Unbelievable news today that Chris Cornell of Soundgarden passed away yesterday aged just 52. BBC news link"Chris Cornell has died at the age of 52, his representatives have confirmed. He was best known as the lead singer in Soundgarden and Audioslave, and also performed the theme song to the 2006 James Bond film Casino Royale." "In a statement, Cornell's representative Brian Bumbery said his death was "sudden and unexpected". It also said the family would be working closely with the medical examiner to determine the cause and asked for privacy. Stars pay tribute to Chris Cornell Cornell died shortly after playing a concert with Soundgarden in Detroit on Wednesday evening." Photo by Brian Bumbery

What a shock to hear. Just saw them perform recently in Jacksonville during the Rockville Festival. I'm at a loss for words at the moment.

I know we have members of all ages here and i remember a time when i thought 52 was old and now when i hear about people passing away for whatever reason at that age it's shocking... it seems like half a life lived. My thoughts go out to his family, friends and fans.

Un-freakingbelievable. I'll be 52 this year, like Shawn, it doesn't seem that old anymore. He posted on his Twitter page just 9 hours ago. So sad.

I'm shocked and sad. Soundgarden has always been one of my favorite bands. They were scheduled to perform at Rocklahoma.

Just as shocking as when I woke up to the news about Scott Weiland. Another great front man gone way too soon. I really enjoyed both Soundgarden and Audioslave as well as some of his solo work. One of the most distinctive voices I've heard. I was hoping to see Soundgarden put out another album. Speaking about age I'm only 36 but every time I see someone that has an impact on me pass away I feel a bit older. RIP.

It bad enough being a fan of an artist that you follow but spare a thought for his family and young kids too. Heartbreaking news.

So sad as to what drove him to do that, especially someone who seemingly had the world at their feet.

Stunning news to wake up to today. Wasn't a big fan of his but enjoyed some Soundgarden (and really liked the song he did with Slash) but was considering grabbing a last minute ticket to see them in St. Louis on Saturday.
Having watched a few videos from the show last night, he was clearly off. Reminds me of the videos of Scott Weiland's show in Corpus Christi in 2015.
Crazy that four of the five biggest grunge bands have lost their frontmen now.

I was in Dallas summer 1992, Temple of the Dog's Hunger Strike was my favourite song that summer. Brilliant album. Then moved onto Soundgarden and Audioslave's first 2 albums. Immense talent. RIP.

So tragic and sad. Heard tributes on multiple radio stations today. Hearing Say hello 2 heaven from Temple of the Dog was nice and appropriate.

Crazy that four of the five biggest grunge bands have lost their frontmen now. Thats an unbelievable stat. I feel lucky to have seen Soundgarden live when they supported GnR back in the early 90's, but those pioneering bands and artists will go down in history. And Pearl Jam aside they would in a similar position to some of the classic rock bands of the 80's soon, massive again from a touring point of view as their time comes around again, its such a pity they couldn't keep it together.

Crazy that four of the five biggest grunge bands have lost their frontmen now. I did the same... It was strange he seemed fine in between songs but as soon as he started singing it's like his coordination was gone. Amazing stat about 4 of 5 frontmen gone.

especially someone who seemingly had the world at their feet. At a glance I agree with you - however he might not have had a buddy or a friend to let steam out. Sometimes people who have the world at their feet are incredibly lonely and shy in a weird sort of way and question their own value and wonder if they are worth it. Hopefully if he had any kids they have someone or something to help get them through this. One thing I will say for certain, and not because he has passed either, even while he was alive people knew he had talent. Jimmy Page, Joe Perry and others always said he was a talent. I was never a grunge kid but I did own all of his work from bands to solo material.

When I saw this on my phone earlier this afternoon, I thought it was a hoax. And then it was spreading like wildfire throughout the news and social media. I found it hard to believe. Then Mike Shinoda (Linkin Park) stated on twitter that it was true. I always liked Linkin Park and they were even on my concert bucket list.
