I really have a soft spot for the Bonn Germany 92 club gig! Do you have a favourite live version of the song Hysteria?

Is that the one from Adrenalize Deluxe? If so, yeah, that is great. It has the Hysteria Deluxe (ITRIFY) opening too which is hard to beat.

Yes, the extend bass intro! It’s a club gig where the crowd is singing, and the background vocals are killer, and the guitars have this awesome growl, and Ricks drums sound amazing. It’s just always stood out, even better than Don Valley really. Which has its own unique sound too. Is that the one from Adrenalize Deluxe? If so, yeah, that is great. It has the Hysteria Deluxe (ITRIFY) opening too which is hard to beat.

I chose the Denver show because my favorite wasn’t listed. It’s my opinion that the best version is from a bootleg called Seven Days. Recorded at Sheffield City Hall in 1992. There was a power failure in the middle of the song. Only Rick’s drums and Joe’s mic had power. The way the band came in as the gear was being powered back up sounds epic. Very bluesy and a bit ad-libbed. Maybe someday, someone who may or may not be affiliated with this or another forum, might upload this particular version to YouTube. (Hint, hint Andy) 😉

When the power first went off to the guitars I think people thought it was a new version of the song initially. Here’s the audio of Hysteria from that show, it already exists on YouTube;

Of those I think the Bonn version that’s on the Adrenalize deluxe is the best. Joe is at his peak here.

Rock Hall in Brooklyn 2019.
It may not be the best note-for-note version, but there’s a noticeable satisfaction, being comfortable with one’s place in Rock history. It feels confident and the audience - not exactly theirs at the start - is quickly won over.

Andy, didn’t realize that recording was posted there. And of course, having a recording of the first time you saw them is awesome. My first time was in 1993, Hartford, CT. And like you, I have that recording as well. 🤘🏼🤘🏼

Do you have a favourite live version of the song Hysteria? For me, it will always be ITRIYF with Sav's intro (sorely missed) and Phil's 'Goosebumps' outro!

The ITRIYF will always be special, that is for sure. It is a shame they cut it for the Hysteria Deluxe CD, but understandable for those who are not familiar with the video version.

Sonically, it's the Adrenalize Deluxe version. But from a visual standpoint, nothing will ever beat the ITRIYF concert version.

The Hysteria tour presentation was fresh and new, its virtually impossible to beat, but I can't think off the top of my head what the Adrenalize tour did for the ITR shows with lasers etc on that particular track, I think I'll dig one of the bootleg dvds out and see.

I was fortunate to see them in Binghamton NY (my first Lep show) in October 1992. I just think of the versions that I've heard, the one from the Adrenalize tour sounded cleaner and fuller IMO, especially the intro. Wish they would bring back that intro for this next tour and do away with the Stadium tour ending.

HANDS DOWN my favorite version is the current live version that they've been playing on the Stadium Tour with the "Can You Feel It?" ending.

I had seen clips of this posted online when the Stadium Tour was in full swing. I wondered 'in the flesh' if it would match my ITRIYF favourite version. When i saw both Boston shows in 2022 in person, I absolutely saw what all the fuss was about! It was sensational and gave my goosebumps! The crowds reaction to it was magical. Fast forward a year later, when I saw the UK gigs in Sheffield and Wembley, the crowd reaction was the same! I think it will be around for a long time yet!

Yes! I had the same reaction seeing it live. It really was an experience that you need to experience live to get the full vibe. I agree, it'll be a part of the live show for some time to come.

Tie between 1987/8 and 2023. 1988 for intro and 2023 for outro. We need the 1987/8 version beginning with the 2023 current ending, then back to the Adrenzalize ending with the vocals from 1992. Joe's vocals on the In the Clubs release will never be beat, especially with the echo effects. Hearing the Sheffield power outage as I write this for the first time. The middle is absolutely beautiful with the Adlib, uh I mean pre-recorded track. You can clearly tell this was pre-recorded on a CD for this homecoming show. Probably did it on purpose to prove they are not lip syncing. Yeah, I'm kidding.
