Today i've been chilling out. For the first time i'm listening to the Beatles Catalog on Spotify.
It's amazing how many songs i know without ever purchasing a recording.

Got the latest Classic Rock magazine in the mail the other day. Been working my way thru their 50greatest AOR albums list. Alot of stuff i have not listened to before. WHo knew that Cher made a pretty good AOR album in 1987. Currently being pleasently suprised by Joe Lynn Turners - Rescue You album... Finished this list this weekend. Survivor has got to be one of the most underrated AOR bands of all time... So many great songs and good albums.

Currently listening to the brand new Dream Theater album Distance Over Time starring Phil's G3 buddy John Petrucci. They aren't everybody's cup of tea and they can be a challenging listen at times. But I'm a big fan and I'm loving the album so far - some seriously brilliant moments. Recommended for anybody who doesn't already know they're going to hate it

Picked up Motley Crues Dr Feelgood album on vinyl this weekend. I mentioned the other day how I liked the intro to the new Last in Line album, Dr Feelgood is up there with Operation Mindcrime as my favourite album intro. Ironically they both feature the same stock voice too "Dr Davis telephone please". I wonder why they used the same one as Queensryche? Anyway this intro then leads in to the awesome opening riff of the title track. I don't think the rest of the album hits the same heights as this opening song, having said that its still probably my favourite Crue album which is why I've picked it up on LP.
For me Crue are a singles band rather than an album band. They've got a fantastic greatest hits set, but their deeper non-single stuff isn't that great IMO. Dr Feelgood is no different in that respect, but when you scratch off the surface of those singles I think the rest of their material is a bit weak.
Incidentally have a listen to the Killing Joke song Love Like Blood, it sounds like this is where Crue got the idea from for the Dr Feelgood riff.

A lot of Duran Duran singles from after their golden period. Pressure Off, White Lines, All She Wants Is, Serious, brilliant.
The Duranies are making a new album, a joint headlining tour with Lepps in North America in 2020 would be left field and very cool.

Thunder (Seeing them in four weeks) I can't stand the new Thunder effort. So glad I didn't go to the Please Remain Seated gigs either, that style of music is not why I got in to Thunder in the first place. Are you getting a full electric show though?

I also don't like the new album. They don't advertise with "Please Remain Seated Tour" like they did in the UK, so I hope for full electric show with maybe one or two acoustic songs. We'll see!

Sigrid - Sucker Punch Shes been very hyped up here in norway and it could look like shes been doing tons of press and being hyped in the UK too. Touring with George Ezra (dont know his music). Im biased since she is norwegian , but im kinda blown away by how good the album actually is. For the ones that like pop its worth a listen...

Currently enjoying the new Whitesnake single "Shut Up & Kiss Me" from the upcoming Flesh and Blood album. This song could have been lifted straight off their greatest hits album from the mid-90's. Sounding seriously classic.
A good sign if the album follows suit.

That was decent enough...
They are still a great band and Mason does a good job on the vocals.

I've been working my way through two Whitesnake box sets; "Unzipped" and the 35th anniversary edition of "Slide It In". Love box sets, and both are full of unreleased material and video, great value for the money!
