This is indeed great news, I'm going for all 5 formats. Luckily, for my wallet, I have no interest in any other kind of merchandise. I almost pulled the trigger yesterday, but for me, living in Sweden, it got so expensive buying from the US, so I will wait for a EU seller in order to avoid high shipping costs and custom fees and what have you. Signed copy isn't that important either (I guess there will signed copies through the UK Def Leppard shop as well?).
Really excited about the demos, the untitled ones in particular...
Combined with the RSD release late April will be somewhat expensive:-)!

It looks like the songs on the Rarities disc are only available on the CDs not vinyl. Also, what are we expecting for the untitled demos? Are those going to be all unheard unreleased songs?? There are some demos on the vinyl, but if you want them all then its the boxset where they all are. Ok, LA Forum Again, no Seattle? Ok, and no vídeo conert, there are at least two, a matter of publishing rights maybe... But I think it's ok The Seattle show is identical setlist wise to LA, its a pity they don't have one of the earlier shows in the tour where the setlist was different. Right, it is the same, but at least is not the same show, although an earlier show should be better. Something I was expecting is a remix of the album without the keyboards and drum machines, that should be interesting to hear

Wow. Some great stuff there, and good to see some rough mixes on there. Like the t-shirts and the zippo, even though I don't smoke!

Def Leppard Announces 'Pyromania 40' Box SetDef Leppard will belatedly celebrate the 40th anniversary of their star-making third album Pyromania with a massive reissue featuring previously unreleased tracks, live footage and more. Pyromania 40 will arrive on April 26 in a variety of formats, including a four-CD/Blu-ray box, a one-LP half-speed master, two-LP black vinyl, two-LP colored vinyl, two-CD and digitally. It's available to preorder on the band's website now. The four-CD/Blu-ray box includes the remastered original album along with a full disc of demos, including an outtake of the album's 11th track "No You Can't Do That." It also includes live footage from Def Leppard's December 1983 concert at Germany's Westfalenhallen, a September 1983 concert at the Forum in Inglewood, California, several official videos and an instrumental mix of the album. A rough mix of "Photograph" with an unfinished vocal will hit all streaming platforms on March 1.Released in January 1983, Pyromania launched Def Leppard into the stratosphere, selling 10 million copies in the U.S. alone off the strength of hits like "Photograph," "Rock of Ages" and "Foolin'." It was the first Def Leppard album to feature guitarist Phil Collen and was produced by Mutt Lange, who had previously worked with the band on 1981's High 'n' Dry. "Pyromania is a really special album for obvious reasons," Collen said in a statement. "It was the first time we all worked together with Mutt Lange, and I was able to play with my incredible friend Steve Clark, who was such a gifted and wonderful guitarist. I am incredibly proud of the album and what we collectively achieved." Singer Joe Elliott added: "A labor of love and I loved every minute of it! Rediscovering dusty old cassettes which were brilliantly restored by Ronan [McHugh] and finding the long lost unfinished '11th track' was a journey only few of us are lucky enough to take ... what a trip!" finding the long lost unfinished '11th track' was a journey only few of us are lucky enough to take ... what a trip!" Well, that sounds definitely new. Also, no mention of the version of 'Too Late' as 'This Ship Has Sailed'. Any chance it's one of the untitled demos or 'Too Late' demo even though the current knowledge is that is was only played live on the '80 club tour? I'd be really interested to see how Mutt influenced that into the song we know and love today.

Sold out. I’m sure the overpriced version will soon hit everyone’s favorite auction site with an “affordable” starting price, if it hasn’t already.

Already two listed. US seller charging $250 and one from a UK seller for $100. Amazing.

Can anyone remember if the demos were done with an acoustic drum kit?

