www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/article/32419914/new-drummer-in-the-darkness-leaves-bandNew drummer in The Darkness leaves bandDrummer in The Darkness Emily Dolan Davies has left the band, after only joining earlier this year.
Emily made her live debut on 6 March but is departing to pursue "new projects".
The group said in a statement: "We part ways with fond farewells.
"Emily played a huge part in the recording of our new album Last Of Our Kind and makes a final appearance in the video for our single Open Fire, which is coming to a screen near you."
Emily posted this on her Facebook page just last month
The drummer had "revitalised" The Darkness, according to singer Justin Hawkins.
"She's a hard hitter," he previously told Classic Rock.
Speaking about The Darkness's split with founding member Ed Graham in 2014, Hawkins said: "Ed has had some well-publicised health problems in the past.
"And for one reason or another, he wasn't capable of doing his job anymore.
We're still friends with Ed but now that we have Emily in the band, the worry is gone."
It is not yet certain what they will do to replace Emily.
The Darkness's fourth album, Last Of Our Kind, will be released on 1 June.
The follow-up to 2012's Hot Cakes was recorded at Leeders Farm Studio in Norfolk, owned by The Darkness guitarist Dan Hawkins.
"The new album is brutal," Justin Hawkins said.
"It's definitely stripped back, with the exception of some mandolins.
"But when you're doing medieval rock, you should have a mandolin on it...it's medieval rock, but it still sounds like The Darkness."

Bon Jovi Asian tour announcement due Friday, apparently playing Shanghai, where i live, September 14. Reliable source.
Listening to Kings X, 1988/89 the rock music press in UK said they were next big thing, I never gave em a chance. So far this week only listened to their first album, Out of the Silent Planet, good stuff.

Saw Rush in St. Louis on 5/14. Really good show as always. The entire setlist was played in reverse chronological order, starting with three songs from 2013's "Clockwork Angels" album and closing with two songs from 1974's self titled debut album. As they moved through the set, stagehands came on stage and changed the scenery to reflect each era as the band played. It was really cool.

I'm not sure if any of you were able to see Sixx AM on their 10 cities tour this past April, but that was one of the best concerts I have seen lately. I was already a fan of their 3 first albums and seeing them live was such an enjoyment. I was lucky enough to have met all 3 members of the band and have them signed my leg (which I got tattoed) with the song title Life is Beautiful (in memory of my dad). They are doing a world wide tour in 2016 which is really exciting !

So maybe as an act of damage control The Darkness are now streaming it themselves on their OS: I've already pre-ordered the album, but I'm listening to it now on their site. The first 2 singles they released (Barbarian and Open Fire) are amongst some of the best they've done IMO. I can imagine the title track being played live with a montage of their career and childhood playing on screens behind them There are some good riffs and hooks on this album and so far I'm finding it easier to get in to than their last one (Hot Cakes).

The Darkness aren't happy that their album has leaked early. Interesting, I didn't realize that it leaked. When I first saw that it had been posted on their website I was annoyed because I once again had that "why the hell have I been counting the days until the album release" that comes with nearly ever album release these days. But it's better for them to get it out there officially I guess.

Real fans will still buy the album. Those that had no plans on buying it might listen to it now and end up liking what they hear and might end up buying a ticket to a show. It's a promotional expense at this point imo.

So the new Whitesnake Purple album has been getting a lot of plays in my car this last couple of weeks, this morning I heard one of the original Deep Purple tracks on the radio (Sail Away), it sounded great and very different to the new WS version. So I think I will be picking up certainly 2 of the Coverdale fronted Deep Purple albums in Stormbringer and Burn.

