I have some info about the song:
It's named "73" (or at least it was).
It's written by Dave Bassett (who co-wrote "Kick" with Phil), Phil Collen and Joe Elliott. They wrote it during the DSH sessions but didn't 100% finish it in time for that album.

Listened to this twice and hoping I don't get a phone bill for £100! Glam element has been commented on. Stand out aspect for me is that Joe's vocal delivery sounds harder, more aggressive and more gravelly than on recent albums. Hoping this points at a potentially heavier or punkier song than it sounds in the short clip. If this is the one with Tom Morello, that feels likely. I thought the same thing "I better not get charged for this". Ha ha ha

I've heard the snippet and the drum loop gives you the 70's glam rock feel that C'mon C'mon evoked, (for the record I'm a big fan of that song). Looking forward to hearing the whole thing. Of course its great to hear new music, but I'm not keen on tracks being released on their own as they easily get lost to the winds these days, like the 3 tracks off Mirror Ball for example. I love the old school marketing idea of calling a hotline, I used to spend a fortune back in the early 90's listening to the fan clubs latest news phone line they had.

I totally agree with you on "stand alone" tracks getting lost. If a track doesn't end up with a proper place on an album, I always end up forgetting about it. It's like it just floats around without a proper home in my brain lol. I’m ok with stand alone tracks as a lot of my favs do them now. Tbh what bugs me more is when a band does multiple stand alone songs over the course of 1-2 years and when they do release the album those are on it. A new album imo should not have a song that was released well over a year ago ( looking at you bring me the horizon) it dulls the experience for me at least.

I’m guessing they will play the new song today. What time are they playing? Live streamed on Sirius xm?

I thought it was creative to make an ad that looks like it belongs in a magazine 40 years ago to call in a number and get a sneak preview of the song.
Everything about it calls back to an age gone by and reminded me of the SLANG days when we were downloading (very slowly!) sound clips from those songs that were not the greatest sounding quality to get a first listen to the new music.
I was not planning to call as I didn't want to hear any of it before we got to hear it in full, but ended up caving and listened once. What I liked was Joe's vocal - a lot of high energy and attitude. "Light up the fuel" is a great lyric and maybe at a great time as they are looking to celebrate Pyro's 40 years. Would've been a great song title if that's not what it is!
It's hard to tell much else with the quality, however it did sound glam. While that's certainly not a knock on the song and we certainly haven't heard enough to form opinions on it, I wouldn't expect a song advertised like Pyro/releasing in a time we are celebrating Pyro and featuring Tom Morello to have glam elements to it.
Hopefully we are not waiting much longer to find out...this thing could be out any moment now!
As an aside with tonight's show, as it had so little notice and is a way to promote the tour it would be nice to see it broadcast somewhere!

Be interesting to see if its the full version that Zoe Ball plays today. When she premiered Kick and TWYW, it was edit versions that she played. I;d imagine the new single will pop up on Planet Rock today as well.

I don't normally listen to Radio 2. What a load of old sheet it is. Hurry and play the song so I can avoid James "only funny for being fat" Corden!

Don't like James Corden, waffling on. Sara Cox talks and says nothing, a vacuum. Tedium.

I liked it! Very summer , glammy. I wonder who will handle that Morello solo live?

Definitely way more glam than anything on Diamond Star Halos, which is no surprise I guess given the name! Feels like a rougher type of mix than DSH too, but I assume that is intentional to give it that retro feel?
The Morello solo fits well, but it is very simple. Like the touches at the end though as well.

Yes Zoe Ball, been overseas too long!
Like 73, loud, bombastic, summery, glam.
Appreciate moments like this, won't happen too often again.

Sigh, was hoping for something more TWYW - but after hearing the title, it sounded almost exactly as I expected it to - Back in Your Face meets C'mon C'mon, meets Kick. Enough with the Gary Glitter cosplay - it's creepy!

Intro from Joe on Radio 2.
"A song that incapsulates the spirit of that particular year, and the previous year".
