Definitely a lot less collaboration on the writing this time around between the band members, which I guess is due to them probably all writing at home during the pandemic. As for Viv, I would guess he is focusing his writing efforts on the Last in Line stuff these days.

Well if Viv can’t be bothered to contribute to the day job, I don’t have to be bothered to contribute to his side project. Already skipped their last make up show in my area that I had tickets for, I’m skipping their show around here next month, and whatever interest I had left just went out the window after seeing those credits.

I’m a bit bothered by the credits as well. I don’t know if Viv offered up any ideas, or if the other guys just kinda put his ideas aside. BUT, I really hope Phil doesn’t do to this record what he did to Tesla’s latest release. I’m still incredibly excited, especially for the tracks that Joe wrote himself, or just with one other person. I personally lovvveddd his latest DNO album. But I’m on the same page as other posters here; as long as the album is properly leppardized, I’ll love it. I also am not a fan of any of the bands that influenced them! But so far, Kick sits very well with me, so Phil did good on that!

I thought this was just conjecture...this is indeed the final writing credits? Source? If so the writing collaboration is quite light in general with no songs that have more than 2 composers and it's also interesting there are more outside writers than Sav credits. I get that it was during a pandemic and you probably won't find most of their recent songs having more than 2-3 composers also, but it looks like when they talked about all of the e-mail trading of song bits it was relegated to Joe and Phil. I remember a Viv quote from the last album where he said he was disappointed he didn't have the opportunity to write more for self titled...it's a shame if he indeed has no writing credits. I have really enjoyed his contributions over the years. While I'm sure the album will still be great and I'm not looking forward to it any less the credits are definitely eyebrow raising if these are indeed it. This is it, like it or not! ;-) 1. I wasn't so bothered by what Phil did to the Tesla release. I actually liked what he did.... IF it were a Def Leppard album. I think my issue was basically what he did was "Leppardize" Tesla. Yeah, there were a few bad songs on that album. But I also think some of the songs on that album might've sounded better as Def Leppard songs than Tesla songs. Tesla is a band that should be doing gritty, in your face melodic hard rock....not "sugary" type tunes (like Taste Like, Shock, etc). Def Leppard on the other hand can get away with those "sugary" type tunes. I feel like Kick is a good example. That sounds great to me as a Leppard tune because I expect and want that kind of fun, catchy, melodic tune from them. But I'm not sure I'd like that song as much if Tesla did it. Either way, definitely think my enjoyment of the new album is going to depend on how much it's "Leppardized". Give me a bunch of catchy tunes with layered guitars and backing vocals that make for a huge feeling sound, and I'll be elated. It's when the ignore those things that I'm often left scratching my head a bit as to me those are the signature Def Leppard elements. AS for Viv and the writing credits, I'm not sure I'm all that bothered. Sure, it would be nice to see him more involved. But he really has never seemed to be overly involved in writing for Leppard outside of a few songs. I get the feeling he's just happy playing his parts and going with the flow. I mean, you don't see Rick writing much either. He's happy playing his parts and doing his art. I guess I feel like these guys have been around a long time and have probably settled into their roles. I’m a bit bothered by the credits as well. I don’t know if Viv offered up any ideas, or if the other guys just kinda put his ideas aside. I just get kind of bummed seeing no credits for Viv, knowing how iconic he is. Plus, the song Work It Out is one of my favourite lepp songs. I really hope there’s some songs on DSH with a Slang vibe

Do we know for sure those are the final credits and Viv really had no input or is this just what we can gather so far?

The UPC listed on the Target website is 602438945153 and the photo shows translucent vinyl. The UPC listed on the Tower Records Japan website is 602438945153 and the photo shows opaque vinyl. I think they are the same thing. If you mean the pupil on the center label is red in one image and not the other, I think that is just how the records overlap. The Target one, you can actually see the red vinyl through the yellow one which you can’t on the others. It could be like a stock photo and my wallet hopes they are the same;-)

An I right in assuming that all the countries carrying the clear /translucent vinyl are actually the same release? Same for the coloured vinyl too?

No guessing here. :-) Not surprised by what’s been said from the guys about the album but still really disappointed. I feel Viv has been quite unlucky in some aspects with his time in Def Leppard. Never felt he has put his mark down on the band on record. He certainly did in a live sense though, improving the backing vocals immensely.

If Viv isn't mentioned, that could just mean it either isn't a Viv song, or it wasn't a significant impact on the overall structure sound of the song? So he could have had plenty of input, but just not brought any songs to the table. Or he did and they were not selected for the album?

There’s a new, interesting tweet from the band’s official account. If someone could explain how to embed tweets, I’ll do it. I don’t know why I’m not able to do it.

Same thing with the vinyl picture disc. The picture disc version shows one disc in b&w and one in colour on the uDiscover Music site with product code 3894517U. The MusicVaultz site for Canada shows both picture discs in colour with product code 3894517. I have to figure they are the same but could get a surprise.

Given the way this album was recorded, there is no excuse for not having different versions of the songs too, including early demos. I am really looking forward to hearing those at some point.

They say this is an Irish exclusive but I’m not convinced it’s different to the one that was listed last week on all the other record selling sites. Unless someone knows differently?

saying this as someone born in ireland (north anyway) but they spelt def as deff, so could be irish exclusive!
yet to make up mind on which vinyl to buy, stuck between standard and pic disc t shirt bundle. costs almost as much in import taxes to have sent to thailand as vinyl and t shirt itself. think have sent to northern ireland and fingers xx collect this summer. buy download for big day.

I think right now everyone has said what has needed to be said about the album/single/formats/video etc….I’m still playing kickt multiple times daily, but there’s not much to say regarding any new info towards the album. I’m perfectly happy letting Kick sink in my dna for the next couple weeks and I’m gonna guess we will get another song in April before the album!

I can appreciate the time and editing. Anything negativity is pointless.
