Listening to some cds at work. The latest Down n Outz, which has some good tracks but the whole thing does not have much repeat listening value in it for me. Bon Jovi Crossroad, this and Vault are easily my 2 favourite hits compilation albums. Also had Thunders second album Laughing on Judgement Day playing as well, I think this one is a touch bloated by being a bit too long. Some great tracks on it though, in particular the first 5, but it came out in an era when bands decided that because a cd held 70 minutes of music that they should try and add more to it. That doesn't necessarily make for a good album in my book.

I’ve been listening to the “new” Dokken, “The Lost Songs - 1978-1981.” On one hand it is mostly what early Dokken sounded like, but there are A LOT of really mellow songs in this collection. It seems to me as well that, especially the first half, they didn’t leave them in the “demo state.” Supposedly they found the master tapes from when they were in Germany and would sneak into studios at night to get free time. But some of the production seems too clean or modern and not what you’d expect for 40-ish year old songs.
Overall it is really cool to listen to and a fun trip back into that early Dokken stuff.

This past month or so has seen the 30th anniversaries for some releases that were important to me when I was a teen, so I've had these on in the car: Megadeth Rust in Peace, AC/DC Razors Edge and Iron Maidens No Prayer for the Dying. No Prayer is one of my favourite Maiden album, Rust in Peace has an unbelievably good opening 2 tracks and then becomes quite average, whilst The Razors has faired much worse as it used to be an album I really enjoyed, but I found half of it to be filler now.

Only Def Leppard-have been on nothing but for almost two years-it’s gotten me through my husband’s illness and death. Only a few songs I really can’t listen to...Def Leppard is the greatest escape

Happy record store day to me. I obviously picked up the Leps RnR HOF but I also picked up this beauty. The best album release of 1991 IMO. Double red vinyl, in a gatefold sleeve, it also includes 4 bonus tracks and the quality of the package is fantastic too.

Been listening to the latest single from Thunder 'Last one out turn out the lights', its not too bad actually, even though the riff is bordering on the verge of slipping in to Whole Lotta Love. They also announced their new album will be out in March next year. I must admit its been a bit of a barren few years with Thunder since they released Rip it Up because their subsequent release where they covered themselves with an acoustic album was terrible IMO, no way to celebrate their 30th anniversary. Also been listening to some Adrenalize tour recordings, the whole 'An Evening with...' concept is something I'd love to see now. But when hearing these shows back you do realise that they don't actually play that many songs and they do pad it out a bit to hit the 2 hour running time. Both Phil and Viv get long guitar solo spots in addition to the extended Rocket, then theres the ROA singalaong as well. They also perform From the Inside, which is a rarity, but you can literally feel the atmosphere being sucked out of the venue as Joe introduces the track. They sound absolutley fantastic though, if theres any live videos to be had from this tour in their proposed 2020 vision project then I'm all over that. Surprised to see that Hole Hearted isn’t on the vinyl version. That is odd! Maybe it was a bonus track on the cd??

I just found out Bon Jovi released an album this year lol.... strange year.
absolutely terrible, some interesting lyric ideas but the songs lack any memorable hooks or that feeling of wanting to listen to it again.

Iron Maidens new live album Night of the Dead from their Legacy of the Beast tour. Brilliant. It’s a pity they haven’t done a dvd for it.

Dug out a few old Lep bootlegs from the Mirror Ball tour, listening to the Manchester 2011 show at the moment.
Been listening to a lot of podcasts at work, mainly film stuff - James Bond Licence to Podcast, Star Wars Resistance Broadcast, Indiana Jones Indycast (mainly the ones dissecting the music of John Williams) and I also managed to stumble across a podcast of some old radio broadcasts of the Sherlock Holmes radio dramas from the 1940's starring Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce that were broadcast weekly. Great stuff.

This week mostly listening to the new W.e.t album Retransmission and digging it. For my tastes, there's a lot of new music on the horizon coming this year that I'm looking forward to from bands like Midnite City, Shiraz Lane, Crazy Lixx, Maverick, Degreed and probably a few more I'm forgetting. It would be nice if I could add Leppard to that list

Been listening to some Lep bootlegs on my ancient CD Walkman at work this week. I've been to Newcastle and Edinburgh on the Pyromania tour, Nottingham on the Hysteria tour and today I'm in Milan on the Adrenalize club tour. The Adrenalize era is definitely my favourite for Joe's voice I think.

Digging this new Midnite City tune that came out today and looking forward to the new album out in May. Definitely some classic Def Leppard mixed with Poison vibes going on in this tune IMO!

The new album from Thunder 'All the Right Noises'. They've been around for over 30 years now and this is their 11th album I think. They did split for a short while in 2009 and their 2 studio albums after they reformed in 2015 (Wonder Days & Rip it Up) were arguably as good as if not better than some of their previous output. This new one is no different, to be coming out with albums this good after so long together is unbelievable.
