They are real, they are raw, and they are very, very entertaining. Played I think 4 or 5 new songs which I'm assuming will be on the upcoming album. Justin Hawkins is just one of those characters you can't take your eyes off, and funny as anything. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Good to hear you liked them. I've enjoyed The Darkness from when I first saw them supporting Leppard on the X tour. They are an excellent live band and I'm glad they made a comeback.

Yeah last night was the third time I've seen them, but this was in a much more intimate setting. I nearly got knocked over by Justin as he crowdsurfed through the audience on the shoulders of a security guard - and I was halfway to the back! I'm also glad they came back, I much prefer One Way Ticket over Permission To Land (which I know I'm in the minority on) so when they left, in my opinion they were still on their way up. Hot Cakes is up there with my all-time favourite albums, a classic, (She's Just A Girl Eddie - brilliant) and I do like the newest as well.

I really rate their one album 'Silver Spoons and Broken Bones'.

Never had the album though, will need to check it out!

It's been a great couple of months with Stevie Nicks, two Last In Line shows, Y&T (awesome show!), Poison and Jackyl, and Skid Row and Winger. Today I leave for Concord NC for Carolina Rebellion! I'm not sure about this festival thing, and I think I'd rather be seeing DL in Charlottesville tomorrow, but I'm just thinking of it as a new adventure! 🙂

Saw Iron Maiden last night on their first date of the UK tour at Nottingham Arena. I absolutely love Iron Maiden, they are one of the few bands around that when you go to see them that you feel part of the family, I can't put my finger on what it is that they do, but it just adds to the sense of it being an event when you go to see them live. This was their first arena tour in the UK for about 6 years I think and having seen them twice since then at the Download Festival it was good to see them in an environment that they have more control of, the sound for instance was perfect. Their musicianship is never in doubt, its just the acoustics of an arena show are much better than being in a field watching them. We speak on here many times about how Def Leppard is a collective and you could stand anywhere near the stage and focus on any band member because they don't have just one focal point, its the same with Maiden. Bruce Dickinson is one of the best rock frontmen ever, but equally Steve Harris is too in a way, his stage presence and enthusiasm is one of the best I've ever seen for any bass player and even any guitarist for that matter. You can tell hes a real driving force behind the band. Setlist wise it wasn't too different to last years Download Festival, with a couple of changes seeing Hallowed be thy Name and Tears of a Clown dropped for Wrathchild and The Great Unkown. They played 6 from their latest Book of Souls album and personally I thought a couple of the new ones didn't work that well live, namely The Greater Unknown and Death of Glory. Of the older tracks you can't go wrong with many of them. Songs like Wratchild and Fear of the Dark seem to be setlist standards that arguably could do with a rest, but they always go down really well. Of course I would have liked to hear some more old ones too and with such a rich back catalogue its hard to do it all justice every single tour. Visually everything was there from fireworks and flames to the walking Eddie and the usual massive Eddie behind the drum kit during the final song of the main set. Overall fantastic, one of the best live rock bands around that always put on a great show musically and visually. If Eternity should Fail Speed of Light Wrathchild Children of the Damned Death or Glory The Red and the Black The Trooper Powerslave The Great Unknown Book of Souls Fear of the Dark Iron Maiden ---------------- Number of the Beast Blood Brothers Wasted Years

Last night went and saw Marc Cohn in concert here at home. After Rockville and Atlanta, was a great time to just chill and listen to some blues and relax for the evening.

Saw Kizz tonite.
I am kinda of a big fan of kiss. Love the 80s stuff.
But hearing Paul Stanley was just awfull. I have heard nights where Joe was not on top. I was for example at a show where they dropped photograph because joes vokce was shot that night. But that was not even close to hearin stanley tonite.
Ive seen them several times before and he has bren good before. I luve that band, but he needs rest for sure.

Hall & Oates and Tears for Fears were both fantastic! Since our tickets were free, we were in the upper level, however, during Hall & Oates we moved to the lower level. I've been a fan of both bands for years and both have been on my bucket list. I would pay to see them again. Tears for Fears did a great cover of Billie Jean. I'm getting ready to upload my videos from this show on my youtube, as well as my Tom Petty videos.

Electic Boys have announced a UK tour for November this year. Its a 25th anniversary tour to commemorate their second album Groovus Maximus, this was also their last album on a big label and produced the singles Mary in the Mysterty World and Groovus Maximus. That album was a constant on my cd player back then along with the big albums of the day like Adrenalize, the black album, Use your Illusion, Slave to the Grind.... etc. I'm a big fan of theirs and I think they are really under rated. Can't wait for the tour.

Gutted to hear the news coming out of Manchester at the Ariana Grande show last night. I was following the story and stayed up late before anything was confirmed, so to wake up this morning to the news that there were fatalities at the show is terrible. Going to concerts is something that we take for granted and this is a venue and city many of us on here know very well too. Awful news.

And 90% of the crowd are teenagers ffsake. So horrible.

Last night I was at Simple Minds Acoustic at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester. Despite it being a sell out, there were many empty seats. I can only assume that some people didn't think it was worth the risk. Manchester was very quiet in general, with a very sad vibe. Jim said some very nice words at the beginning, and we had a minute of reflection. His voice was superb all the way through and he danced around the stage for the whole set. Magnificent energy. I loved the way he chatted between each song - wish Joe would do that Don't You Forget About Me went down well obviously, and Alive and Kicking took the roof off at the end. No one will stop me enjoying music the way I like it - loud and live.

This is a random assortment of shows for sure (a little on the soft side). Not necessarily entirely reflective of my musical tastes, but sometimes the concert experience is more about the people you are going with than the show itself. Wish I had another Leppard show this year to round out the list, though! U2 - June Sheryl Crow - June James Taylor / Bonnie Raitt - July Blondie / Garbage - August GooGoo Dolls - August TLC / Montell Jordan / Naughty by Nature - September
