Been listening to the Hysteria 30th. One thing that's struck me from my listening is how much I like the second half of that album now.
Also, just got the new Degreed album....Like it a lot...Another solid effort from these guys.

These days I rarely discover new music to be honest. However, yesterday I checked out this new young band called Greta Van Fleet and they really blew me away... they have a 4 track EP out called Black Smoke Rising and I can't stop listen to it. The singer sounds exactly like Robert Plant and they have great energy. Highly recommended!

Back in the day I used to have cassette compilations for individual years containing singles released in that particular year. With the advent of spotify I've created some playlists from late 80's to mid 90's. Today has been 1990 with Love/Hate, Slaughter, Warrant, Extreme, Robert Plant, Thunder, Megadeth, Faith no More, Judas Priest, Little Angels, Winer, Black Crowes, Queensryche, AC/DC, Heart, Poison, Jon Bon Jovi, Electric Boys, Bruce Dickinson to name but a few on there.

Got to see Greta Van Fleet open for The Struts back in May and then again a couple of weeks ago on their first headline tour. They are outstanding! This band is definitely going places Their opening act was a Canadian band called The Glorious Sons -- I bought a couple of their CDs and have been listening to them for the past week non-stop.

Over the last couple of days...
Breaking Benjamin - Saturate Breaking Benjamin - We Are Not Alone Breaking Benjamin - Phobia Breaking Benjamin - Dear Agony Breaking Benjamin - Dark Before Dawn
And currently...
Thin Lizzy - Live And Dangerous
I know that album, like several live albums from the 70's, is surrounded by controversy of what is or isn't actually live. To my ears in 2017, it barely sounds live at times. But it's still a great record and it's hard to beat that recording of "Still In Love With You." That was one of the highlights of the set when I saw Lizzy w/ Viv in 2011.

Inglorious II - Its taking me a while to get into this one, not as immediate as their debut album.
Slang deluxe
Whitesnake Purple album
Aerosmith Pump - I still can't believe I never got into this back in the day, better late than never I suppose.
Metallica Hardwired - listening in readiness for seeing them next month, I've also been watching some of their recent footage in the round too. This one popped up today with James falling down a hole in the stage at around 3-55 in:
I think that fans in the upper tiers at some venues may struggle to see the stage with those video screen boxes things that they have suspended above that seem to rise and fall at various intervals.

Lately has been a weird mix for me.
Started to listen alot to Talking Heads a couple of weekes back.
Last week i started listening to Gratefull dead after seeing a documentary about Bob Weir on Netflix. I know about the band, but litterally didnt know any of their songs. They have so much great music. Scarlet Begonias for example just blew me away.

With the release of their new live/rarities album Live At The O2 Arena, I've been giving Alter Bridge another shot to hook me. I started listening to them back in 2015 after Myles' work with Slash was winding down but since it's damn near impossible to just go out and buy a CD these days, by the time I had received the four AB albums that I ordered online, I was distracted by other stuff and never really gave them my full attention. It didn't help that their first album One Day Remains is pretty bad, in my opinion. But Blackbird is great and I just listened to ABIII all the way through for the first time last night. Still need to listen to Fortress all the way through and I've listened to The Last Hero several times since I bought it when it was new. The B-sides & Rarities disc from the new live album is pretty good. I had a few of the tracks already and wasn't surprised that the songs from the Blackbird era were my favorites on the disc.
Speaking of giving bands a second chance to woo me, I'm also going to try to get through The Struts first album again since they are opening for Foo Fighters when I see them in November. I tested out a handful of tracks when the album came out since it was getting a lot of attention but it really didn't do anything for me then.

Finished working my way through Alter Bridge's albums. Fortress is quite good. I like them but they aren't a band I can listen to constantly because their material is such a thick wall of sound all the time that it gets exhausting. And if I have it on in the background, it's easy to not realize when one song ends and another begins.
Moving on from that, I received my copy of Foo Fighters new album Concrete And Gold in the mail yesterday since I preordered. I've listened through three times now and I'm struggling with some of it. Early favorites are "Run," "The Sky Is A Neighborhood," "La Dee Da," "Arrows," and "The Line." Others are growing on me with more listens. The title track bores me to death though.

Surprised you didn't list MAKE IT RIGHT - that became an instant favorite for me and to my ears is the most accessible song on the album (maybe outside of RUN). The others you list are the same favorites for me. Album definitely has a '70s swagger to it overall with the psychedelic vibes and all the gang background vocals. Totally with you on the title track - not sure I will ever listen to that again. What a slog! Also listening to the new Darkness songs (despite the ridiculous lyrics I really like SOLID GOLD), and anticipating new HEAT next week (or at least the 4 songs I have yet to hear). Rounding out my recent listening is the new Riverdogs which I didn't get right away...yet another great Viv side project.

It finally started to 'click' for me yesterday and I'm legitimately enjoying the first 10 tracks... I don't think I'll ever come around on the title track. "Make It Right" is another highlight for me now, it just took longer than the others I mentioned oddly enough.

A Canadian band called Bleeker, they have this fun, catchy song called 'Highway'. Another song I really like is a band from Iceland called Kaleo and that song is called 'Way down we go' Love Kaleo and that song.

Enjoying the 2 Darkness tracks that they've released so far from the new album. I can't get the chorus of Solid Gold out of my head, inspired: Picked up the new album this morning and got it on heavy rotation. First impressions - it's good. Very, very good. I'd recommend that anyone whose interested gets the deluxe edition with the 4 bonus tracks - they are by no means throwaway tracks.

Over the last week or so...
Stone Temple Pilots - Core 25th Anniversary Box set. Love the live and unplugged stuff. Foo Fighters - Concrete And Gold Last In Line - Heavy Crown Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers - Anthology Through The Years plus select tracks from various studio albums throughout his career.
And of course I've been going through everything I have from The Darkness between their studio albums and other tracks/b-sides. I'm really loving their new album Pinewood Smile. Still waiting on my deluxe edition to arrive with the bonus tracks.
Right now I'm listening to Whitesnake's 2CD 30th anniversary edition of 1987. It's the first time I've ever listened to the album all the way through and it is quite good. But I'm really enjoying the live disc (featuring Vivian). It sounds like it's from various shows (mainly in Japan) but thankfully it has been mixed as a continuous show.

I'm surprised... the local radio station is playing Let's Go today. I have never heard any radio station in this area play that song before.
