Quote from Guitar International Interview Robert: Will you be playing any of the new Def Leppard songs on the summer tour with Kiss?Joe Elliott: "We’ll get ruined by being on You Tube by midnight. We’ll have everyone banging on our door for a year asking why can’t we get the CD done. I don’t think you’ll find many bands these days doing that kind of thing, maybe smaller ones."I see it in a different light than Joe. People banging on your door because they liked a new song, would be a positive thing imo. Maybe its a diehard thing, but I would just be more excited for the new album, if they did a new song. Sure all of us on here would spend days and days debating this and that about it, but what a treat that would be for them to do that. Source

I think it would benefit them momentum wise if they start promo for the album and not stop vs releasing a song a year in advance and then be forgotten about. As much as i want new music im willing to wait for the album to be complete.

another quote from Joe from the interview about playing a new song this summer.
"A new song that’s not available to buy, everybody will tell you that’s just suicide. We wouldn’t do it anyway. That’s just my gut reaction."
I like what metallica did... they played a new song live and recorded it and then made it available. It might not even end up on an album but it shut the fans up who wanted new music....

I'm happy to wait for new music.

I'd rather wait. If they released a killer single and it got great airplay all that would be lost if we had to wait 12 months for the album.

Hmm... Which is it?
We can't play a new song opening for Kiss because no one would know it. No one buys albums. We can't play a new song because everyone would be banging on our door asking when we can get the CD done.
Classic Leppard contradiction.
I could go either way on this. Use a new song as a teaser & maybe release it on iTunes, or hold everything back and release it as an album. All that matters to me is that new music is coming one way or another.
I don't think it will be February, like Joe estimated, but hopefully next spring at the latest.
