Yeah, great song. Not sure that makes it a good choice for the next single though? But hey, I am no expert!

If anyone happens to know when the album/commentary will replay, let me know so I can try to record it (and chop out the songs). For the record and to share here, of course. I would rewind and record it now but there's something else I need to record coming up soon.

I'm in the dislike group. There's a good song in there but have to be honest that the Country vibes just make cringe. Krauss does add a nice touch to it though so it's not her that bothers me. Have to agree that most of the response I've seen hasn't been very favorable towards that one, which is understandable too as it sounds nothing like what most people expect Def Leppard to sound like. I've opened up to variety but guess I haven't opened up that far yet 😀 On the flip side though, I totally get why it would be a single and it'll probably get airplay on Country radio and turn into a hit with crossover appeal. Personally, I'd much rather see like SOS Emergency or Gimme A Kiss as the next single. Hopefully those songs get single treatment at some point and don't turn into forgotten album tracks. Either way, it's a fantastic album! Boy are most people on FB gonna be upset. Haven't seen much positive feedback on this one. I love it.

A few more listens.
This is a stunning album. Period. End of story.
I found Def Leppard as a 10 year old in 1987 when Animal came out of my radio and the band essentially became the soundtrack for my life. Admittedly I may also cite Pyromania as the greatest rock album ever but I am mostly a later day Viv era lineup Leppard fan. As such this album is easily the best by this lineup and I was a massive fan of the 2015 album. DSH sounds like a band completely comfortable in its skin. Confident that it has nothing left to prove but still hungry enough to still want to show the world why they are the greatest. The diversity of this album is testament to just how immensely talented this band is. There is a swagger to this album that seems to have been absent for a little while. Joe sounds amazing, the detail in production is killer (siren and the Morse code bit in SOS Emergency!), the atmosphere in Open Your Eyes, the bubbly rock pop of All We Need, the the crunch of TWYW, the most complete ballad they have done in ages in Angel's and so many more... wow, just wow.

I went to 3 Targets, the last of which was a 100 mile round-trip by itself, to get the red and yellow version. I hope these guys appreciate me. I got my email today that uDiscover finally shipped my order today. I got the six-item bundle. Now begins the wait. I'm going to have to get the Japanese CD too for the bonus tracks. I got emails today that all of my vinyl and my Japanese CD's have all been shipped. My postal person is going to very busy next week. Kestrel

It has that modern pop country feel and the lyrics are pretty relatable. Not to mention it’s chorus is catchy as anything . I prefer that to This Guitar

Overall I think this is a great album, think I still prefer the last one to this, but I feel like this album will warm up to me the more I listen to it. Unbreakable is definitely one of my favorites, the whole “unbreakable, unshakable, unbreakable, unshakable” part of the chorus is so catchy! Not sure how I feel about This Guitar, part of me likes it and the other part doesn’t, don’t think it’s Alison Krauss, it’s something in the guitar work that’s just not working for me. And I hate to be negative but does Goodbye for Good This Time feel very disconnected as a whole song? I absolutely love the first and last portions of the song but that guitar solo in the middle just does not belong in this song in my opinion. Feels like two totally different songs that were connected there, would have been one of my favorites on the album I think had they not included it in there. Excited to listen to the Avant-garde version of the song, maybe that will change my mind on it.
I look forward to listening to all the songs throughout the weekend!!

I had a major case of deja vu with Unbreakable. I'm sure I heard the chorus in a dream I had in the last year. Freaking wierd.

I honestly can't believe how good this album is! The fact that this band is still making songs this good when NO ONE, I mean NO ONE from the 80's is making songs this good is crazy!!!! I like the three singles, but the best songs on this album for me are SOS Emergency, U Rok Mi, All We Need and Unbreakable. All We Need is SOOOOOO Good! Every song is good, but those stand out for me. I am kind of disappointed in Gimme a Kiss. I expected more from that song. But I really love Angels (can't help you now) We didn't get a Scar, Gods of War or Wings of an Angel on this, but I can hear all those songs in this album. I am sure the other songs will grow on me and I can't wait to be in the 11th row at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, MO on July 19!

So here are my thoughts on the new album after 5 play throughs.
Lots of good traditional Def Leppard material, particularly the rockers which I won't go into here. Instead I want to talk about the other tracks where they pushed their boundaries.
This Guitar - I love this, beautiful guitar work, soulful
Goodbye for Good This Time - sticks out too much. Good song but too Down n Outz, ruins flow of the album
Angels (Can’t Help You Now) - Again a lot like Down n Outz but they make it work better within the context of a Def Leppard album. It gets the balance right between keeping it Def Leppard but pushing themselves in a new direction.
Lifeless - Same as This Guitar, great effort, soulful, beautiful
From Here To Eternity - oh my God is this not a re-write of Kings of Oblivion and has all the same faults? Too Queen. Just yuck.
Slang was awesome for many reasons, but the main reason is they pushed themselves but kept it a cohesive listening experience and all the songs were of high quality.
This album reminds of X. Not in the poppy sense, but in that 80% of it is Viv era Def Leppard, and 20% trying something different. So it feels like X disjointed at times.
One last complaint, Kick is very high quality, but I'm tiring of the 70s clappy songs, they've flogged it this trick too many times.
But all the tracks I don't mention are excellent, and the production is the highest it's been since X which is very welcome. I'd put it on a par with X, not as good as Euphoria or Slang, better than S/T and SFTSL.
Still love 12 of the 15 songs so very happy.

