Thought it would be nice to have a thread of books people have read lately. There are a lot of great books on music and other popular culture stuff.
I had some time of in the begining of the year and got a nice habbot of reading.
Last book i read was Mick Walls Getcha Rocks off from 2015. A part biography that details his life in the music business from late 70s to early 90s. Lots of mentions of def leppard and a section dedicated to Steve Clark. Mostly a dark book about sex, drugs & rnr. So dont expect a book on music.
Some positive mentoons of Steve, such as Page sqying to Mick that he liked hos playing.
Anyone have any books to reccommend?

Just read David Lee Roth - Crazy from the heat
Great book and a way different book than most rock biographies. Worth the read.

Catcher in the Rye. My wife's university copy has been sitting on the shelf for years. Figured I'd finally give it a read.

I find some books are like that. The story may seem kind of ugly but once understood, they have a truth to them.

The meaning has to appear and in some strange way it only appears when one is ready. I read Mark Twains Huckleberry finn and tom sawyer books this summer for the first time. And what you wrote resonated with me on those books. First they felt like kids books, but they are beautifull books with sweet stories of adventure and wonder in a way.

Eddie Van Halen by Paul Brannigan.
Read books about the band before, Roths biography (awesome) and Hagars book (also good).
But this is the first one ive read that was all about Eddie. Brannigan is a good writer imo and the book gets into the goog and the bad stuff. Music is maybe not the main focus, but its a nice balance between band, private life and music.
Biographies are getting commercialized and are starting to get very glossy imo. So resding a well researched book lile this is nice.

Currently reading Colonialism: A Moral Reckoning by Nigel Biggar. It's a more nuanced perspective on history than often gets portrayed these days.
