The part that bothers me is how some bands are obviously snubbed for years!

RNRHOF is a piece of effin . That being said, I don't mind if the Leps get inducted (although I doubt it).
But I do find hard to picture Joe smiling humbly and saying his thanks after spitting on them earlier LOL

I've pretty much always viewed the RNRHOF as a joke and without much credence at all. I was in Cleveland this past fall and walked right past this place with no desire whatsoever to enter.
Personally, I really think that instead of calling it a "Hall Of Fame"....They should just do away with the whole HOF thing and change the name of it to the "Rock N Roll Museum". Stop trying to glorify certain artists and just make it more about the history of rock and roll with various exhibits and such.
Musical accomplishments are getting tougher and tougher to measure....and tastes are so varied these days....and there are so many different kinds of music that fall in the rock spectrum that it's almost impossible to find artists that everybody agrees should be relegated to elite status in a "Hall of Fame". Music is so subjective....I consider myself a pretty big music fan and there are a large number of artists in the Hall Of Fame I've never even heard of. I just find that strange....I mean...I'm a big NFL football fan as well and I can look at the Football Hall of fame and I at least recognize almost all of the names....
I'd much rather see them make it the Rock N Roll Museum and bill it as such. Celebrate the history and evolution of rock and have displays of the acts that have shaped the rock n roll landscape. Could maybe have some featured artists each month, sponsor some annual music festivals that pay homage to great acts of the past and present, etc ,etc....Lots of different things they could do to keep the rock and roll spirit alive.
But stop with the super-exclusive club format that they have going that only seems to frustrate many rock n roll fans and alienate artists.

I think it's a total joke! You have artists that are in the RNRHOF there that shouldn't be for one! Me personally, I don't think RAP or Disco artists should be in there. Then you have the issue you have a lot of these artists who have been eligible for years that haven't gotten in, why? It's like the board makes up their own rules as they go along, it's stupid. Not to mention you have band members that have either died, don't speak to each other anymore, left the band and have been replaced for years and what you're gonna have an original member of a band be inducted into the RNRHOF who's been kicked out of the band for over 25 yrs and then NOT induct the guy who replaced him and is still an active member! That's ridiculous and do think any of these bands really give a one way or the other if they are even inducted, I highly doubt it. They didn't start a band get into the RNRHOF!

I'd be happy for them and I'd be there :-) Do I think its BS that a lot of deserving bands have not been inducted? Yes Do I think that a lot of BS artists are in there that shouldn't be? Yes But I still would be psyched if my boys were finally inducted :-)

I want them to get in badly...there I said it! They are arguably the biggest band of an entire era of music with sales numbers that will never be bested. Pyromania was simply ground breaking at the time and set into motion the entire 'hairband" movement. Looking back, a lot of people now feel that "hair metal" was kind of a joke, but at the time it was as real as it gets. Disco was the same way, and is now staring to get its due. 80's rock music deserves recognition as well. I feel that it is an insult that Def Leppard haven't even been on the ballot yet.

My favorite band is Rush (DL #2). They were snubbed for so long that I didn't even think about it anymore. BUT, when they got in last year, it was the best. 80% of the audience were Rush fans and we took over the place. It was awesome and so much fun! The only reason Rush got in was because of the fans making so much racket about it. DL fans need to make a lot more noise and make it an issue. When your band isn't in, you say it doesn't matter, but when they do get in, it's really the greatest. They'll get in eventually, and I'll see you all there at the induction.

I think that Phil Collen put it best when he said that he doesn't care one way or the other as when he looks on his wall at home he sees the awards for sales of over 10 million for Pyromania and Hysteria and the fact that they are members of a small group of Rock Bands who have managed this the others being The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Van Halen and Led Zeppelin.

My argument has always been, you can't sell over a hundred million recordings and not influence multiple generations of musicians, fans and the industry itself... when your career lasts multiple generations you've gone above and beyond being just a great band...a band like Def Leppard continues to influence new generations of music fans ...when you look out into the audience and see 3 generations of fans singing every word to your songs... that is the real hall of fame.... not some list a bunch of out of touch donkeys compiled... it's a real shame because if the HOF was in the right hands it could be something all would be proud of... but sadly it continues to be this big joke each year.

Def Leppard and Iron Maiden should be on this list. Perhaps after the debacle of KIss last year and Joe's and I would assume Maiden's attitude to the HOF may not want a repeat. It's a sin if The Smiths get in before Leppard but would imagine on voting patterns Green Day, NIN, Lou Reed, The Smiths (huge Morrisey hardcore) and Stevie Ray would be top 5 before the "proper judges" have an input.

I stopped paying attention to the HOF a long time ago. When a band that has sold over 100 million records doesn't even get a nomination, it tells me what a farce the whole thing is. And the fact that they continue to put out new music, tour regularly, and have the longevity DL has experienced, it's ridiculous.

Going back to Pete - he's certainly been marginalised on the Leps discography page, (which I don't agree with), which makes me think they wouldn't be comfortable with him being inducted too. I think that they would be fine with inducting Pete, but I don't think that they would go out of their way to get him in like they would with Viv. I was about to post this. No Viv, no Leps at the induction. I cannot believe this is a debate.

Joe has said in interviews that he doesn't care about being inducted (I'm putting it nicely) and I really don't think he does...and I don't think any of them would do it w/o Viv...but I think they belong there far more than some of the people who are nominated and who are already in.

The RHOF is a big joke. "Rock & Roll" Hall of Fame. If any artist embodies a huge impact in the genre and lasting popularity while staying relevant, it's Def Leppard. No disrespect to the nominees, but COME ON! Nine Inch Nails over Def Leppard? Bill Withers (blues)? The Spinners (Philly Soul)? Kraftwerk is more important to Rock & Roll than Lepps? This is just stupid!

Madonna is in the RNRHoF. I rest my case. Oh there is a long list of "I rest my cases" Here are just a few of the head scratchers for me... 1994 - Bob Marley 1997 - Parliament-Funkadelic 2009 - Run–D.M.C. 2012 - Beastie Boys 2013 - Public Enemy If you looks that genres of the above bands most of them are a FAR REACH from being considered ROCK & ROLL. I think there are 2 ways to look at this bizarre situation. There are bands or individuals whose music isn't considered Rock & Roll that have been inducted. There other is how soon some bands are inducted at such and early point in their careers and others like the list in this image below that have sold so many records, had so much influence over their careers and have been snubbed year after year. And if some of them ever get the nod most of their members will already be dead. (Deep Purple / Jon Lord) But the list of inductees that are in before the Lepps or some other bands is long and odd. I really have no respect for the debacle that the RRHOF has become. (Talking Heads, Prince, Madonna, R.E.M., Red Hot Chili Peppers, Donna Summer, Nirvana,) There is and interview that Eddie Trunk did with the CEO if the RRHOF in 2011. Very interesting on the how the whole process works.

At quick glance, I've never heard of 6-7 of the nominees. And there are a couple others that I've heard of but couldn't name you a song by. Music has always been a big interest of mine...Amazes me that year after year acts come up for nomination or get put into the HOF that I somehow have never even heard of. And I'd bet I could ask 25 people I work with and none of them would've heard of many of them either. But, I'd bet the ranch that those 25 people would have at least heard of Def Leppard

Just curious if the band has ever mentioned their thoughts on the hall of fame? Does everyone know the story about Rush and Alex Lifeson's acceptance speech? My husband has a t-shirt where the letters RUSH have "blah blah blah blah blah" inside.
