Is this book officially a disaster? Why what’s happened? Nothing new. The constant shipping delays.

They need to call the Genesis versions “Indefinitely” as that’s when they will seem to be released.

Now shipping in November.

I got an email today saying shipping on the limited copies is now slated for November. Pretty frustrating. They should be crediting people back 10% of the purchase price or adding something else in to reward people for their patience. I'm sure it's going to be nice and all but geez. This is taking about as long as it takes Def Lepaprd to do an album They need to call the Genesis versions “Indefinitely” as that’s when they will seem to be released.

So I emailed Genesis to have a bit of a moan about the delay for the book, saying by the time it comes out it will have been a year since ordering and that they've had fans money for a year earning interest in their bank and would they offer any goodwill discount.
The reply I got was telling me that they'd sent me an £80 gift voucher in a previous email when it had been delayed. I don't recall getting that so I'll have to check. They also said that they could send me a copy of the book for free to read in the meantime in lieu of that £80 gift voucher.

I had heard from friends in the US about this £80 discount off another book, but like you I had no email and had to get in touch. Whilst it is a gesture of good will, the question is - Is there another book from them that you want. So one option is - If you had ordered the Deluxe or Collectors signed copies, you could use this £80 discount and order yourself the ‘Publishers Copy’ which is £95 + p+p ( this comes with a High n’Dry era black and white promo photograph and a replica of a Don Valley concert ticket. I had already previously ordered this, so my £80 voucher will remain and I’ll have to see if anything appears in the next 12 months that I would like to purchase from them, using this voucher against that purchase.

Still waiting for my 2 copies (The Collector's Edition and the Publisher's Edition). I was told there was an issue with the binding. Hopefully, I'll get them sometime in November. I'm sure these will be worth the wait!!!

Good idea, Churchy. About using £80 towards another publishers copy. However I think I paid something like £60 for shipping to the US. So do I want another free standard edition or discount off the publisher copy (which I already have on order)?

This is really silly. I'm sending them another email just for the heck of it even though I'm sure I'll get the same canned response saying there are unforeseen production delays pushing back shipping. I'm starting to wonder if we'll ever see this or if they'll eventually just cancel orders and refund everybody. Going to try and remain patient though as I'm sure this will be awesome....If we ever get it! Ship date moved again. Now December. This is beyond ridiculous.

Genesis should stop messing around. Admit they cannot publish the book and refund everyone ASAP. This is a nightmare that they clearly don’t care for it’s customers.

The delays are costing them more money as they have been offering either an £80 book voucher to spend in their store or a free copy of the regular version of Definitely to UK fans as an apology for the delay.

I had am email from them saying the problem is because these editions are handmade there has been a problem getting the materials right therefore the delay. If they were automatic production line editions like the book that is already out there would of been no problem publishing without delay. For how much the book costs I dont mind the delay too much but it is frustrating. Some people I have heard from other platforms are cancelling now and I hope to get a collectors copy as could not afford both at the time with the gig tickets becoming available at the same time. Those that have cancelled will probably regret it big time when it comes out as I am sure some copies will end up on ebay for twice the price as some non fans have bought it to make money. Delay is now to January though!

Hi Justin,
Thank you for your email.
We apologise for the prolonged wait for your pre-orders.
I can confirm that you have been added to the waiting list and we will contact you if any Collector copies become available.
There are various factors that can affect the editorial and production process and the recent delays are due to the special front cover taking longer to produce than expected. The books are handmade and as a limited edition can only be published once, great care is put into each detail and step along the way. Had the production process been mechanised, we may have been in a position to never postpone the publishing date but it is unfortunately difficult to estimate exactly how long each edition will take to complete.
We are sorry that this has meant a longer wait for this highly anticipated edition and hope you can bear with us as we complete these books.
Kindest Regards
Rosie

My free copy of the standard book is due to be delivered today from Genesis. Looking forward to it.
I get that people are upset by the delays to the more expensive versions, but I think some of the social media posts are attention seeking trying to whip up a frenzy, its not going to speed it up. By the sounds of it they are too far down the line anyway to not fulfil them at some point.
