Seemed to be like Thun crowd, people attending for a day out rather than being Leppard fans. Noisier than Thun, which given the weather was 27c and sunny in Switzerland compared to 15c and windy in Lytham is positive.
Strange to say but London noisier crowd than Lytham but that maybe because I was on the packed out floor for London and weather lot nicer. London crowds, from my experience, tend to be quiet.
Nice festival, hotel manager says been perfect weather until 4 days ago.
Band total professionals.

Back from Lytham Festival (skipped Motley Crue). Leps were great and couldn't fault them. I got there just in the nick of time and was a bit stressed with all of the traffic issues. On top of that, this followed Wembley gig yesterday and travel back from London this morning and a quick pit stop at home before onto Lytham. It was just a bit weird for them to be playing this festival to be honest, and a bit of a strange crowd. I’d absolutely agree about it being an unusual crowd. This was a bit of a first for me as I’d never seen Leppard not headlining, or at a festival. There was definitely an element of it not being a “home” crowd for the boys, evidenced by it being easier to get a bit closer with no problem, and by the lack of people filming every song and hailing to poke my eye line between a sea of iPhones to see. On the flip side you had I reckon twice a song someone squeezing/pushing past to go to get a drink or get back to their spot with a drink, fair enough it’s a festival but when there’s essentially only 2 bands on you’d think people would be more invested in watching than shuttling back and forth for beers. Seems a bit odd not to be watching or you’ve essentially paid £75 to stand in a cold field for the privilege of paying £7 a pint but each to their own! Slightly weird to see people making their way away from the stage as Photograph is playing. There was definitely a sense of the lads having to work harder to win over some of the crowd, but it was thoroughly enjoyable to see them play a different sort of gig. Exactly the same set list as Bramall Lane but again you can’t complain when everything is played so damn well and they look like they’re enjoying it so much. I know the band rave about the job the management have done in getting them reestablished higher up the pecking order in terms of being a draw for concerts, but there is definitely tweaking to be done in terms of choosing gigs ther play eg Wembley being too much of stretch and this being a bit odd as the choice for the north west gig and the venue being changed in Glasgow. But hey, it’s a bit nitpicky and I’m just thinking out loud I guess, if you’d have told me 35 years ago I’d still be seeing them live and to this standard I’d have been chuffed to bits. Having already seen Motley Crue in Sheffield I was happy to give them a miss and head for the train home. Would I rather Leppard were doing arenas and playing 2 hours on their own without any of the coheadlining stuff? Of course. Was this still fantastic and really enjoyable? Of course! Biggest cheer was for Rick Allen, and was kind of weird which songs went over well. Animal and LGR obviously did, but where I was people seemed really into Foolin and This Guitar. Great to see the usual smattering of all ages in Lep t shirts, can’t make Glasgow so that’s my lot for this tour.

Paul1982 we might have been on same train as I left on the Blackpool train, last train of the day.
Sting, Lionel Richie and a lot of big names play Lytham Festival, which is a Live Nation event. I think Leppard unlucky with the weather (as I look out of the hotel window in Blackpool it is raining and very windy, 13c feels like) which may have changed crowd reaction a bit, though they didn't seem very hardcore from where I was. If they had played say Bolton Football Stadium unlikely they would have sold 35000 tickets as did 32000 in Sheffield.
Across the 4 UK concerts Leppard will have played to 110000+ people, closing to 72000+ people, the vast majority more interested in Leppard. Live Nation sent email this morning saying nearly 100000 people saw the 5 days of concerts so maybe yesterday had nearer to 20000, as capacity is 20000.

Paul's thoughts on everything here mirror mine. Certainly, while Wembley has been the show that has received the attention for strange decisions (cost, seating etc), I think it's distracted from the much smaller and confusing choice of Lytham Festival. The more I think about it, the more completely ridiculous a choice this has been by Leppard's management (or whoever it is that makes these decisions). What's crucial here, is that Lytham isn't a rock/metal festival. Its essentially a local fair and the type of thing my mum or dad would go to hoping that mighr hear a song on the radio on a Sunday morning. It's largely made up of people who know radio hits and are not necessarily 'into' music or fans of any type. The fact that Lionel Ritchie is one of the headliners illustrates exactly what type of even this is. As a consequence even songs we may consider hits and may be known by a rock audience at a normal rock festival but who are not Leppard fans really may as well be B side deep cuts off a Japanese single from the X era! I'd guess about 1000 people on that crowd knew Photograph for example. The lads were consumate professionals though and it was interesting seeing Joe having to work the crowd in a different way. He did really well. Finally, I may be 'projecting' here but I swear I could see them all (Joe and Phil in particular)looking eachother in a slightly bemused but good humoured way at the strangeness of the whole thing. Well done lads! Back from Lytham Festival (skipped Motley Crue). Leps were great and couldn't fault them. I got there just in the nick of time and was a bit stressed with all of the traffic issues. I really wish they'd played one of the large football stadia in the Northwest, but I guess that may have affected Sheffield sales?
I'm afraid this tour just didn't grab me. I'd already forked out for Maiden and Kiss in a similar time period and I couldn't justify this one too. I saw Crue in 2015 and said farewell then & I have no doubt that come 2024 the Leps will be doing a UK Arena tour (6 years since the Hysteria and more tour). Now had they brought Poison over with them I'd have made an effort to get to Sheffield, London or Lytham but alas in this current financial environment I have to be a little more picky. Sadly Leps/Crue missed out this time.

I have to say. That is a very eclectic line up over the course of the festival.

Good show by the Lepps in tricky weather, very professional as always, they came on about 45 mins late, which would have put Crue late as well, didn't hang around for them and many others left with us. Lytham is a very relaxed show, with an eclectic mix most years, more general music fans than die hard rock fans. We were stood with people who had never been to a Lepp gig ever, but they won most over. Seemed a short set also. On a side note Sav's lad looks a decent guitarist and the band did a good job considering they have only been together about a year. Expect to hear more from them.