WHITESNAKE's "The Purple Album", which revisits singer David Coverdale's time as the frontman for DEEP PURPLE's "Burn", "Stormbringer" and "Come Taste The Band" studio albums, sold around 6,900 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 84 on The Billboard 200 chart (which includes stream activity). Whitesnakes new one only sold around 7000 copies in the U.S. Their tour started last night in Spokane. Heres the setlist, very Deep Purple heavy with 9 (yes 9) covers from their 'new' Purple album! Don't get me wrong some of them are great (like Stormbringer and Burn for instance, but 9 is too many IMO). Only 6 WS original songs in the set. Plus the obligatory guitar and drum solos that they always do. 1.Burn 2.Lay Down, Stay Down 3.Love Ain't No Stranger 4.The Gypsy 5.Give Me All Your Love 6.You Keep On Moving 7.Forevermore 8.Guitar Solo 9.Mistreated 10.Soldier of Fortune 11.You Fool No One 12.Drum Solo 13.Is This Love 14.Lady Double Dealer 15.Stormbringer 16.Here I Go Again --------------------- 17.Still of the Night

I saw Halestorm on Tuesday, and I must say that they are a fantastic and very talented band. They were extremely entertaining to see live. They played TEN songs from their newest album (Which I thought was pretty neat), and 5 songs from their 2nd album, and 1 from their debut.
They put on an incredible show, and have a great catalogue, and I would suggest for anyone to check them out. (Especially Into the Wild Life and The Strange Case Of...)

I was lumped into the Aerosmith fanbase for a while because I had a lot of friends in there, and they convinced me to buy this album so I did when it first came out. Really really good album. I really liked hearing Joe singing on Freedom Fighters lol. He's got a really weird voice but I liked that he was featured vocally. I had this album on repeat for probably like two or three weeks. I was really impressed!

I recently took my dad last year to see Boston. See, my dad hates seeing bands live he only saw leppard once with me and agreed they were good but wouldn't see them again. He doesn't like the atmosphere and the fact that you can't really just sit down whenever you want without missing the show.. He doesn't get why I spend all of my money on M&G every year either, and said he'd never want to meet any band and wouldn't dream of paying that much lol. Anyway Boston is his favorite band and I thought he needed to see them at least once just to say he did. And we were both VERY impressed by them. Even without Brad Delp, they were still very good. I've become not a big fan of Tom Scholz just because he seems like kind of an A hole but he delivered, man. And for being expected to mimic the big flawless vocals of Brad, Tommy DeCarlo didn't disappoint at all. I highly recommend going. Everyone around me was really surprised i knew the entire catalogue of what they chose to play. All i said was that it's my dads fault! He never shows his passion for music like most of us do, he comes off as just a casual fan who just likes the music and doesn't need to see any live shows. I knew he had fun and I was really glad I got to go with him They were my favorite band before DL, and now they're my second favorite band lol. And if any of you ignored their later album Final Stage GO PICK IT UP IT'S BETTER THAN YOU THINK! That is all

I'll be seeing them supporting Leppard in dec so it'll be interesting to see how many remain in the set then. I can understand them plugging the new album, but 9 is a lot. Especially when WS have such a huge back catalogue of songs.

Slash best of to be released in Japan. melodicrock.com/articles/news-feed/2015/06/02/japan-issue-slash-best-july-8#.VW0tvqDumk0.twitterSo just what is 'Conspiracy Theory Volume 1'? Well, it is the name assigned to a 12 track SLASH 'BestOf' release due via Universal Japan on July 8. It looks as if that's not a title Slash came up with, but rather a new Best Of compilation series that will take on one artist at a time. Further information as it comes to hand. As for this release - it's all a bit pointless really - but will feature the following tracks: 01. Beautiful Dangerous (Feat. Fergie) 02. Doctor Alibi (Feat. Lemmy Kilmeister) 03. Watch This (Feat. Dave Grohl & Duff Mckagan) 04. Sahara (Feat.Koshi Inaba) 05. Apocalyptic Love 06. One Last Thrill 07. You’re A Lie 08. Bad Rain 09. World On Fire 10. Shadow Life 11. 30 Years To Life 12. Too Far Gone

TurnToDust86 seeing as you like The Darkness, did you ever listen to the Stone Gods album? When The Darkness split up the drummer, guitarist and their second album album bass player formed The Stone Gods. They only released one album and I believe had a second in the can ready to release before The Darkness surprisingly reformed. I hear some of Burn the Witch in Barbarian.

Just listened to those tracks and I really enjoyed them. Obviously there is some Darkness flavor in there but the singer definitely gives them a different sound. Might have to pick up that CD.
