I've read that it's confirmed that Axl will be the singer at the European dates. Don't know if that's a good thing...

Official statement "AC/DC band members would like to thank Brian Johnson for his contributions and dedication to the band throughout the years. We wish him all the best with his hearing issues and future ventures. As much as we want this tour to end as it started, we understand, respect and support Brian's decision to stop touring and save his hearing. We are dedicated to fulfilling the remainder of our touring commitments to everyone that has supported us over the years, and are fortunate that Axl Rose has kindly offered his support to help us fulfill this commitment. AC/DC will resume their Rock Or Bust World Tour with Axl Rose joining on vocals. The European stadium tour dates begin on May 7 in Lisbon, Portugal and run through June 12 in Aarhus, Denmark as previously announced. Following this European run of dates with AC/DC, Axl Rose will head out on his Guns N Roses, Not In This Lifetime Summer Stadium Tour. The 10 postponed U.S shows will be rescheduled and announced imminently, also with Axl Rose."

Listening to Whole Lotta Rosie from Coachella with Angus joining Axl. OK.
Crumby statement, lacks class. 36 years, treated like a janitor.

The statement from the band is disgusting. It makes it sound like the man was just someone in the background. He's been their lead singer for 36 years!

Man am I glad I got to see them when I did. This whole thing is a joke... I'm done with AC/DC. Seems like Brian is taking the high road here cause he could be tearing Angus a new one if all the rumors are true. While I enjoy some GNR on occasion, I'm really not a fan of Axl's voice (or behavior) so I would be pissed if I was supposed to be seeing AC/DC and he wound up being the fill in vocalist. Maybe if Axl blows out his voice on the AC/DC tour, Slash can get back to the Conspirators... Nah, Myles is tied up with Alter Bridge. Oh well, wishful thinking on my part.

So its probably safe to say thats the end of AC/DC now. There legacy as rock legends is safe.
But what a shitty way to go out. The statement seems quite cold towards Brian Johnson. He wasn't some hired hand.
Also the fulfillment of the tour seems just that, fulfilling dates so they don't have to go through the hassle of cancelling and potentially losing money. I thought AC/DC had more class than this.

I thought AC/DC had more class than this. The appointment of Axl Rose is one of the strangest things I've ever heard of. I'm sure the shows will be interesting for novelty value, but then again I'm not someone whose paid out lots of $$$ expecting to see the real AC/DC perform. I'd also expect that there'd be a proportion of hardcore AC/DC fans who would already have strong opinions against Axl Rose ie: an existing divide between the down and dirty Aussie rock v the glam rock scene Axl emerged from. Honestly, I think the only way they could have made it through this with credibility intact but still go ahead with the shows would be to, rather than try to replace Brian Johnson with a straight swap, instead turn the shows into an all-star tribute. If they could have had the likes of Axl/Dave Grohl/Angry Anderson/Roger Daltrey/Mick Jagger etc. all sing 4 or 5 songs each - turn it into a Kings of Chaos type show - I think they could have put a positive spin on that, doing something special while their friend gets better. More easily said than done though.

Eddie Trunk was just talking on Trunk Nation about the whole AC/DC thing and he wants to know why the band is not standing by Brian Johnson the way DEF LEPPARD stood by Rick Allen and continues to stick together more like a family the way a band should be. It was really cool.

