I recently came across a band called Crazy Lixx by chance on Youtube. I hadn't heard of the band before. The band comes from Sweden and was founded in 2002. And the great thing is that they play rock from the late 80s and early 90s. Listen to the song Silent Thunder. If bands like this continue to exist, the rock style of the 80s and 90s will be saved for future generations.

Great band. Lots of good stuff coming out of Europe. Kissin Dynamite is another I really like. Their last album Not The End of the Road is among my favorites of the past 5 years or so. And from the UK, Midnite City is another one of my favorite newer bands that is embracing that late 80s sound. Their latest album In At The Feep End is fantastic. What do people think of the new Pearl Jam? I like it, but I wouldn't say it has any real stand out tracks so far for me? I loved Backspacer and this is probably my favourite since then, but I was probably expecting a harder, more rock focused album based on what they said before it was released. I do enjoy it though.
Listened to the new Taylor Swift too. I never really listened to her before Midnights (which I love), and I really enjoy more melancholic music at times, but 2 hours worth is a lot. Will probably try the shorter album rather than the Anthology version and see if that feels better. Although I have been told that I should definitely listen to 1989 and Red as well..
The new Black Crowes is still my favourite album of the year so far, and still enjoy listening to that. Been listening to the new Black Keys album as well.

I also really liked BACKSPACER, and until this album outside of that I have not resonated with much of anything post YIELD outside of a few songs here and there. The last 2 albums are a stark contrast for me as I think I listened to GIGATON twice and then put it down for good, and subsequently without even meaning to did not listen to really anything from them these last 4 years outside of a song here and there if it came on during a shuffle of my library. This album on the other hand has really grabbed me and haven't stopped listening since release. Not sure if it's the song arrangements (I like how several of the songs shift direction at the mid-point), the production, or that they have channeled the past somewhat in songwriting as well as a lot of soloing (probably a bit of all of the above). I pasted below the leadoff track that they just played live on Howard Stern - great performance and I really dig the middle 8 with this one. The solo is also just stellar! WAITING FOR STEVIE is also fantastic...I can't really think of anything they've done post the TEN/VS. era (outside of the B-sides) that makes me think about a song fitting on those albums, however this one for me is a big exception. The vibe/production/solo/outro absolutely makes me think of their early '90s output. REACT, RESPOND/WRECKAGE/UPPER HAND and the title track are also all really strong for me. Because of the new album I also revisited a lot of the past catalog these last few weeks, and I just realized they released an Atmos mix of the first 5 albums. I've really enjoyed listening to these in Atmos. I am eagerly waiting for Leppard to do the same. What do people think of the new Pearl Jam? Crue Dogs of War a banger! Second riff, monster! John 5 nails it.
New Pearl Jam, so so. Love title track, struggle slower Eddie warbling songs.

Impressed with the new Crue. Nothing groundbreaking but a solid effort with replay value for me.

Agree, it has John 5 signature, great riff, sounds fresh, but on the other side, it also has written all over: we are going to need a lot of vocal tracks to pull it off live

Was listening to an interview on Talk Shop Live earlier with Ed Roland from Collective Soul talking about their double album out next week. At about the 38 minute mark a fan asks who Ed would like to do a duet with and another fan brings up wanting to see him do a duet with Joe. Ed had some super complimentary things to say about Joe and thought I would share. Hoping the new double album is great also! The first single sounds like something this band would've put out in the mid-90's. talkshop.live/watch/O2ByzV2W5iDd

Popped into a local record store which is literally packed floor to ceiling with vinyl, hardly any room to get around and piles of it everywhere. I didn’t expect to buy much and came out £100 lighter, so I’m just working my way through these original beauties.

Really enjoying the new Eclipse single (which ironically is also a one off). Had no idea they also released another single earlier this year which is also excellent.
Great to see them back on track as I couldn't help but be disappointed with the album they put out last year. Every previous release has at least a few real standout songs on it with the exception of that one for me. It's even further a contrast as I would consider the previous album WIRED my favorite.
It sounds like they might tour the US this year also which would be awesome...hoping they hit the Midwest!

