Nice for the world to get to see this tour although bummer that it doesn't look like it'll leave much time for anything in the US next year. Although, I have to wonder if maybe next Aug/Sept/Oct time period could be a good time for another residency. I'm still hoping for an East coast residency though and wish they'd so a series of shows in someplace like NYC or the Hard Rock in Florida instead of Vegas for a change. It's just a bit of a hassle for folks on the East coast travel wise and they've done Vegas twice. But I'm sure Vegas would be where they'd likely go if they do one again since it's been so successful there. Or maybe some small run of Evening With Def Leppard shows in some smaller and more intimate venues/theaters? I know this is highly unlikely after playing stadiums but they could do a run of shows playing 2+ hour sets and playing some deeper cuts. They could probably charge $250 a ticket or something to a show like that and people would line up to go. They'll likely be in New Zealand, Australia and Japan during the Sep - Nov timeframe.

and then japan, Australia and more. Motley mentioned over a hundred new gigs. So if def leppard is part of that then there are a lot of shows to be announced.

A bit of history and then a question....
Def Leppard Australia, New Zealand, Japan tour history
2018: Oct 24th - Nov 12th, 9 shows 2015: Nov 9th - Nov 24th, 8 shows 2011: Oct 12th - Nov 8th, 11 shows 2008: Oct 23rd - Nov 14th, 13 shows
I don't think there is any real doubt that there will be 2023 Def Leppard/MC shows in Australia, New Zealand and Japan. Given the history above, those shows seem likely to occur in October and November 2023. Currently 28 shows have been announced for 2023. Last known show is July 6th. When discussing touring with DL, Nikki has mentioned there will be about 120 shows. 36 in 2022 + the known 28 in 2023 + let's estimate 10 for AU/NZ/Jap = 74 (38 in 2023). If AU/NZ/Jap are scheduled for Oct/Nov, what do you suppose the band will be doing July 7th - sometime in October 2023?

On Lepps website where these 2 shows are announced says More To Come soon ...
Imagine August North American shows, followed by Oz Japan.

Let's hope so! And Lepps must be headliners. Crue aren't that big here, but would be an awesome support slot. Sadly this also means a shorter set of most likely greatest hits with a couple of Diamond tracks... And anyway, the US yet something decent most years, so it's only fair to come DownUnder again!

Curious if stadiums or arenas played in Japan. 3 shows?
Looking at concert venues around Kyoto. Kobe is about 50 km from Osaka and Kyoto, has a 30000 seater soccer stadium with retractable roof. Looking at map of that area shows population of close to 20 million.
Tokyo Dome very famous indoor stadium can do 50000+ for gigs.
Sapparo Dome in the North has had many indoor concerts, can do 40000. Prefecture has 6 million population. Roof.
Fukuoka on most southern island has population of over 5 million, the island 15 million. Rolling Stones and Bon Jovi played the baseball stadium which has a roof.
Japanese baseball season finishes Sunday November 5th, so tour could start soon after though J League Soccer still going on.
If arenas guess Budokan in Tokyo. Lot of arenas in Japan.
In Auckland there is the Sparks arena, about 13000. The outdoor Mount Smart often used for gigs is 30000 capacity.
Australia has lots of arenas and stadiums, maybe do mixture depending population size. Melbourne AAMI park does 32000 concerts. Sydney Commbank 32000 for concerts. Maybe arenas for Brisbane, Adelaide. Will they travel to Perth?
As I live in Bangkok, Singapore is my best hope. The arena does 12000. There is a floating (!) outdoor concert venue which does 30000. Fort Canning amphitheater does 12000 I think.
Fingers crossed one date works for me!

A bit of pondering... Doesn't seem likely that Phil would be teasing a single show or festival. With him saying "We've actually got a really big thing, announcement to make..." during the SXSW panel yesterday it just seems bigger than that. I compiled the following info a few months ago: Tommy Lee has already revealed that a show in Kyoto is scheduled for November. Given the history of Au/NZ/Ja tours, that means it's probable that this year's shows will occur mid-to-late October through early-to-mid November. Currently the final announced show is August 18th. So.... what is Def Leppard doing between August 19th and let's say, mid-October? Yesterday during the SXSW panel Phil said November/December for Japan, which I assume also means the same for Aust/NZ. Tour history indicated those shows could begin in Nov but I assumed Oct since three of the four previous runs began in Oct. So.... a Nov/Dec run means an even longer gap between Aug 18th and whenever Aust/NZ/Jap begins.

