Listened to Flick of the Switch a couple of times yesterday, many people compare RoB to FOTS. RoB is good but doesn't compare, FOTS sounds rabid at times, serious rock'nroll album.

AC/DC did 246,000 in Germany, biggest first week in Germany by any album in 7 years which is phenomenal. Black Ice did 230,000 first week.
In UK RoB did nearly 93K which is fantastic. In Australia 27,000.
US likely to be less than 150K. Will be interested in sales in Canada, would imagine on a per capita basis will be a lot higher than US, Canadians like their rock.

I hate to blow my own trumpet, but in this case I will I've been saying for years in relation to Leppard that there are huge markets outside the US and there are many countries who can give bands good sales figures if the time and effort is put in, and there you see exactly what I mean in Germany. Nearly a quarter of a million albums in one week is unbelievable. Saw my first Rock or Bust TV promo here in the UK the other night too, only a week late.

RoB did 92K in France. 246K in Germany, 93K in UK, Scandanavian countries to come, should do well over 600K in Europe. In US did 165K. 27K in Oz. Canada to come bet it does between 27-30k.
Maybe rock ain't dead yet. Hopefully exec's in France and Germany prioritise Leppard's new album.

blabbermouth were reporting that it did around 175,000 copies in the US. Quite a drop from Black Ice, surprising really but its those fans loss as I think that RoB is a better album though.

I love classic AC/DC, but find there last decade a bit hit and miss. In, fact Airbourne's last release was a better AC/DC album than AC/DC have done for years I thought.
How does RoB stand up then? Is it as good as some of their best, or is that the normal excitement of a new release which happens to us all?

They do Wembley on July 4, then aren't scheduled to July 9, so could do another Wembley show on 6th. Wembley will hold 80,000, first show would sell out super quick, second show especially on a Monday may take a bit of time. Gotta be on the field standing, worst shows I've ever seen in terms of crowd noise have been in London area. Saw Maiden at Twickenham and the O2, the latter was like a matinee, people sat the whole time barely murmured. I saw Maiden in Vancouver, couldn't get a floor ticket, had to get a seat, the crowd was rabid the whole time, excellent!
I will try to go Dublin and Glasgow, sure to be noisier.

AC/DC could sell out these big venues multiple times. Maybe they are seeing how initital sales will go before announcing other dates. Or maybe they will be back for a second leg the following year. Either way what they are doing now is not enough to satisfy demand, what a position to be in.

And now all these clowns on the secondary ticketing websites selling tickets at treble the price. I got annoyed for about 5 minutes, then realised if I can see AC/DC on Glasgow on June 28, but not on July 1 or 4, that means I can see more Def Leppard and Iron Maiden, so not such a big loss really

Heres the opening song, Reckless, from the Manchester show I recently went to. This song didn't make the final cut of the Reckless album. I like it.

Not sure I'll check it out in theaters. I might if it's here in my city, but I won't be travelling like I had to for Viva Hysteria.
Hopefully this will be a proper live DVD/bluray and not have freakin' interviews spliced throughout the show like their last two DVDs.

Picked up Flick of the Switch this weekend. This was their 3rd album with Brian Johnson after Back in Black and For Those About to Rock and I was surprised that there is no real stand out anthem on there, maybe apart from Guns for Hire. Reading the notes and they made a conscious decision to ditch the big name producer (Mutt) and do it themselves and take it back to basics, based on my few listens this weekend I think that was a mistake. The albums missing something that the previous 2 with Johnson have, not only in terms of a strong song but its production too.
