Heard the new version of Stormbringer this morning on Planet Rock. I actually think it sounds really good. Very much in line with the sound of Whitesnakes recent albums. I like it.

@shawn what do you think of the new Thunder cd? what did you think? Like you I think its missing some hooks, songs that grab you. Listen to any of their earlier albums and theres always some great riffs or lyrical hooks to draw you in. Its certainly not as immediate as some of their other stuff and its taking a lot of listening to. But I'm willing to give it time. Having said that there are some very good tracks on it, I really like Wonder Days, Resurrection Day, Serpentine, The Prophet and When The Music Played (that middle section where it changes tempo is killer). Overall its very solid, well produced, well packaged and all in all so far it seems like a good comeback for them. It was interesting to read that they split because of the amount time the singer had to spend managing the band and sorting out their own label. Now they've got co-management in and they are also signed to a label so its taken a lot of pressure off them. But I couldn't help but equate it to the Leps situation. Thunder have just had a top ten UK album and I've seen loads of copies of it around in record shops, if a smaller band can do it like Thunder then hopefully Leps can.

Interesting, word last week was that it would be Whitesnake. Unless that was a mistake?

I read somewhere that there were plans for that but talks broke down so it isn't happening.

This is my favorite Styx song! And I was at this show, so that's pretty cool (however I remember this sounding better live).
Anyway, we all get to see them again this summer, woohoo!

Kiss are the reason why I havent yet booked tickets for the last day of Download Festival, I really fancy seeing Crue and Slash, but Kiss headlining is really putting me off. They are a poor live sounding band now IMO.

i'm guessing the Def Leppard / Kiss Tour didn't work out because of the October timeline with Kiss.
If Whitesnake doesn't hit Australia with Def Leppard maybe Tesla and another band will.

And good to see Ben on good form just like Viv all that really matters is that he is ok I'm going to see them tonight in Birmingham, although I seem to have lost my tickets Its really cool to see them finally get a shot at headlining arena shows after 25 years. Well deserved IMO. I agree on Ben, great to see him back. I read an interview with him in the last issue of Classic Rock and he was very open about the treatment he had to have. Strangley of my 3 favourite bands (Leppard, Thunder and Maiden) one member in each is or has been battling cancer recently. Terrible illness.

First Andy hope you find your ticket!! And your right it's good to see thunder playing arena headline show, leeds was about 75% full so a good turn out and they had a bigger stage show than I was expecting, big video screen behind them and a moving lighting rig but most important they played a blinder of a show really on top form and Ben just had a big smile on his face all the way through the show!

Thats pretty good going for them, that place must be around 14,000 capacity too. By the looks of it, tonights show in Birmingham is a half arena show, so I'd imagine there will be around 6000 people there. They are arguably the best live band I've ever been to see, rarely do you hear an off day or the singer having a shocker. Panic over on the tickets, turns out they were never delivered so I'll pick them up later.

Great show last night in Birmingham. They effortlessly look at home on the big stage. It was a half arena show, as the stage had been moved towards the rear of the arena with the rest curtained off behind. I'd estimate there were around 6000 people there. Lots of new songs were played, that I enjoyed more live funnily enough. Really good to see Empty City in the set, that's their Kashmir or Gods of War. Plenty of songs I wish they could have played but that's the one good thing about your favourite bands, there are lots of good songs to pick from. These guys seem to be getting better with age. Brilliant.

Thunder playing to very good sized crowds in the UK and playing lots of new songs from there new album take note leppard! I do think it makes a difference playing in front mostly your own fans instead of a mixed crowd

Kiss has just announced Steel Panther as the final band to join Kiss Kruise V.
Oh boy, if they went on the Def Leppard cruise, I don't know if I could resist...

This was one of my favourite albums of the last couple of years, I really enjoyed it. Luckily I managed to catch them at the Download Festival last year too. I imagine their visits to the UK will be few and far between.
