Thoroughly enjoyed tonight, a triumph. Joe bit raspy to start but soon hit his stride. Sound very good and the visuals impressive.
Lytham tomorrow assuming buses leave on time. First bus at 730am, connecting bus in Birmingham at 11am.
Put attendance at about 40000.

Great show as always by the band. Crowd did fill up for leppard . Big venue though so maybe next time smaller London venue if available. Crue for me weren't great. Maybe because I was on floor seating bit I am done with their overhyped theatrics to be honest. This was last show for me on this tour. Hopefully see them next year Usa or maybe orchestral shows in UK. Ps getting to and fro Wembley for me was nightmare and stressful lol 😆 Until next time

Great pictures. Those who went to both, which did you enjoy most? Wembley or Sheffield? Or is that not a fair question?

Just back home from London I thought Leppard was amazing even better than Sheffield to be honest, Crue was better as well but still not in the same league as Leppard. The only thing I would say is the floor looked poor being half empty they should have not sold the top tier and had standing behind the seating. The crowd was loud and everyone around me was out of their seats singing and dancing around for all of Leppard's set! The only sad part of the gig was when about 30 people tried to storm the floor from the stands during Rock Of Ages security did a great job why do some people act like morons at gigs?

This was the one to go to, amazing. I've seen Lepp so many times over the last 20 years and this show was up there with some of the best. Seemed like they had an extra 10% tonight over Sheffield.
The power of Joe's vocals compared to Vince.. Crue should be embarrassed compared to that. They were okay but Leppard in a different league

Amazing. Loved Sheffield, so Wembley MUST have been good! Glad so many people had such a great time.

A big late but here’s my take. For any English football fan Wembley is the most iconic ground in the country, if your favourite team is good enough it’s a place to go and see them play in a final or to go and see the English national team to play their games. I’ve been lucky enough to see my team play there and I’ve been privileged to see my son play there too. Its history in English football is rich. So to perform here as a band or an artist is prestigious. It can’t be understated how much of an honour it is to be able to put on a concert here and I’m sure it wasn’t lost on the band. The old Wembley Stadium played host to some iconic concerts, Live Aid, Queen, Wham, Madonna, Michael Jackson, INXS, Springsteen, Bon Jovi, GnR, the Freddie Mercury tribute that the Leps played at and unveiled Viv to the world . Indeed the last concert I saw here was GnR back in 1992 and Wembley has changed massively in that intervening 30 years. The old iconic old stadium was knocked down and replaced with a state of the art brand new football ground with an even bigger capacity. The whole surrounding area which was once car parks and derelict sites is now a busy hub of hotels, apartments, restaurants and from a distance Wembley is now hidden away almost in amongst the new developments. First of all the set up at Wembley for events like this is made for big occasions, there’s an army of staff outside and inside to get you around, in and out to the show safely and even at the surrounding public transport hubs up to a mile away, the whole place is geared up for these events. However despite Wembley being north London and relatively close to the motorways, it’s not actually that easy to drive around there because it is so busy on an event day in the surrounding area on the roads. My fears going into this, and also of many other fans on here, was the sales aspect for this show. The online process was a mess, the availability of seats varied and the prices were a disgrace and fluctuated even during presale. Upon getting into the venue it was clear it wasnt sold out even from the activity in the concourse. Inside the ground the floor was half covered in seats, with the back half empty. It looked ridiculous, and even though all the areas of the ground were on sale there were empty seats all over the place in the 3 tiers. Why did ticketmaster do this? Why didn’t they put the floor and sides on for sale first and leave the rear tiers empty unless demand meant it needed to be opened? It would have brought fans closer to the stage and made the sides look even more full. It was obvious that the ploy of having seats on the floor was because they felt they couldn’t sell it out with it being totally standing, but it backfired horribly I think. TBH I was actually expecting a much lower attendance than what was there. My estimate? Maybe 45,000- 50,000 people? Anyway once inside I visited the merch stand but struggled to get the grey Hysteria 2023 world tour shirt as the size I wanted was sold out. Bumped into a few familiar faces including pooley who was abstaining from Motley Crue. I went and braved the majority of their set and I have to say that first of all the sound for them was far better than it was when I saw them last at Sheffield. It was much more clear. Secondly they were probably the best I’d ever seen them too, admittedly that may be a low bar but I enjoyed them. Clearly from where I was sitting a lot of people were really into Crue, they went down really well amongst the crowd. It was a much better showing from them I felt, but the irony of their whole set is that the stuff that got the best reaction was the cover material halfway through, but they lived up to being a co-headliner this time I think. There’s not much to say about the Leps set. The choice of songs is not changed, the banter pretty much the same. The whole set moves like clock work. Everything sounds amazing. But what is evident from Joes chat is how pleased they are to be playing at Wembley stadium, it must have been a big honour for them. The fact it wasn’t sold out doesn’t make a difference to the performance or their appreciation for the people that are there. (I would give a penny for the bands thoughts on how it was handled though). But none of that matters when they came on stage, everyone was into them and from my position I would say that they went down better than they did at Sheffield, the people around me in my tier seemed more into the show, they were up and dancing and singing and shouting. I looked around and it was the case in other sections too. Dare i say that more people who were on the floor seemed more into it than the majority on the floor at Sheffield too? Because that’s how it looked to me. When I saw them at Bramall Lane I felt that PSSOM got the best reception and participation I’d ever experienced at a Lep show, I think that Wembley surpassed it. It was so loud. Also the production around Wembley stadium syncs itself with the stage too. The perimeter digital advertising boards around the middle tier can match the screen animation. The lights in the roof and the arch above the ground are synced with the stage lights. Red light, yellow light, green light and the iconic Wembley arch matching the colours on stage during PSSOM was just one example. Another detail like the entire end of the ground behind the stage is blacked out with covers so nothing gets in the way of the focus being on the stage. The whole ground is just designed to stage concerts. I went with my brother, who also attended Sheffield, on the way out we both said the same thing….. neither of us were too bothered about going, we’d seen the show in Sheffield, we knew Wembley would be the same set, we had to drive down for over 3 hours, I was recovering from a knee op and yet both of us said it was a great show and we enjoyed it more than Sheffield. The sound was definitely better as I think Wembley has better acoustics, (designed for concerts too) and the whole production around the gig in the stadium added to it as well. It was a show well worth seeing and I’m so glad that I got to experience them in Wembley Stadium. Thanks to CindyJ for uploading pics I sent and sifting through them as the show was live.

