Already planning for summer partying-on-the-water type of music. Here is a new alt-rock song that I am listening to now that fits what I need for summer. I am totally open to recommendations if anyone has any.

New Miranda Lambert, exceptional songwriter. Decided not to mix and match Ms Lambert and Metallica, so did one week of 80% Metallica (20% that nice Def Leppard album), now it's the Lambert double album (perhaps mixed up with that nice Def Leppard album!).

Loving the new Pretty Maids album...Kingmaker....It's basically a three way tie for my favorite album of 2016 between this, Nordic Union and the Defiants.
Also picked up an album from Maverick called Big Red after reading some positive reviews and sampling some songs on You Tube. They're from Northern Ireland and liking the album quite a bit. It's a definite throwback type melodic hard rock album.

Metallica Hardwired to Self Destruct - I've given disc 1 a few spins so far and I think tracks 1 and 6 that book end it are the weaker ones. Really liking Now that we're Dead and Dream no More. For me Metallica are at their best with that heavy groove and riffs.

H.E.A.T Live in Italy 2016 (Acoustic) Metallica - 3Disc - Hardwired...To Self-Destruct 2016 Been listening to Hardwire too. IMHO Hetfeild sounds better now than when he was young. More mature vocals. Watched a few of the videos from that album yesterday. Some crazy *hit on them. Couldn't finish the one where the singer was slicing his arms up. They are performing tonight. Looking forward to new live footage.

Watched about half of Motley Crues The End DVD a little earlier tonight. I liked the beginning of the film as they show the stage coming together with some sound bites from the band and fans outside. Good sound quality, great stage production as usual, although it seems a little sterile at the start with no atmosphere or energy. Not sure why, but it definitely picks up pace quickly as the set progresses and it's hit after hit. Just realised it's exactly a year since it was filmed too.

Extreme Pornograffitti - I've been going back and buying albums from bands that I only bought a few singles from back in the day. Quite impressed with the majority of this album.

Love Eclipse...always solid melodic hard rock. 2017 looking like a great year for new music with Eclipse and H.e.a.t hopefully later in the year. Also looking forward to Steve Brown and Ted Poley's Tokyo Motor Fist...Quite like the first 2 songs I've heard...Here's the most recent released... Hysteria. Reading the recent Fabulist Icons book made me want to dig the album out again.

Exile in Guyville - Liz Phair. She was a big part of high school and college for me, so I'm very excited about the news of her upcoming double album.
Andy, your mention of Fabulist Icons reminds me that I inquired about the second printing many months ago; not sure if that ever came to fruition, but thanks for the reminder to look into it again. I was too late for the first.

I've been on a Garbage binge lately. I'm kicking myself for not getting into them beyond the singles sooner. Before this year 2016 I only had their greatest hits album but bought their most recent album, Strange Little Birds, on a whim after seeing them perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Then I picked up all of their albums (as quickly as I could find them) and I've been constantly going back to them ever since. They played St. Louis last summer and I missed it so hopefully they go back out again soon so I can catch them live.

This Rocket gets me to the heavens... I've always thought that the Virginia Tech shirt was such a random choice for this concert. Nothing against that great school, but his fashion sense has really improved over the years!

Quite looking forward to this new Tokyo Motor Fist album from Ted Poley and Steve Brown. I think Steve learned some stuff from his time with Leppard as I hear many Leppard elements in this song. For me, the opening sorta reminds me a little bit of Let It Go.

I've been listening to online classic rock stations lately. I am currently stuck on one that plays A LOT of Def Leppard. It makes me very happy to say They have played 4 different Def Lep songs in the past 5 hours. :-) tunein.com/radio/1029-The-Whale-s28332/

Catching up with some new music this week and is quickly showing me 2017 has the potential to be far better then 2016 ended up being.
Eclipse has a new album out I'm pretty excited about next month. NEVER LOOK BACK and VERTIGO are great songs, though admittedly they aren't grabbing me as much as the first two singles from their last album ARMAGEDDONIZE did. Still this is one of the best melodic rock bands out there today.
Picked up Stephen Pearcy's new solo album today SMASH. Great classic '80s style rock. This album was a pleasant surprise to be honest. Really dig TEN MILES WIDE, WANT TOO MUCH, I CAN'T TAKE IT and JAMIE. Just about the entire album is a good listen.
I was also completely caught off guard by how good this new Nickelback song is. Say what you want about their material but I really enjoy these types of songs from them. Obviously a very politically charged and socially relevant song as well.

Or is it just me Please post some live videos if you can.
