UPDATE Joe's interview with Crash Davis is now available for replay. LISTEN HEREInterview Summary: By Cindy1. Lots of Down N Outz info and history. Nothing we didn't already know. Basically Crash brought up DNO and Joe just talked about them for 12 minutes with an occasional comment about Leppard thrown in. 2. Joe: Leppard just finished “one of the most brilliant times of our career on this tour with KISS. It was just fantastic. It's not a day job I'm wanting to quit anytime soon.” 3. Joe: “I've got a week off now. That's all I need. Then I'm back on the Def Leppard album.” 4. Joe: DNO tour in December, then Christmas. Then ramp back up and finish the Leppard record. Then Leppard back out next year working all over the world. (First 12 minutes of interview not done.) 5. Crash: Omaha needs a Def Leppard date. Joe (paraphrasing): Band has to finish the record first. Did a bit of stuff on the road. Vivian is having stem cell transplant in a week or 10 days and will be unavailable until maybe Christmas. Viv did his work for the album while on tour so the band can continue with the album while he is in the hospital. 6. Joe: Hope to have the entire album including artwork, titles and running order nailed by January. Want to put the album out by April/May and then start thinking about where the band will play. Looks like the band may start tour in Australia, New Zealand, Japan etc. and then work back through Europe and then come to the states in July/August.7. Talk about NFL appearance. Band will perform about 15 minutes prior to kick off. 90K people in London. Joe: “It's a big deal”. Then back to work on the record. Then 4 commitments in Oct/Nov. Then back to work on the album. 8. Host asks of the band still plays soccer on days off. Joe says not so much. Mostly he spends time on cross trainers but he does play five-a-side with guys his own age when at home. 9. Talk about World Cup. FYI from Jody @ BBP Joe Elliott Interview September 11th, 2014 Crash Davis 101.9 The Keg
"JOE ELLIOTT of Def Leppard is now on with my dear friend Crash Davis of 101.9 The Keg chatting about Joe's Down n Outz "The Further Adventures Of...." along with what's brewing with Leppard! Interview will air tomorrow and I'll make sure to post details on when to tune in!!" Source

Very exciting news regarding the new album. Glad they are so dedicated to getting it down and out (see what I did there?). I feel bad for Viv and really hope this treatment works and brings an end to what he's been dealing with. On that note I'm so thankful he has fought to go on tour and get his work for the album done. I had to wonder if we would see Phil handling some of his parts, which I suppose is still possible, but the fact that Viv did work while on the road is great news. Viv is indeed one of the strongest people I 'know.' This just might confirm that we'll be seeing 4/5 of Def Leppard at the NFL thing and at the shows in October/November though.

With viv out of action til Xmas it will be interesting to see who stands in for him at the scheduled live dates.
But the most important thing is that he gets well. The reality is its a terrible disease and I hope his family, friends and fans get to enjoy him for many years to come.

Very exciting news regarding the new album. Glad they are so dedicated to getting it down and out (see what I did there?). Yeah it's been so long since we've had a new DL album that i'm beyond pumped for new music. I've missed sitting down and throwing the headphones on and listening to a new album start to finish....it will be 7 years by the time this gets released where the hell did that time go? I feel bad for Viv and really hope this treatment works and brings an end to what he's been dealing with. On that note I'm so thankful he has fought to go on tour and get his work for the album done. I had to wonder if we would see Phil handling some of his parts, which I suppose is still possible, but the fact that Viv did work while on the road is great news. Viv is indeed one of the strongest people I 'know.' It just shows you that staying busy, being positive and staying healthy goes a long way in fighting this disease. He is lucky in the fact that it has worked for him. It's inspiring to watch him fight and not give up... he has a lot to live for. ....Now that Joe spilled the beans i'm sure other questions will be addressed OFFICIALLY ....

I was thinking about it the other day. A lot of bands I like have released or are releasing new albums this year and, sad to say, I've gotten used to Leppard not being one of them. So when I really think about sitting down with a full length, brand new Def Leppard album next year, it blows my mind.

I'm old enough to remember taking a day off work to go and buy new Leppard albums on LP. But the anticipation of getting a new Leppard album seems like a distant memory now. So to hear them talk of getting track listing artwork etc ready then it's finally hitting home that this is real and happening. I can't wait.

Viv has a long road ahead of him.. my heart goes out to him and his family. But he has proven over the last 2 years he is one tough SOB Aggh still kills me and will be hard to see them without him. All my prayers to Viv. It will be strange seeing someone else on stage with them no doubt. But other bands have had temp musicians come in for a few dates due to other band members injury or illness. I'm actually not to concerned about someone else coming in because I'm confident it will only be temporary. But that chemistry between the 5 Leppard members is not something that's happened by chance, they aren't a great live band by sheer luck. So I hope they have sufficient rehearsal time together with the new guy to make sure there is no audible difference. How weird is it thinking about a new band member on stage with them.

It'll definitely be weird. He has big shoes to fill with our guy.

I've had every release day off work since X (which came out two weeks after I started my very first job... Yikes). This one will definitely be no different. I just miss the part where I wouldn't know what it looked like or what the tracklist is before I walk into the store to pick it up. Now that I think about it I was "sick" when Viva Hysteria came out since I used all my time off for the year actually going to Vegas. I was fortunate to get sick on the exact day the DVD came out!

What I can say is that we saw Viv in a good mood at the hotel, considering what he's going through... For me it's important the fact that he came to us, took photos with everyone there, signed all the memorabilia we had there and he even gave us guitar picks for everyone... that's impressive, to say the least...

Best wishes to Vivian, I'm a Northern Irishman, so hope to see him back in the saddle, on tour in 2015.
Great that the band are so enthused about the new album and tour.