Agree! I was a bit lukewarm on the last album for some reason. Mostly just didn't find the songs all that catchy or memorable. I loved Wired though and this new one seems like a return to the Wired formula. I'm eagerly looking forward to the new Kissin' Dynamite album. I thought their last album was pure ear candy filled with catchy, melodic hard rock songs. They seem to be picking right up where that album left off with their new songs! Bon Jovi - Forever. Standard 21st Century Bon Jovi. Still wanting to be Bruce Springsteen but with flashes of the early days (Living Proof, Walls of Jericho).
Still, nice to have new music from a long term favourite.

Gave Bon Jovi a listen even though I've admittedly struggled with a lot of 21st century Bon Jovi. Dig Living Proof...for me that's the best Bon Jovi song I've heard in a long time. Legendary is okay as a nice, safe, somewhat catchy song. And I kind of feel the same about Waves and Walls of Jericho. Struggling with the rest though much like a lot of modern Bon Jovi. I'd still like more flashes of those early days instead of Countryish mid tempos/ballads. Although, I've had those same issues with some recent Def Leppard songs too lol....This Guitar, Goodbye for Good, Lifeless, Angels, etc. I'm willing to be a little open minded but guess I have my limits! At the end of the day though any new music is better than no new music and good to see Bon Jovi healthy, inspired and still putting music out. Bon Jovi - Forever. Standard 21st Century Bon Jovi. This album I will say is light years better than the last one. It’s no slippery by any means or even keep the faith/crush, but I found some songs stuck in my head (seeds, walls of Jericho , living in paradise) which is rare for any new Bon Jovi for me.

I was planning to limp through this album today. It’s just not gonna be my thing based on what I’ve heard… oh, and the last 3 albums he’s done I can barely distinguish any of the songs. I give him complete credit for his talent and desire. His career choices and artistic choices are his, but we vote with our dollars. It sucks, listened to it on my way to work, I'll keep my memories of the Bon Jovi fro the 80's...

I don't know...he'd probably help some at least with vocals and guitar but their music was going downhill even when Richie was there. IMO they need a producer who isn't just a yes man and will tell Jon when something isn't good and push them to make more of a melodic rock album. They've just moved so far away from what made them so good in the first place....somebody needs to reel them back in. Jon will never do it though as he's the captain of the ship and likely doesn't think he needs any help. I have to agree, it sounds flat and forgettable. It's missing hooks and big choruses imo. I kind of agree here but the Richie albums still had fun songs with big chorus & memorable solos up to The Circle ( the last BJ album I listened to in it’s entirety). So he still had an input to the content in the albums . I’d also suggest that as Jon is now 60 he doesn’t have the same outlook on life at 60 as he did at 20, so your music change & he wears his Bruce Springsteen love like a badge of honour so it’s no surprise he’s changed his style so much. I remember Dee Snider being asked about a new Twisted Sister album once they reformed & he said unlikely as he no longer had a chip on his shoulder or was full of piss & vinegar. I do think this one is far better than anything I’ve heard since The Circle but as I say I’ve not heard that much. At the end of day if Jon is happy with what he’s producing and can eventually get out there and perform confidently then good for him. I’d rather live in a world where there’s new music from Jovi, the Leps etc than not.

Listened to it on my run this morning, and then again now. Struggling to understand what it is trying to be, and with his voice? It isn't the 80s/90s, but there isn't much left here that connects this music to that.
Will give it a few more listens though. Agree with the general sentiment, definitely better to have new music that no new music, but none of this is likely to join my list of Bon Jovi favourites at this point.

My opinion on the new Bon Jovi is the same as most recent stuff Jon has done. Without a Richie or a Bob Rock to push him, the stuff just doesn't get to that "next level" you expect from him.
As for the topic, been listening to the Van Halen Collection II, Invincible Shield by Judas Priest, the first Nelson album (way better than I remember it being back in the day), and pretty much all the Cheap Trick albums on Spotify.