I'm a little underwhelmed with this. The Demo disc looks to be fun, but as others have mentioned, the LA Forum show has been officially released more than once now. Glad to get the Dortmund live tracks, but there has to be more out there they could have included from the tour.
As for the Blu-Ray, three mixes of the album is probably heaven for audiophiles, but I would have liked video content. Three MTV videos and two performances, all of which were already available on DVD (Historia)? Just feel like, again, there is more out there they could have included.
I'll probably pick it up at some point, since it is Def Leppard, but after I listen I'll just go back to waiting for The Collection Vol. 4.

If a full disc of previously unreleased material isn’t something to get excited about, The Collection Vol. 4 will not be an improvement.

I'm happy to hear the demos, but I'm a much bigger fan of live stuff. And I really just want the Collection Vol., 4 because the CD set looks so "unfinished" on the shelf right now. I need that bottom corner of the triangle.

None of the 30th, 35th, 40th or whatever anniversary have been very exciting. Really, the only thing about this set that mildly interests me is the rarities disc, and I'm willing to wait until the set gets released and can hear some reviews of the archive material before I drop some hard-earned money on this. Not shelling out a hundred bucks for a bunch of stuff I already have. Kestrel

I'm happy to hear the demos, but I'm a much bigger fan of live stuff. What kind of live stuff would you have wanted from this era? None of the 30th, 35th, 40th or whatever anniversary have been very exciting. Really, the only thing about this set that mildly interests me is the rarities disc, and I'm willing to wait until the set gets released and can hear some reviews of the archive material before I drop some hard-earned money on this. Not shelling out a hundred bucks for a bunch of stuff I already have. I get what you're saying about the releases so far, in the main they've been collating already existing material. But to be fair the first deluxe release of Pyro with a live album from the era was a bit of a new thing to hear for many. But it seems over the years they've been very reluctant to dig out real gems, having said that the Slang re-release was fantastic for including rough mixes and alternate versions, that was well worth the money. But I really don't think it can be overstated enough just how big a deal it is to finally get demos / alternate takes from one of the big 3 albums. Reality is as well that they've probably got more material lying around than just 1 cds worth of rare stuff, I'm convinced there will be more cassettes with daily's from the studio, various versions with different layers as the recordings progress, (think back to the recent private Hysteria auction for demo tapes). Given how they worked on Pyromania I think the bonus material will still be a layered recording rather than the band being recorded bashing a song out in the studio, (I hope I'm wrong), but either way I hope we get to hear it with less polish than the finished album and also maybe get some Pete and Steve goodness.

Having had some time to digest all information, the only criticism I have is having the new stereo mix and the instrumental version on Bluray only, not CD. I understand why the 5.1 mix and Atmos is Bluray only.
I don't have a setup for 5.1 or Atmos, although I can play them on my Bluray player connected to my TV, but it's not really 5.1 or Atmos since it's only my TV speakers. I'm not that interested in 5.1 sound anyways so...
It would have been great though to have the new mix (and the instrumental) on a traditional 2 channel CD to play on my regular stereo system. Hopefully they will be available on streaming platforms so I can stream them to my stereo set-up.
That's my only small complaint:-)

Photograph rough mix is now on Spotify
It sounds to me like it’s quite a way down the line to completion and is missing some of the touches that make it stand out. Like the reversed snare intro, joes I wanna touch you at the end and also lyrics in the verses and choruses. It doesn’t quite jump out at you like the finished version does, but its nice to be able to hear the riffs under the verses which to my ears sound a touch more heavy.

Definitely illustrates how extra touches and putting more work into a song can change and elevate it because to me the final version of the song certainly improves upon this version. Just our if interest, is there any information as to why the 40th aniversary is coming out in 2024 & not 2023 as it was released initally in 1983? I may have missed this information but just curious about the delay.

My guess would be because of release of Drastic Symphonies. They probably have a number of different types of release up their sleeves and may be looking to stagger and give eqch one space to breathe. Maybe one 'big' release a year. So for example 2025 is volume 4 boxset, 2026 possible new album, 2027 Hysteria 40 Yr. Just our if interest, is there any information as to why the 40th aniversary is coming out in 2024 & not 2023 as it was released initally in 1983?
