Listened to my 2 favourite Iron Maiden albums back to back yesterday, Seventh Son & No Prayer for the Dying. The difference between them both is quite stark as they went for a more raw approach with No Prayer, I must admit to preferring the sound they got on Seventh Son & Somewhere in Time, but even so No Prayer I think is a very underrated album. But the one glaring thing that stands out is their choice of single from that album, Holy Smoke and Bring your Daughter definitely aren't the strongest songs on the album IMO. Yet unbelievably Bring your Daughter got to number 1 in the UK singles charts. A great achievement for a band like Maiden. Whereas the singles they took from Seventh Son are obvious ones to pick and Infinite Dreams on that album could be my favourite Maiden track of all time.

This one is a little bit out of character for me but been giving this new album from Chez Kane a listen recently. I'll admit I was never a huge fan of the female fronted stuff in the 80's for whatever reason, but even with that said there were plenty of tunes from artists like Heart, Vixen, Pat Benatar, Lita Ford, etc that I always enjoyed. For whatever reason I liked quite a few songs but never really bought those album. Anyways, this new Chez Kane album basically seems influenced by all those artists I mentioned and feels like it was found in an 80s time capsule or something. If you liked that kind of 80s stuff, well worth giving this a listen. Danny Rexon of Crazy Lixx had a big hand in this and he clearly has a knack for the 80's sound similar to what he's done in Crazy Lixx. Also, I felt obligated to post about this after seeing an interview with Chez. She's from the UK and she pointed out Def Leppard as one of her favorite bands and the also the band she would most like to open for on a tour if she could. So that's worth a couple points in my book

Just listening to the radio broadcast of the Sheffield 96 Slang show, such great energy to the songs with them being a bit more raw in their presentation. I'd love to see an official release from this tour.

Came across this today...Rob Wylde of Midnite City doing a cover of Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad. I think Leppard can be a tough band to cover because of how unique they sound and with their backing vocals but think he did a pretty good job with it.

Is it just me or is Miley Cyrus carrying rock music? Is this the crossover that finally brings rock back? Every time I see her she is singing classic rock/rock covers.

Got the new Temple Balls Pyromide CD playing today and have to say I think it's currently my favorite album to date this year. I thought their last album Untamed was pretty good but they've taken things to another level with this new one. It's got some H.E.A.T vibes as it was produced by Jona Tee. Recommend checking it out if you like melodic hard rock like H.E.A.T, Eclipse, Crazy Lixx, Shiraz Lane, etc.

I will say she def is showing her love for rock....in all honesty I think a lot of these pop stars would love to do more rock oriented music but due to record company suits and what is deemed as “non marketable” for them, it gets a big hell no.

Loving this. Very beast of burden with a modern touch. I see why Joe is so big on this band. They mix pop/rock and do it very well, not to mention Luke Spiller brings back the charismatic frontman vibe thats been missing from rock IMO for a min.

Back in the day when the Cybernauts were the only side project, I really loved them. Their 2CD release was the unofficial soundtrack of my summer in 2001. Ever since, I had hoped that a recording would surface from their brief four date tour through Japan earlier that year, but I never saw anything. Which was shocking to me since Japan records everything!
Fast forward 20 years and I've finally gotten my hands on a recording from the Cybernauts' 2001 tour. So I'm currently listening to their show in Osaka on January 12, 2001.

Got the new album from Midnite City delivered today. The Japan version I ordered was out 5/26 but rest of the world is 6/11 I believe.
Anyways, absolutely loving it and it's taken over my #1 spot for 2021. These guys have a definite 80's vibe and are some mixture of late 80's Poison, Def Leppard, Danger Danger, etc.
I've really dug their previous two albums but this new one has set a new bar for them IMO. Just solid top to bottom and more varied with heavier production. Basically, they capture exactly what I loved about that late 80's music but still put their own spin on it.

"earMUSIC is very happy to announce the latest worldwide signing of iconic US hard-rock band SKID ROW, which marks another outstanding artist addition to the label’s roster. The band just started working on their new studio album with producer Nick Raskulinecz, who comes with an impressive track record from his latest works with bands such as Foo Fighters, Rush, Halestorm, Evanescence, Velvet Revolver and Alice in Chains. The band sends the following comment straight from the studio: “We are extremely excited to have signed with earMUSIC. Not only do we have an incredible team to work with, but we are label mates with iconic artists like Deep Purple and Alice Cooper. To say we are psyched is an understatement.” – SKID ROW SKID ROW is a multi-platinum act coming along with a solid bunch of top-ten singles, and the band’s second album, ”Slave to the Grind“ peaked at #1 at US Billboard Charts in 1991. New Jersey kids, punk and metal attitude, determined to conquer the world. All for one, banded together with single-minded purpose. The battlefield was the stage, the songs their arsenal in an us-against-them musical coup d’état. In the last 5 years the band entered a new exciting phase by finding the perfect match with lead singer ZP Theart (ex DragonForce, Tank) who already showed his skills and perfect range on the band’s latest tours in 2016 through 2019 all over the world. The band will prove the magic of their new band chemistry on the new album coming to you in 2022! Max Vaccaro (General Manager earMUSIC): “We have been given the chance to listen to many songs in pre-production stage and we were completely impressed by the energy and the songwriting quality. Skid Row have reached great levels of success in the 80s and the 90s but we are sure that they have all they need today to open a new chapter in their career and return to be one of the leading names in the hard rock world“ The legendary rock group also recently joined the talent division at Primary Wave Music as a management client. Eric Baker, a partner in Primary Wave’s music management division and based in the company’s west coast office, will handle day-to-day responsibilities for Skid Row."

Agree. These guys are actually playing about 10 minutes from my house this summer and I have zero interest to go see them. If Bach were there though, I'd be there for sure. For me Warrant is anther band that's tough to get into without Jani. Mason does a good job but it's impossible to see them and not wish Jani were up there. Journey is another...For me they've really been nothing but a cover band since Perry left. It's just really tough replacing singers and carrying on as the same band. It can sometimes work but when a band has a lot of success with one guy it's tough to change directions. Honestly, I can't think of a lot of post-success lead singer replacements that have really worked out well in terms of making new music. Van Halen, Black Sabbath... and that's it. AC/DC did it, but they weren't replacing Bon, he died. Queen and Journey are successful live acts, but it really is more about the legacy of the group than anything else. No one is buying new songs from them. With Warrant, and I mean no disrespect to the other members, but he wrote all the songs in addition to being the singer. In the case of Skid Row, I feel like it has always been some sort of ego issue because Bach got so much attention, even though Bolan and Snake did most of the song writing.
