Very surprised by this in a good way. I used to cringe at the thought of her but tbh she’s grown into a pretty talented person and respects the people before her.

Currently going through the new Queensryche Operation Mindcrime and Empire boxsets. Both done in the same format as the Leps Early Years and London to Vegas releases. 10” box with a booklet. Both of them bring together the b-sides for the singles. Mindcrime has 2 live performances of the album on cd as well as on dvd, along with the promo videos and making of stuff. That’s 4cds and 1 dvd. Empire does the same with the singles b-sides except that has the rest of the live tracks from (I assume) the same gig as the Mindcrime dvd comes from. Empire is 3cd and 1dvd. Granted majority of this has been released before, but it’s nice to get it all together in a box.

The full dvd live performance of the Mindcrime album is on the mindcrime set. The empire dvd has live tracks that made up the rest of the empire era shows where they did Mindcrime in its entirety, until I watch it I’m assuming those live tracks come from the same gig where they filmed Mindcrime.

So, they split a show on the Empire tour (where they did Mindcrime from start to finish) between the two sets? Interesting. Watched these now. The dvds on each set all have material that’s been out before on different releases over the years. The Mindcrime dvd has the complete live performance of the Mindcrime album that was released on the Operation Livecrime set 30 years ago. It’s also got all the promo videos, a making of feature and a tv spot that were previously released across Video Mindcrime 30+ years ago and also a deluxe release of the album a few years back. The empire dvd is the Building Empires video that they put out 30 years ago which contains promo videos and some live tracks from the same show where they filmed operation livecrime. Watching the livecrime show makes me realise what a great album Mindcrime is and also how good that lineup was with Chris DeGarmo in the band. Incidentally I’m hoping to get to one of the Geoff Tate shows later in the year where he’s performing Rage for Order and Empire in their entirety.

lotta duran duran. big iron maiden announcement due in next week, album perhaps. only lepps make me this excited. I was seeing lots of rumours last week about them already teasing the announcement with some strange posters at Download that linked in to a t-shirt Bruce was wearing in a recent interview. Its been 6 years since their last!

Touting some new music again Been listening to the new album Summertime High's from Dangerous Curves. Really digging it and it's probably my second favorite album so far this year behind Midnite City. If you like new stuff that has 80's influences like Midnite City, H.E.A.T, Eclipse, Crazy Lixx, etc....Check these guys out. Album is only out digitally on their bandcamp page at the moment. Think it hits streaming services in mid-August.

Been listening to alot of Oasis lately. Was not a massive fan when i was a teenager, which in a way is a shame. They are/were an incredible band and just my kinda music now. Noel Gallagher is an amazing somgwriter and Liam is one of the greatest frontman in the history of british music. Imo Oasis is probably the last truly great rock n roll band to come out from england

Picked up the first 2 Pearl Jam albums on vinyl along with Back in Black on vinyl too. Despite loving Pearl Jams first album I have no idea why I never went and bought their second one because stuff like Go, Animal and Dissident were big favourites of mine back then too. Also ordered a copy of Little Angels debut album on vinyl as well.

Lots of REO Speedwagon-specifically the Ballads compilation from the late 90s
Reviving my love of ABBA since the announcement of the new album and the holographic tour: just good old ABBA Gold
Haywire-a great band from Prince Edward Island in Canada; I would describe them as the intersection between Def Leppard and Duran Duran (excellent hard rock along with 80s production)

Just spent over £50 on the vinyl and cd remasters of Metallica's black album. Quite disappointed to open the vinyl and find that the discs are in 2 plain white sleeves with just a printed lyric sheet. No gatefold sleeve or printed inner sleeves for it.

Listening to a lot of the Uk rock band Magnum. Saw them live back in 92 at a theatre venue near me, they were very good. At one time in the late 80's they made the jump to arenas but quickly dropped back down to the smaller theatres and sadly they aren't really much of a live draw in the UK anymore, although they do still play smaller venues now and again. Funnily enough a good friend of mine at work is mates with their lead singer Bob Catley, and it seems that life for a band of their current standing is tough, with Bob taking a lot of responsibility for sorting out bookings and organisng merchandising deals etc to try and save money for the band.

Ozzy Osbourne No More Tears 30th anniversary. Ordered the double vinyl release, nice gatefold sleeve, but disappointing that’s there no inners with lyrics or notes. Also disappointing to see that they’ve done an expanded edition with some extra tracks, but that is on digital only. Surely they must release that fans who were into Ozzy at the time are the generation that prefer physical releases.

Was drawn towards listening to The Wall by Pink Floyd as it's been a while. I find it interesting listening to 'Goodbye Blue Sky' as this music drew inspiration for Def Leppard and Metallica. Love little stuff like that, unless the cat is already out of the bag and people know the reference? If not take a listen

I am in love with this album! I can't stop listening to it. I have high expectations knowing their back catalog and they still somehow surpass them. This band is just exceptional. Sonically speaking/production wise I don't think they've ever sounded better. The first 3 tracks are a 1-2-3 slice of melodic rock heaven. BITE THE BULLET and DEAD INSIDE are monsters. TWILIGHT is also one of their best. It's nice to finally be enjoying new music again as this year has been a barren wasteland of it for me outside of W.E.T. (ironically also an Erik Martensson project) and Foo Fighters which was back in January/February (which for me feels like a lifetime ago). Also looking forward to the new Fuel album and Jerry Cantrell solo album later this month. Hopefully a lot more new music on the way...! Cranking the new Eclipse album Wired today. Agree with you! I was a bit down on their last album. Not sure why....it's was still decent but just didn't overly grab me for whatever reason. I think I mostly just didn't connect with some of the songs and didn't really find it sticking in my head. This one though is fantastic and love every tune. It's super catchy and easy to get into. I think I'd comfortably put this ahead of both Monumentum and Paradigm if I'm ranking their albums. I don't know how Martensson keeps coming up with so many songs. The guy is like a bottomless pit of ideas. I know some criticize that his stuff gets a bit samey but doesn't bother me that he sticks to what works and what he knows his fans will like. Sometimes there's no need to fix what isn't broken. I am in love with this album! I can't stop listening to it. Agreed the albums have been so frequent and consistent and then to add what he's doing with Jeff Scott Soto it's impressive how good the material is. I really enjoyed PARADIGM also although it looks like that one isn't as universally liked as much as the others and I can see it as a couple of the singles didn't resonate with me as much either. DELIRIOUS/BLOOD WANTS BLOOD/MASQUERADE would all probably end up on a top 10 song list of theirs for me though. MARY LEIGH and SHELTER ME also excellent. Agree with you! I had to check when they formed "Eclipse is a Swedish rock band from Stockholm, Sweden, formed in 1999." I had no idea they were that old as a band. As for the New Album, i've listened to it 3 times now and while i loved the music i just can't get into this albums lyrics. I'm not giving up just yet. One New Album i do like is the New Ozzy Album. Purchased 10 live cds from Bruce Springsteen’s website. Covers a lot of his tours from 1985 upwards. Making my way through them as his shows last 3hrs plus lol 😂. Fantastic artist . Would love to see him do a residency with the E Street band in Vegas. I can only dream of that though.
