last did big recertification in US in 2012, Black album 16p, Ride 6p, 2003 Master 6p, Justice 8p. Only Sandman gone platinum as single. Next time they certify Black could go double Diamond, and Diamond for Master and Justice as they don't have a traditional greatest hits. Black in US may have about 3 billion streams or 2 million albums, Master 0.7m album sales from streaming, Ride 0.6m, Justice 0.5m.

Canāt let this massive news pass.
Arguably one of the best and most consistent voices in rock (that I can think of anyway) has had to call it a day. Quite sobering really. Eventually it comes to every band.
I only saw them once, ten years ago at Download. Pity I didn't see them in their prime back on the Pump or Get a Grip tours, but I have to say they were still really good when I saw them.

This made me so sad. Now I'm kicking myself for not seeing them while we were in Vegas in 2022. When I got my very first CD player Aerosmith was one of the first CDs I owned. I feel bad for Cheap Trick, they had a bunch of dates with Heart and were cancelled due to Ann's illness, and now this. Their booking manager has a lot of work to do now for their rest of 2024

Internet suggesting band politics.
UK is small geographically yet the 11 date tour with capacity of 125k was routed through Birmingham Nottingham, Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool playing arenas. Those cities are quite close geographically.
Think bit off more than demand merited. In UK only known for Don't Stop Believin which is 5 times platinum (3 million) then they have Seperate Ways and Any way you want it silver (200k). Greatest Hits album platinum 300k.
Maybe a routing of Wembley Arena in London which is 12k against O2 which can do 20k would have worked better. 5 dates instead of 11, London Birmingham Manchester Glasgow Dublin might have been better.

Some Blue Oyster Cult certifications Wednesday in the US: Don't Fear The Reaper single 6 x Platinum, it's first certification, do from zero to 6 x platinum. Has 565 million Spotify streams and initially charted at 12. Burnin' for you double platinum, has 168 million Spotify streams. Charted number 40 in US. Godzilla platinum, no chart information. Number Spotify streams 81 million.
B52s Love Shack gone triple platinum was gold in 1989. 328 million Spotify streams. Charted 3 in US.
Lepps recertify, as have very similar numbers for Animal, RoA, LB, Hysteria, Sugar, Photograph in US.

Scorpions did over 36000 tickets at their residency at Bakkt Theater in Las Vegas for their 9 show residency earlier this year. Total gross $4.6 million or about $126 per ticket. I thought they may struggle a bit but these are very good numbers.
Can see why Lepps will do another residency especially as their prices likely to be closer to $250 per ticket.

Metallica's cover of Whiskey in the Jar goes gold in UK (400000 sales), their 7th most Spotify streamed song at 460 million. Nice cover not sure why so popular.
Queens Who wants to live forever and Linkin Parks Paper cut went platinum in UK (600k).
One hit wonder Toploaders Dancing in the Moonlight 5 times Platinum UK (3 million).
A ZZ Top best of album gold (100k).

Saw AC/DC last night in Croke Park Dublin . Absolutely fantastic except for Angus playing 15min extended solo on Let There Be Rock. No criticism of his fantastic playing just felt it killed the atmosphere somewhat lol š. Good setlist for me and had seats high up but view was great. There was all age groups which is great to see and shows how their music has spanned the generations just like Leppard. Hopefully they have one more tour in them but I doubt it .

I realise this will probably be the last chance we get to see them, but I took a pass on this tour. Mainly because itās only Angus and Brian that are āregularsā and I felt that Iād seen them when they were good and wanted to keep those memories (funnily enough yesterday was the 33rd anniversary of their iconic appearance at Donington which I was there for). Great to hear that they were good though, pity things havenāt changed much with the extended guitar solo because it was boring back then. How was Brianās voice?

I'm hoping we get one more run in the U.S. Would be nice to see them one more time, even if it is just Angus & Brian now. Given what Brian went through, it is amazing he is performing as good as he is. I haven't seen them live since the Ballbreaker tour. As for Angus' solo, he was part of that era when guys took long unaccompanied solos. At least he doesn't do the shorts-dropping stripper bit anymore.
