Very good concert. Neil is celebrating 50 years of performing. Voice is still strong. He sounded fantastic from the FB videos that you posted.

Very good concert. Neil is celebrating 50 years of performing. Voice is still strong. He sounded fantastic from the FB videos that you posted. From Joe's 1992 tour diary (about the Nov 7th, 1992 Pittsburgh show).. "But it has to be said that Pittsburgh is a very important area for us, so we weren't too happy about not playing there. So after much research, it turned out that good old Neil Diamond had this transportable roof. So we rented it off him for a not-too-shabby fee, and hey presto! - Def Leppard in Pittsburgh!"

We went to the Iron Maiden show in Brooklyn Friday night. It was my first time seeing Maiden live and I was mesmerized. They were amazing - what a show! We had to leave a little early to catch the last train upstate (which ended up being late anyway so we could have stayed!) but the place was rocking when we left. What a following.
I had heard really good things about Ghost and had heard a song or two along the way but I was blown away by them Friday night and have listened to nothing else since.
What an experience - AND as others may have noted previously, Rocket and Animal were both played over the PA between Ghost and Maiden. I wish I could do Friday night all over again lol.

Went to see Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers last night. Great show and only had 1 glitch when no sound came from the stage during 1 song!! Once they fixed it, the song got replayed and ended with fireworks going off!!! (Rant) I've been to many concerts this year and this is the first time I've gone to one that changed policy 30 minutes prior to the gates being opened and received text message from ticket master about the same time regarding bag/camera policy change for the venue. (no cameras allowed and nothing larger than a small wallet). It would have been nice to know earlier than having over 75% of the crowd waiting in line to have to go back to their vehicles to drop things off due to policy changes. (sigh... I guess now's a good time as any to upgrade to a smart phone so I can at least be ready for the next concert in a couple weeks.)

The topper was when the venue offered to hold purses/backpacks etc. at a nearby location for $20 to be picked up after the show. Just glad I paid the extra for garage parking which was just across the street. Just wish they would have given at least 24 hours advance notice.

The restriction on small bags is becoming so prevalent lately that I just pack my ID, a credit card, a car key and my phone. Sometimes some lipstick, but that's about it. I've never liked carrying my big purse to shows anyway-no where to put it but on the nasty floor!
Anyway-I got a wild hair and decided I wanted to see GnR. Only the closest they were playing is about 6 hours away in Satan's Arm Pit , Washington on Labor Day Weekend. Ummm...no. So a friend mentioned he had tickets to see them in Vegas so I dialed up my girfriends and asked if they wanted to do a weekend in Vegas. Had to twist their arms real hard. So November 17th we'll see Axl and the Gang.
After that, I get to go see the AAA Girls (awesome drag queens) in September and then it's crickets till I see Billy Joel in December.
Of course, next week the State Fair starts and it has a mix of acts. Kenny Loggins, Vince Neil, Joan Jett, and Eddie Money this year are the non-country performers. Also the Salem Symphony is performing the music of Pink Floyd. So for the cost of admission I could spend a couple hours and a beer on a hot summer evening. Probably would skip Vince, tho.
We were missed by a lot of tours this summer. Had to travel to go see Queen-but that was worth it. The Struts were playing outside that venue, couldn' t see them but did get to hear a bit, wish I'd been able to see them.
