Yesterday Live Nation filed a lawsuit alleging trademark infringement by persons selling unauthorized/fake Def Leppard merchandise in the Denver area. Read the document.

So -- this is interesting... Is this something they do for ALL concerts maybe?
They are basically suing "unknown parties" for something that they haven't done yet! They are actually suing "John Doe 1-100", "Jane Doe 1-100", and "XYZ Company" -- all clearly written as fictitious names -- for what they think they WILL do on the concert day next week (which would be selling bootleg merchandise outside the concert).
So, again, they have filed lawsuit against people that they don't know -- that have not yet committed the act! But they know it WILL happen, of course.
Makes me wonder if this is some standard thing that they do for ALL concerts there -- or if, for whatever reason, they suspect that it will be exceptionally bad at this particular show.
Very, very interesting to me!

I don't understand why they haven't cracked down on the bootleg shirts on Ebay? I think they choose what battles they fight. Think about the cost to sue each and every person on there, plus the have to prove damages. It would cost a fortune. So i bet they go after the big fish ..the ones they think are doing the most damage.

To be clear, I don't think Def Leppard has anything to do with this at all. This seems all Live Nation to me. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised at all to find out that the band doesn't even know about this lawsuit! And I still think this pre-emptive lawsuit thing is really weird. Can I go out and sue unnamed persons because I think they are likely to spray paint graffiti around my town next weekend?? Seems like that would be laughed out of court. - John...

Where did anyone say def leppard had anything to do with this? Live Nation obviously has control of the trademarks to do with as they see fit. Probably part of a 360 deal they have with many artists that include various revenue streams.
Also i think this lawsuit is just one of many steps that have taken place. Not being specific just gives them more flexibility as things progress. I'm sure they've already investigated this and know exactly what's going on. I really doubt this is some random blanket lawsuit.
