This just finished on Planet Rock. An entire hour of playing Pyromania tracks with comments from Joe in between.
Joe was asked what's coming up for Def Leppard. He says they have a ten year plan. Specifically mentioned the upcoming tour with Journey and the documentary film as coming up.
Tracks played: Rock, Rock Stagefright Too Late For Love Foolin' Comin' Under Fire Photograph Action! Not Words Rock of Ages
As I was listening, I came to wonder if Joe chose which songs were played and if those are the songs that will be included in the setlist this year. Perhaps not all of them every show, but some every show and the others in a rotational slot. Then Action! Not Words was played and I thought, well.... maybe not. Just doesn't seem likely they would include that in the setlist.

My prediction for US summer tour and Pyromania inclusions in the setlist:
The usual 3: Foolin', Rock of Ages, Photograph
Then 3 more including the never played before song referenced by Sav: Too Late for Love, Rock Rock and Comin' Under Fire
What you want to see is them opening with Stagefright!

It's really exciting to see the band not only this active at this stage in their career but also this unpredictable. The new one off song with Tom Morello and the never before played live song are just 2 recent examples. If the next 10 years are anything like the last few, we have a lot to look forward to. Hopefully there's a healthy amount of new music in this 10 year plan of theirs.

The filming for documentaries is the 'Goosebumps' for me. I concur with pooley - Stagefright as an opener would be fantastic to see again!

I spect more box sets on this ten year plan Well I imagine we’ll get a hysteria boxset and an Adrenalize boxset within that time frame, both in the same vein as The Early Years, London to vegas and Pyro 40.

At this stage of their career that 10 year plan should see something happening every year in terms of musical or video releases and tours, which is indeed whats happened this last 3 years....
2022 - tour / DSH 2023 - tour / Drastic Symphonies 2024 - tour / Pyro 40

My thoughts exactly. I just love how driven these guys are. We don't always hear a lot about it but it seems like there's always something cooking behind the scenes. I've been listening and watching quite a few older interviews lately and it's clear these guys have been driven from the beginning and it's much more than just money driving them, especially at this stage. That's really apparent when listening to deeper interview with Joe. He's just a huge fan of music and has tremendous respect for the history of music and Def Leppard's place in that history. I feel like these guys genuinely love what they do and let's face it.....IMO the legacy of a band ultimately comes down to the catalog of music they leave behind. I feel like by continuing to add to that catalog of music, they just keep building that legacy and they keep people talking about Def Leppard. So yeah, for me more new music is still a big piece of the Leppard puzzle so to speak It's really exciting to see the band not only this active at this stage in their career but also this unpredictable. The new one off song with Tom Morello and the never before played live song are just 2 recent examples. If the next 10 years are anything like the last few, we have a lot to look forward to. What documentary could they be doing 😁? Would love Animal Instinct 89 to Rob There is the long discussed possible Netflix documentary as mentioned by Lee Ford in his BBC Radio Sheffield interview last year. Lee and Ben McFarlane were filming on the Hysteria and More UK Tour 2018 and at my three shows there were signs up saying a documentary was being filmed. All of us who had a meet and greet were filmed. Lee mentioned that significant filming was undertaken in 2019 and especially the rock and roll hall of fame. The documentary team were also seen on the stadium tour 2022 and in the UK 2023. Whilst in Sheffield last year for the full weekend events, I saw multiple fans being interviewed. Sure is exciting!!

Listened to the Planet Rock Pyromania special again and transcribed exactly what Joe said about upcoming Def Leppard Projects:
What is still on the wish list to do? What have you got planned for Def Leppard?
Joe: We have at least a ten year plan. God willing, health allows and just general life allows to happen. It's a wishlist. It's not necessarily a plan, but we're not thinking of knocking on the head anytime soon, so we've got lots of things on the go. We're writing new music. We obviously want to make another album. Initially, the first thing we've got going is this 26 show American tour with Journey and Steve Miller or Heart or Cheap Trick depending which city it is. We've also got a bit of film documentary stuff in the makings. So there's a lot of fingers in a lot of pies.

It's like Joe said in Behind The Music (I think it was Behind The Music). that the band was looking to become like the Stones, and they are getting there. They're a Stadium act that can tour every year and draw a crowd, they can release new music that is well-received by the diehards (but the back catalog will always be the draw to most), and they can work at the pace they want to, rather than the "burn out and crash" cycles of when they were younger. It's a beautiful thing.

They are a Stadium act as long as they are packaged with another high caliber band plus a popular support act...They can't draw a stadium crowd by themselves like the Stones, don't see it happening.

I would guess soon we should hear more about upcoming releases. Who's going to put down bets on the date? They have seemed to like using eventful dates recently for releases (St. Patrick's Day/Memorial Day weekend etc.). If I were taking a guess on a date we get the single, it would be the summer solstice in the US - June 20th. The first official day of summer right before the summer tour that would at that point be approximately 2 weeks away. Then the question is, do we just get a one off brand new song? Is there anything else they will add to make it a mini-EP? I would really appreciate getting that official recording of the HEROES cover one of these days as an example...! Definitely looking forward to seeing what they have up their sleeve.

We know they got the bramil lane/leedmill shows recorded and it seems a live set is on the horizon. They mentioned a one off single as well so I could see that attached on to the end like Undefeated was. If that’s the case I’d say early June announcement with release early July for everything just in time for tour kick off

I like your thinking! I was hoping we could get surprised for Memorial Day weekend but that's come and gone. I definitely think we see the new song before the tour starts if they have any notion of putting it in the set. I'd think you want to give people a little time to get familiar with it and use it to help promote the upcoming tour. I'm sure we'll get a couple days worth of teases before it actually drops though It will be interesting to see if the single is part of anything else. Have to think that the Bramall Lane and Leadmill shows are probably coming out in a package of some sort similar to the London to Vegas set at some point. Would they toss the new single into that? I personally kind of hope not as the OCD in me just prefers original songs on proper studio albums. But then again, at this stage I'll take new music however I can get it! Hopefully soon!