Eddie Trunk was just talking on Trunk Nation about the whole AC/DC thing and he wants to know why the band is not standing by Brian Johnson the way DEF LEPPARD stood by Rick Allen and continues to stick together more like a family the way a band should be. It was really cool. It could be a different situation if Brian Johnson is unable to continue. More importantly for the fans is that this isn't how AC/DC should bow out IMO. Heres Brian's statement: link“As many AC/DC fans know, the remaining shows for the 2016 AC/DC Rock or Bust World Tour, including 10 postponed U.S. shows, are being rescheduled with a guest singer. I want personally to explain the reason because I don’t believe the earlier press releases sufficiently set out what I wanted to say to our fans or the way in which I thought it should be presented.
“On March 7th, after a series of examinations by leading physicians in the field of hearing loss, I was advised that if I continue to perform at large venues, I risked total deafness. While I was horrified at the reality of the news that day, I had for a time become aware that my partial hearing loss was beginning to interfere with my performance on stage. I was having difficulty hearing the guitars on stage and because I was not able to hear the other musicians clearly, I feared the quality of my performance could be compromised. In all honesty this was something I could not in good conscience allow. Our fans deserve my performance to be at the highest level, and if for any reason I can’t deliver that level of performance I will not disappoint our fans or embarrass the other members of AC/DC. I am not a quitter and I like to finish what I start, nevertheless, the doctors made it clear to me and my bandmates that I had no choice but to stop performing on stage for the remaining shows and possibly beyond. That was the darkest day of my professional life.
“Since that day, I have had several consultations with my doctors and it appears that, for the near future, I will be unable to perform on stage at arena and stadium size venues where the sound levels are beyond my current tolerance, without the risk of substantial hearing loss and possibly total deafness. Until that time, I tried as best as I could to continue despite the pain and hearing loss but it all became too much to bear and too much to risk.
“I am personally crushed by this development more than anyone could ever imagine. The emotional experience I feel now is worse than anything I have ever in my life felt before. Being part of AC/DC, making records and performing for the millions of devoted fans this past 36 years has been my life’s work. I cannot imagine going forward without being part of that, but for now I have no choice. The one thing for certain is that I will always be with AC/DC at every show in spirit, if not in person.
“Most importantly, I feel terrible having to disappoint the fans who bought tickets for the cancelled shows and who have steadfastly supported me and AC/DC these many years. Words cannot express my deep gratitude and heartfelt thanks not just for the recent outpouring to me personally of kind words and good wishes, but also for the years of loyal support of AC/DC. My thanks also go to Angus and Cliff for their support.
“Finally, I wish to assure our fans that I am not retiring. My doctors have told me that I can continue to record in studios and I intend to do that. For the moment, my entire focus is to continue medical treatment to improve my hearing. I am hoping that in time my hearing will improve and allow me to return to live concert performances. While the outcome is uncertain, my attitude is optimistic. Only time will tell.
“Once again, my sincere best wishes and thanks to everyone for their support and understanding"

Hmm. Well if they keep him as a studio singer and churn out more new music with him, I'll check that out.
But live performances without him? No thanks.

Perhaps I missed it but...
It would seem that stage volume decibel levels can be controlled quite well through the use of in-ear monitors. These are custom fit "ear buds" that can block out almost all ambient sound and allow the user to control the volume of the sound that reaches their ears.
Maybe he doesn't/hasn't used them and relied on stage monitors for too many years?

I saw Duran Duran / Chic Featuring Nile Rodgers on April 19th. Excellent show by both bands. Duran Duran played 105 minutes and included 5 songs from their new album, Paper Gods. Duran Duran defined 80s pop for me,some great tracks released. Even Election Day is one of my favourite songs from that era with Arcadia. They are a band that I really want to see before they retire.

I saw them this past Friday in Atlanta. They put on a fabulous show! But what makes it really interesting is that before they sang Save a Prayer, Simon mentioned that his good friend Prince was sick & he wanted to dedicate this song to him. Now, of course, we all know that he was terribly sick - RIP Prince!!!

Duran has always been one of my favorite bands EVER and I was going to try to go to Dallas show but I just couldn't make it. I'll have to see them on the next tour. A good friend of mine (who's seen them over 20 times!) is going to Austin and New Orleans shows. I'm surprised they didn't play The Reflex but the setlist looks great nonetheless!

That is a brilliant set, i saw them at Hollywood Bowl in October really enjoyed them.
Prince dead, saw a Prince tribute show a couple of weeks ago, never saw great man himself. At one point when i was at a teen Purple Rain was my favourite album.

AC/DC was already touring with one original member as it is I guess the way they see it as long as they aren't forced to give money back so what.

In Belgium about 7000 fans returned their ticket. I would go if I had tickets, but for me Bon was the best. Never liked the "new" singer Brian.

Very Spinal Tap looking is Axl on his throne.
I saw Dave Grohl on his throne last year, he managed to pull it off, though the Foo's are his band.
Axl is hired help.
