You might be right, I think they would be counting Retro since it's original material even if a lot had already been B-sides. I tried writing out a list this morning but accidentally left off the self-titled album! Still though, if this is considered 12th, then X is no longer their 10th? If we dig into it way more than we should, I think Yeah counts over Retro in terms of Lep satisfying their original 10 album contract. I believe a certain percentage had to be brand new recordings to qualify as a proper album so Retro didn't count. Yeah & SFTSL in rapid succession satisfied what they owed to the label. X was never their tenth album so it was a flawed title from the start. It was the tenth release at the time when counting Retro & Vault but what they consider albums now has seemingly changed. The addition of more compilations, live albums, and box sets only further complicates it. So I get why they would call DSH the 12th 'album' by simplifying it to a release comprised solely of new recordings (covers or not). Very informative with the contract info, thank you!

I’m getting so antsy just waiting for the new album!! These last 3 remaining weeks are going to go slow lol. What format is everyone going to give it a first listen?? For me, I’m going to listen to it digitally with headphones on, though I did also order 3 different physical versions. Hopefully we get another single to make these very long weeks easier! Wish vinyl would be my first listen of the album, but as I'm moving at the same time this is releasing, it looks like I'll have digital access first.

Which timezone does it sync to? Good question, trying to look into that, I found this answer given to someone asking the same thing "Availabilty of albums on Spotify are up to the artists (or representatives) and / or their label. New albums are usually available the official day of their release at midnight and one minute (according to the time in each country)." So possibly midnight wherever you are, unless the label decided otherwise?

That means that me living on the west coast of the USA waits multiple hours longer to listen than someone on the east coast.

I don't use those so not 100% sure

I’m in Central Time in the US and new releases typically show up online at 11PM Thursday night… so midnight Eastern time. Not sure if they delay it for the west coast.

hope lepps appear on some talk shows in united states. kimmel is based in los angeles maybe they could do a one week residency, play one new song every night, maybe have ms krauss out as well prior to joining.them for the whiskey show.
hope album has legs. fathers day is a big deal in united states, happens mid june i think. lets hope walmart, target and co all push dsh as the ideal gift.
then hope kick, then fire it up and stadium tour keep album ticking over.

There are some signed cd’s popping up on Ebay. I emailed one of the sellers about it. It’s signed on the insert/booklet. These are probably the talkshop live signed release. Makes me angry that real fans didn’t get a shot at ordering a signed copy because people looking to make a profit bought many of the available copies.

Getting descriptions are putting this album at 4 or 5 ballads 😳.. but I guess that leaves 9/10 that aren’t 🤣

That's how I'm looking at it! Easy enough on Spotify to make my own 11-12 track album out of it if I'm not fond of all the ballads 😀 We'll see though. Willing to give them a chance. Getting descriptions are putting this album at 4 or 5 ballads 😳.. but I guess that leaves 9/10 that aren’t 🤣

I had never even heard of the website until I saw your post. I was excited to order and then I saw the sold out sign. Not fair. And now it’s selling for $100 on eBay. 😢

Here are some quotes I hadn't seen before this morning about a few of the songs and thought I'd share. This is apparently taken from Guitarist Magazine's April issue. Before now I had seen nothing on LIQUID DUST and it gives us at least a bit about what to expect.
This is the best description I've read on SOS EMERGENCY and it sounds absolutely fantastic. This song along with FIRE IT UP/OPEN YOUR EYES and FROM HERE TO ETERNITY are the songs I'm looking forward to hearing the most. I'm sure there are a couple of others that we've heard almost nothing about that will catch me off guard also.
GUITARIST - APRIL 2022 ALBUM REVIEW QUOTES
Guitar Solos
"...the soloing absolutely on-point."
SOS Emergency
"That mix of power and headrush-inducing chorus is at its peak on SOS Emergency."
"Effortlessly changing up through the gears as the bridge slingshots into the chorus."
Liquid Dust
"But grand ballads such as Liquid Dust are more representative of the album's overall character."
"Orchestral, sweeping and anthemic."
"...yet do seem a little anodyne and unfocused compared with the rockier numbers."
This Guitar
"No guitarist could fail to feel their heartstrings tugged by Leppard's love-letter to the six-strings, This Guitar."
Conclusion
"...there's a 15-course banquet of uplifting rock to enjoy here."

Nice. I'm basically looking forward to the same songs lol! In general, I look forward to the rockers most. SOS Emergency sounds like it'll be excellent and in my head I'm already thinking it'll be among my favorites on the album along with TWYW, Kick and Fire It Up. I know Joe has mentioned Gimmie A Kiss as a classic Leppard rocker so looking forward to that too. This Guitar does sound like an interesting song even though it's a ballad. Liquid Dust sounds like it might be one of those interesting album type tracks. And surely U Rok Mi has to be some kind of rocker I would hope. Is it May 27th yet! http://instagram.com/p/CdSgv0wIoI7 Translation: 10 days ago, we were with #joeelliott and #ricksavage from @defleppard for an interview to be published this month in @metalxstv around the release of "Diamond Star Halos" • The opportunity to remember that the group was on the "one" of the first professional issue of @hardforce_official in April 1987, then, a year later, to accompany the phenomenal success of the album "Hysteria" and their visit to Bercy and the Printemps de Bourges. Joe and Sav signed a custom Les Paul that belonged to #SteveClark which is in the collection of @hrcparis #defleppard @replicapromo

Would be very cool if they threw in a hidden track at the end of the last song, I remember some bands doing that in the past, the last track would end and there would be a space of about 15 sec or so of silence , then the hidden track would kick in. Also does anyone know if there is a term for the non musical bits that they put on songs ? (Like Excitable Intro, or Gods of War Regan bits) , I wonder if there are any on the new release?

That President Reagan bit never fails to give me chills! Love it. I don’t think we’ll see any of these types of intros/outros though. Still, I bet this’ll be the best album since Adrenalize. They’ve been marketing this thing likr crazy!!

From this line up, I think Slang was their best album, their best work so far, artistically... This seems to be a better one, having way more time to work on the songs... And what a promotion they are doing!!! Semms like a big deal for the band, the record company, mangement, etc... Let's hope it is a great record, 27 May must be a celebration day of a 45 year old band we all love, playing Halos LOUD, cheers!!!

I'd be completely happy if Diamond Star Halos was as good as Slang or 2015 both if which I think are better than Adrenalize

Adrenalize had a huge impact as a kid when it was released, and actually, has really grown on me as I got older so it will be hard to compare. I can't imagine DSH topping the importance of Adrenalize to me, but I do love the two songs so far. So comparable to the 2015 album (which was also excellent) would be a good achievement!

I'm not really sure what my favorite album is with this lineup now that you bring it up. For me, it's definitely between Slang, Euphoria and X and kind of depends on my mood that day which I like best lol. I think in reality, if I could combine 3 or 4 songs from each of those albums into one album, then it would really be something mind-blowing. So I guess from the new one I'd like sort of a mixture made up of the best parts of those albums. Can't wait to hear it to see how it stacks up against those albums. I can understand that. Adrenalize was the first Leppard album I waited for as a 13-14 yr old kid. I absolutely adore the three song run of (Tonight, WL and Stand Up) but the rest is forgettable...for me.

Maybe because of the production, that idea could be done with just Euphoria and X, including some b-sides also
