They’ve got a new album out haven’t they? Arguably the best pop band of the 80s!

the duran single invisible is good, takes a few listens, more like album track. weakest part is first 30 seconds, which for a single is bad news, song seems over produced. very pleasant surprise to hear new music today from duran. 7/10.
i now live in thailand with thai wife, music wife hears the most when we are in the car is duran duran, classic pop, followed by leppard. wife prefers poppier sound, not so much lamb of god!

Brad Whitford ‘Doubts’ Aerosmith Will Tour Soon…Or Ever Again Allison Rapp Published: June 5, 2021
According to longtime Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford, it's unlikely the band will hit the road again anytime in the near future. Speaking to on a recent episode of Joe Bonamassa's podcast, Live from Nerdville, Whitford noted that Aerosmith had originally plotted a 2020 European tour that was pushed back first to 2021, and now to 2022. "The European tour, they tried to plan one last year, and they're talking about next year," he said. "It's a pipe dream right now. Nothing's gonna happen for a long time. Sometimes I'm not sure what my partners are thinking when they think that's gonna happen." Some of the hesitation lies in the inevitable: the band members are getting older. "I mean, I have my doubts about Aerosmith ever really performing again at this stage," Whitford continued, "because age is becoming a real factor. And it is what it is." His bandmates agree there will come a point where the touring road ends. "We're not 25-year-olds anymore – we can't play as many shows as we used to," drummer Joey Kramer told Rolling Stone in 2016, two years after he collapsed onstage due to a heart issue that eventually required him to undergo surgery. "Steven [Tyler] can't sing two nights in a row or three to four nights a week — it's physically impossible. So it becomes a question of going out [on tour] less than we used to, or not doing it at all." Nothing has been set in stone, however. “A farewell tour is something we’ve talked about doing for years, let’s say roughly in the last five years,” guitarist Joe Perry said to Rolling Stone, also in 2016. “It’s just something the band’s talked about at various times. At this point, the five of us have never sat down and said, ‘It’s time to do it.’ So ‘considering’ is an appropriate word for that statement. A farewell tour is definitely not confirmed.” Source

Music news everywhere right now!
David Coverdale had confirmed that next year Whitesnake will begin their farewell tour. Hate to see them leave the road, though I am looking forward to catching a show. They are right up there with Def Leppard for me, so I definitely want take advantage if they're coming to my area.
In sadder news, Jeff Labar, lead guitarist for Cinderella passed away on Wednesday at age 58. He had struggled with drugs and alcohol for year so it was only a matter of time...still really sad though. It's safe to assume that Cinderella won't reunite ever again, which is heartbreaking as they're one of the few glam metal bands that I really enjoy. Monday would have been Eric Carr's 71st birthday and tributes poured in as the music word remembered his talent. Then to top it all off, Gary Corbett, KISS and Cinderella's touring keyboardist, passed away after a long battle with brain and lung cancer. He passed less than 24 hours after Jeff did, so obviously both the KISS and Cinderella camps are grieving. His wife has started a GoFundMe to cover medical expenses and funeral costs, so if you're feeling generous I'm sure she'd appreciate the support.
All in all a really sad week for music...

Whitesnake was a big influence on me back in the late 80's as a young musician. They always had a great groove and the heaviness that i like. David was such a monster at his peak. If you go farther back his blues influenced stuff was even better. As for retirement/farewell tour, David is about to hit 70 and by the end of the farewell tour likely 73. Must be hard on the voice which has suffered in the last 5 years or so. I am glad he got into the Hall of Fame back in 2016. If you look at his career he has made his mark with Deep Purple, Solo Band, 1000 versions of Whitesnake lol Love to see him do his farewell tour with Def Leppard

However on the other hand if he hadn't changed the Whitesnake sound then we wouldn't have got some of those great songs. But Whitensake are much more than the 87 album IMO, some of their early stuff is absolutely killer. Also his work with Deep Purple, especially the Burn album is essential listening, its so good.

Honestly didn't sound that bad at all. Sounds like a sore throat. His Range is there. But they cut the video off at the point of his high note which is sketchy. Journey -- last night during the We Love NYC concert. Arnel sounding rough.

I'm interested to see what this does for archive releases. Aside from an onslaught of hits compilations over the last two decades, nothing else has been done by the band or their previous labels to sustain interest in the band. They're my second favorite band of all time but my own interest has dwindled quite a bit thanks to few chances to see them live, no new music, and no other releases. I really hope this results in some proper box sets including a long overdue collection of all their b-sides and some unreleased audio/video from their vaults. And hopefully one last new album. I'm not holding my breath, but it would be nice.

acdc sold their catalog for a hefty $, so many songs can be licensed. the offspring got $35 million, lepps bound to be worth more than that.
less than 10 days to iron maiden's senjutsu, love eddie artwork, almost as good as book of souls. first two songs from album hit the spot.
at this stage any new maiden, metallica, acdc and def leppard should be savoured.

There have been a few big money deals recently for some classic artists music. Does it mean that all royalties from their music go to the band or the new owners of the music?