Spot on review Andy, and was great to see you there. I'm personally torn on the Sheffield/Wembley conversation (and it's perfectly natural and fun to want to decide which was best!) Wembley definitely had the better sound. The fact it was half empty gnaws away at me though I must admit and remains the fly in the ointment of what was a great gig. Wembley had the potential to be Don Valley 2, but was horribly mismanaged and i think the band were badly let down. Ironically there were more people at Wembley than Sheffield so it was actually more successful in terms of attendance, but context is everything and approx 40K in an 80k capacity stadium is not a good look. My takeaway however (and against my original thoughts when Wembley show was announced) is that Def Leppard could play Wembley Stadium again or another big venue in London (Spurs or Arsenal's grounds) and it be the truly spectacular event: Make it the only UK show of the year (like Don Valley was), have a proper day long line up with Def Leppard as the sole headliner (like DV was), 2hour set, and price appropriately and with proper standing at pitch level, and finally 'brand' it as something more bespoke (e.g like Hysteria in its entirety was) - I mean genuinely go full Swift 'eras' on it if need be or base it around the 4 most commercially successful albums High n Dry/Pyromania/Hysteria/Adrenalize...and I reckon there is still scope for Def Leppard to play their biggest UK show ever.

I think there were a couple more reasons why Wembley had the edge for me over Sheffield (yes I totally agree that the fact it wasn’t sold out and it was a mess of a sales process is a downer), but not only was it better sound I felt that the show ran smoother being as it wasn’t the first one after a break, I noticed that WLHAC was much more fluid this time around and also it looked to me like more people were into the show and all the songs. I don’t know what you thought down at the front, but it seemed that more people were willing to stand up, sing, dance, shout and play air guitar at this one. I will also give credit to Crue as well, their better sound and performance got the crowd going, whereas at Sheffield it was flat before Leps because of how bad Crue were there and the atmosphere was non existent til then. I was surprised they played Wembley given that there were a few other big shows around the country. But I love the idea of a special show at another big stadium that’s an event, an anniversary show or a dedicated “era” show is a great idea. I 100% think they could sell a stadium out for that kind of gig.
