Woke up really early today and found out itβs already on Deezer (and other streaming sites probably as well). Listening to βNo You Canβt Do Thatβ now. It sounds a bit more High βnβ Dry-ish to me, a bit β70βs sounding. As do several of the other untitled demosβ¦ considering they wanted to make a futuristic sounding album, itβs easy to see why these demos were left behind.
I got a notification that my order has been dispatched. Living in Sweden I donβt expect it to arrive until maybe late next week. I also managed to find a copy of the Walmart splatter vinyl through a European seller, meaning lower shipping fees and no custom duties.

This is now on Spotify in the UK, you have to scroll down to Pyromania in the album section, it isn't listed as a new release, can be found under the super deluxe vesion.
Having listened to those 6 untitled demo's and also 'No you can't do that' it's no wonder none of them made the cut, absolutely none of them sound like anything that made it onto Pyromania.

Just listening to the demos on Spotify until I receive my physical copies. The tracks sound blues influenced to me. Interesting to hear it differently.

I've always said I'm a sucker for demos/working track/rough cuts and these haven't let me down. The out take of No You Can't Do That had strong AC/DC vibes going, but almost "later AC/DC" like Stiff Upper Lip. The Untitled's seem to me to have the EP/OTTN feel, and I felt like I was listening to some sort of Kiss and AC/DC mix. Wonder how much those would have changed in the Mutt process had they been used. Now onto to the Rough cuts!

This has been a fun listen today.
The demos are a great addition that as others have said definitely have a HND vibe to them and a couple are not dissimilar to riffs that are on the album.
It would seem they initially thought or considered NO YOU CAN'T DO THAT was worthy of making the album as the framework of the track is recorded and intact with largely the same sound of the final album sonically. While it's probably not some long lost hit, I do think there was potential here and could have been lifted with well written vocal melodies as they did throughout the rest of the album. Add in a great solo at about the 1:45 mark after the second chorus and perhaps some outro licks and you've got something here. I definitely caught myself tapping my foot to it.
The rough mixes are also a great listen to hear a lot of small nuances that you don't hear in the final cut. Random places also have missing vocals that add some variety.
The LA Forum show is of course excellent and having these live cuts from Germany are a nice supplement.
It's awesome to see these fully comprehensive releases and does a great job of encapsulating this era of the band. I can't wait to see what they have up their sleeve for the inevitable 40 year anniversary of HYSTERIA.

What an interesting listen. It feels like they originally had a HND 2 on their hands. I hear pieces of finished songs in the demos. In my opinion 5 and 6 are the best and a link to Pyro. Iβm not a HND fan (in relation to the overall discography) and Iβm glad they worked with Mutt to push it to legendary groundbreaking status.

I have received my box set and still await the half speed master. I purchased as this is my fav album of all time and to listen to the Atmos mix primarily. For the most part it is a great experience but feel that some songs muddy Joes vocals in the mix. It is also very quiet and needs to be cranked.. the demos were an Interesting affair and like what has previously been mentioned they sound like a continuation of HND. The rough mixes are nice to hear. I have still to go through the book and also to listen to the new Instrumental mix. I could have done without the live show as I already have this on previous outings. Would have been good to have seen some old tv interviews from the time, but I guess thatβs a licensing issue. However so far so good. Looking forward to the Hysteria effort in a few years, would love to hear a n Atmos mix of that and a fully remastered in the round blu ray. Which was supposed to have come out a few years ago.

Listened to the demos and rough mixes this weekend. I admittedly am not a huge fan of demos and much prefer live tracks when it comes to these deluxe packages. I don't see me relistening to it a lot, but it was interesting to hear the embryonic version of what would become Pyromania. As for "No You Can't Do That" I can see why it came in 11th (if it actually had a chance to make the album). There's potential in it, but it doesn't have the punch of the tunes that made it on the album.
I went back and listened to the full album in order after, and man, I really wish they would do a "Viva Pyromania" run and play the whole album live at some point.

Sadly not yet down here in Australia... So I only have what you find on youtube on the official Def Leppard page. But I've got to ask, are these demos deliberately cut short on the YouTube versions, or are those on the CD like that as well...? Because if so, I feel they are more than just incomplete, if you know what I mean. Anyway, I can't wait for my CD/BD Boxset to arrive. I already got my tshirt a couple weeks ago, so hopefully the rest will arrive this week before I go back to work on Sunday... π€ππ€ππ€

Having heard the Atmos mix streaming via Apple Music I'm very keen indeed to get a physical copy of it, but don't want to pay out for the whole box when it's really just this that I can't live without...in the assumption that there won't be a standalone Atmos release anytime soon, if anyone in the UK wants to do a deal for their blu-ray disc please PM me.

What is the "Half Speed Master" I keep reading about...? Was that something I missed when I ordered my box set...? Am extremely curious to see, and more importantly, to hear! Instead of the grooves being cut at full speed, they're cut at half speed, this then gives more detail to the grooves and in theory should improve some aspects of the sound quality. But apparently not all aspects....... heres a good article on it thats well worth a read: thesoundofvinyl.us/blogs/vinyl-101/half-speed-mastering
