Having seen Geoff Tate live a few weeks ago I've been listening to Queensryches Operation Mindrcime a lot lately. Its one of my favourite albums of all time. Not one bad song on it, musically and lyrically very weighty too with a good story running through it. Perfect album.

Agree completely with Andy when Operation Mindcrime came out got brilliant reviews, i bought it even though i hadn't like earlier material by the band. Blown away, in many respects it redefined what heavy metal can be, thoughtful and mature. Works as a complete album demands listening to all the way through.
On my shortlist for albums to take to a desert island.
Empire may have had the big hit but Operation is definitive Queensryche.

Empire may have had the big hit but Operation is definitive Queensryche. I was watching a recent interview with Tate and the interviewer suggests that Empire was their artistic peak (he actually meant commercial) but Tate laughs at him and says you're kidding, Empire was a painting by the numbers record.

Empire I really liked Jet City Woman, Lucidity, Best I Can, just its not in same league as Operation. Like comparing Seventh Son to Somewhere in Time by Maiden, one is definitive, the other good.

After reading the aboce comments i am now listening to Queensryche.. The band really reminds me of being a student. First time i lived abroad and the first time i really had access to a proper record shop - Real Groovy Records - and i bought tons of cds, lps, books and all kinda music stuff there. Shitloads of BEST OF stuff, and among other i bought The Best of Queensryche which i really liked and was listening to alot.. Empire, Walk in the shadows, I dont belive in love, Jet city woman, Take Hold of The Flame Empire are all top notch songs. So im now listening to their best of

lol damn i'm now listening to Huey Lewis And The News Am I on the right board?? Lol I dunno maybe it's just me but i am starting to like some music that i was not over keen on when i was younger, but as i am getting older i am getting more mellow or something in my old age,as for BILLY OCEAN i had give in and downloaded his Greatest Hits of I Tunes as i was thinking about it for a while,i also heard about a year ago or something that he worked with Mutt Lang, and he also mentioned in his interveiw that Mutt had also worked with Def Leppard.so maybe that's why i have been drawn to his music.

Imagine Dragons Evolve album. Having a hard time keeping it out of my car stereo. Four tracks in sequence Whatever It Takes, Believer, Walking the Wire, and Rise Up are all really enjoyable.
Added Greta Van Sleet to my Pandora and Safari Song sounds like a Led Zeppelin song with a young Robert Plant on vocals!
Been on a CD greatest hits buying binge.
Alanis Morissette, Loverboy, Inxs, America, Seals and Crofts, The Offspring, The Alan Parsons Project, and Oingo Boingo.

Partial to a bit of country really love Miranda Lambert fantastic songwriter.
Saw Kacey Musgraves in Boston a few years ago when Lepps played Mansfield. Thought Musgraves was good but lacked a good single, the song which could crossover.
Her new single, Space Cowboy, could be it. She tours with Harry Styles this summer in US. Good luck girl.

Started listening to every Leppard song in chronoloigcal order thats on spotify on my drives to and from work this week. I'm currently half way through the LA 83 show that was on the Pyromania deluxe. I have to say that Phil seems to destroy most of the solos he plays on this tour, its really distracting and nothing like their recorded comunterparts. Some of the songs are performed too quickly as well. They were defintiely better from the Hysteria tour onwards IMO.

Cranking the new Shiraz Lane album Carnival Days....Really blowing me away and sounds like a different band from their debut album. Worth checking out if you enjoy H.e.a.t, Eclipse, Crazy Lixx, etc.

Maybe they were still in some way holding on to their metal roots?

Photograph sounds terrible on that recording imo. Way to fast.... Maybe they were still in some way holding on to their metal roots? I think they were, everything was too fast. I don't enjoy those Pyromania concerts as much as I do the Hysteria ones for that reason. I am just curious to know,is this the same recording that will be featured on the upcoming release on the Vinyl Box Set to be released on the (1st of June 2018) Its the same show.

New Stone Temple Pilots self titled - absolutely fantastic record! STP on their third singer but sounds like vintage STP...homages to both Scott and Chester throughout as well. Another case of retailer exclusive bonus tracks that I listen to and wonder why they are not on the actual album as they are that good (particularly ALREADY GONE). Perhaps the last CD I ever buy from Best Buy (times they are changing)?

I purchased on iTunes so I haven't heard the bonus tracks, but the rest of the album is great.

When I saw Myles Kennedy last week one song really stood out. From his album, this should be a single, "Love Can Only heal", absolutely brilliant.
