What a night. Just got in and officially going thru the post concert withdrawals. I can honestly say this was the best I have ever seen the band play and they were as tight as ever. More on that in a min.
I was pretty vocal in this thread about being worried the show wouldn’t sell well, but I can happily say it looked just about close to a full house , a lot better than what it was looking. Another thing is it’s nice to see a good amount of younger fans showing up as well. Keeps the bands legacy’s alive.
Alice Cooper was great. I wasn’t super familiar with his stuff minus the hits but he was just fun and had his whole gimmicks in tact. Shout out to his band as well, they are phenomenal and I was esp in awe of Nita. She’s a incredible player.
Brings me to Motley….there’s been many debates about if they even play live and backing tracks etc….tbh in the actual concert setting they are just a fun band and the crowd did respond well to them. Vince didn’t sound horrid but no where near a ten star performance. The star of the group is John 5 for me. Having seen him before in Rob Zombie, I feel he gets to shine a bit more in Motley when it comes to showing off. The other stars of the band are the two dancers. I almost felt they were on the big screen just as much as the band. It’s clear there’s backing tracks, funny enough the most blatant one to me was on their newest song The Dirt. Vince wasn’t even trying to hit those notes. All in all tho they were fun and mix a little bit of alcohol in most people almost probably could care less about the issues.
And last we have Leppard. I can’t stress how amazing this band is live. The professionalism they show on stage just blows Crue out of the whole
ocean. Its a hit set but we knew that going in. However the one song that shocked me of how good live it sounds is This Guitar. The harmonies the band does is just goosebumps to me and it really brings that Eagles vibe to the song more than how it sounds on DSH. Kick also sounds killer
live and it fits the stadium anthem they were looking for. One of my favorite moments of the night was during and after Ricks drum solo.Seeing peoples reactions to it just put a huge smile on my face and he got one of the loudest cheers of the night.
All in all this was a great night and great show. All 3 acts are very different in the way they present there shows which makes for a variety but Leppard just stick out as far as just sounding damn near perfect.
One last thing…. Heroes needs to be released…it sounded so good over the PA.