They may be still negotiating with Aus venues. Please don't play the MCG or Marvel stadium (Melbourne). They suck for concerts. I just need dates to I can organise my work schedule!!!

Never sell out MCG or Marvel, far too big. AAMI at 32000 better fit. Or Rod Laver but that only does 14000.
If tour finishes before Thanksgiving means probably playing Melbourne mid November, weather just good enough to play outdoors?

Yeah, we've been waiting a long time for this announcement! I agree - no way they can sell-out large stadiums in Australia. Agreed on AAMI park for Melbourne - and I'd go arenas for the rest of the country - KISS w/Motley Crue was arenas in Australia.

Great to see them going back there again. I remember how bummed I was in 2008 when our departure from Tokyo to return home was just a couple of days before the two Tokyo shows. It was almost a lucky coincidence as our trip dates were set long before the tour dates were announced.

AAMI Stadium 22nd Nov - 23 Nov Robbie Williams
Marvel Unnamed event in Nov 24 Nov - 25 Nov Supercross

Good spot Smez. 22-23 November at AAMI for Robbie Williams could mean Lepps play same venue around same time. Fingers xx date is good for you.
Lot depends on who is right, Sixx saying tour finishes before Thanksgiving which is November 23 and Phil Collen, I think saying tour goes into December.
If do 10 dates, given travel distances from Japan to maybe Singapore and then onto Auckland that is probably 21 days. Or vice versa. Would suggest tour needs to finish November 20 so anyone wanting to return to US can do that just in time.

I'm wondering if this is ever going to be announced? Maybe they are trying to negotiate with Poison to come back onboard for the antipodes leg? I've said it before, Poison would be a huge draw in Australia, they've only been here once (late 80s), and are well-remembered. If they want to play bigger venues than usual, they need Poison. But Brett has been less enthusiastic about international travel than Eugene Levy!

Lot of fuss couple weeks ago which made it seem like an announcement was imminent. 6 months before tour kick off, it may make sense to announce just before Drastic is released.
If going full stadium route in Oz NZ then having strong third band like Poison makes sense. If just Sydney and Melbourne gets small stadiums in Oz NZ, rest arenas then less likely. Japan think just Lepps Motley.
Hope dates work for Cal so can see more than 1 show.

If they do a Saturday Singapore show see you there Cal. Friday or Sunday show could be excuse to take a sick day! I live in Bangkok cannot see demand in the city for both bands. Oddly there are no direct flights to Brisbane from Bangkok, which is further north than Sydney.
Saturday shows work best for me in Osaka, Tokyo, Singapore as direct flights from Bangkok.
Will see Lepps in Europe so fingers xx dates work for you Cal.

Edward, I always found that Bangkok show in 83 to be such an anomaly? Was Pyromania big in Thailand? Of course they did a proper Asian Tour in 96 when they were forced to explore new markets, but apart from that Singapore show in 2015, Asia (outside of Japan) has been ignored. Love to see them venture into India and China too. A show in BK would be great - everything is way more affordable there than Singapore.

There are a lot of Let's Get Rocked t-shirts around Bangkok, Cal. Still don't see any show in Bangkok as GnR only had about 18000 at their recent BK stadium show.
Lived in Shanghai for 18 years, would be most upset if the World Tour played China, though Crues reputation would be a possible visa issue. But China is probably keen to show to the world that it is open for business. No major foreign artists lined up for China yet, so promotors may have lots of cash to throw at foreign artists in expectation that demand is high. That said Lepps and Crue unknown in China. Bon Jovi cancelled shows as ticket sales were really bad about a decade ago.
Think tour likely to be 3 / 4 Japan, Auckland, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth. Maybe Singapore. Will have my calendar ready, small prayer said before looking!

Yes Edward, last time I was in BK I saw a lot of 'women of doom' T-shirts, I looked everywhere but couldn't find one - not even in MBK lol! Yeah, no presence in China is not really surprising I guess, the country was still largely closed off at the height of Leppard's musical success. As always, these things are in the hands of promoters.

Suncorp Brisbane 52500 capacity. Sydney 23500, but has huge field so guessing closer to 30000. Melbourne 60000 for concerts, as AFL ground has huge field.
Got to think a huge ask to sell 50000 tickets in Brisbane, only 5 million live in Queensland.
Sydney doable.
Melbourne think very hard sell that amount of tickets.
Sydney gig is a Saturday, 10 hour flight from Bangkok, Friday sick day?

Yep, I think Marvel will be hard to sell out... But I will fly to Brissy, especially if they're only doing 3 dates.