For me, it moves from good to great when you just remove the tracks you don't care for There's 3 tracks I just don't care for. This Guitar, Goodbye For Good and Angels. This Guitar is just too Country for me. And I just dont care for so much piano and orchestration in Def Leppard songs with the other ballads. For me, it just flows so much better with those tracks out and not killing the flow. So easy enough to chop them out of my spotify playlist! The only other one I'm undecided on is From Here to Eternity. I kind of like it but kind of don't at the same time. Not sure which was I want to go with it. It's decent, but the whole Queen/Kings of the World vibe kinda annoys me. But its an interesting song. That said, I love the rest and for me it's some of their best stuff in a long time. Even the songs I don't care for are well done, just not my cup of tea. The one thing I wish they had here though was a good power ballad. I wish they'd do something like a BOTH or Too Late For Love type tune again as we haven't had something like those songs in quite awhile. Excellent album though and lots of good, melodic, catchy tunes here which is basically what I want from Def Leppard. First impressions. Good, not great. Again too much filler. Probably revise after a few listens though. Unbreakable IMO is the weakest track on the record, they should have left that off, and i know there are people who are loving it, its just not for me and Angels is another one, just not my cup of tea. But everything else pretty good, so 13 out of 15 for me is a win

A lot of great guitar work. Anyone have a list of whos doing the solos on each track? I was going to suggest that, the only notable solos i can remember from Viv and i have only listened to the record twice are the first solos in Lifeless and From here to Eternity, also apparantly he plays slide guitar on one of the tracks , i didnt pick that up, anyone know?

had album on constant rotation for past 24 hours, definately growing on me, songs moving into the like category.
take what you want is my favourite, cant take the 17 year old away. its a banger! think they went with correct first 3 singles. kick will be immense in stadiums. fire it up classic lepps, stretching out.
like both krauss songs, grew up with a northern irish mother who loved her dolly parton, kenny rogers, hank williams 8 track cassettes in the car. big fan of miranda lambert, she is top of my bucketlist of artists never seen. can see this guitar getting some play on some country stations.
unbreakable, u rok mi (like my funky lepps), open your eyes, all we need hit the spot.
the other songs have grown on me. the tendency to add a verse after the second chorus takes away from songs. some songs i find some parts work better than others.
there isnt a song i actively dislike.
great production and sound. a band reborn after the triumphant 2015 album. 75% of the album is unmistakely leppard, there is some experimentation which mostly works.
at this stage in the game for leppard to be delivering 2 such splendid albums is a gift.

Spot on exactly my thoughts on the songs. Some of the songs you did not list, I like the entire song but not the title part. The words Liquid Dust ( love the phonetics of it, not the words) does not fit for me, The SOS part seems cluttered. Remember everyone they could sing Mary had a little lamb and I would listen to it 5 million times, so this is really being picky about things.

I think I'm basically feeling the same as you for a lot of the songs you mention with the exception of This Guitar as I'm just way out on that one. For some reason I'm okay with Lifeless but This Guitar just makes me cringe. I think a little bit of it might be the placement as the 4th track on the album too. It just really kills the momentum for me and like it rolling from TWYW, Kick & Fire It Up right into SOS Emergency much better. Then Liquid Dust provides a nice change of pace after SOS. Feel same about Goodbye for Good. Again, much prefer the track list going from U Rock Mi into All We Need without the diversion and sort of killing the fun vibes. By the time Angels rolls around, I think at that point I feel ready for a ballad. Like you say, I think Angels just feels more like a Def Leppard song to me with the harmonies and such and it strikes a better balance than GFGTT. I also think I enjoy things more just having one orchestrated type tune than 2 as two kind of becomes overkill for me. So if I'm picking one to leave in, it would be Angels. And I think I've gotten to the same place as you on From Here to Eternity. It's basically some combination of Kings of Oblivion, Pearl of Euphoria, Blind Faith and Kings of the World and I'm not a fan of any of those eclectic type songs. I think I like Eternity slightly more than those songs I mentioned but still struggling to get through it. Basically everything else is awesome for me though and the clapping doesn't bother me. I'm loving the fun, catchy, melodic tunes on this and for me that makes it easily better than the last two albums where I didn't get those same vibes nearly as much as I get them here. I don't know if I've really sorted out where it fits amongst Slang, Euphoria and X yet. It's definitely a bit more disjointed than those albums but at the same time feels like some combination of those but it still has a unique/fresh feel. It might be the newness of it all, but I do kind of feel like I might like this album more than all 3 of those albums (especially after I remove the 3 tunes I don't care for). It's very close though and probably will just depend on my mood on a specific day lol. I also have to add that I think I've seen way more positive reactions to this album on the sites and music groups I visit than I remember in quite some time. Yeah, there's the people who want Pyromania and Hysteria again that still aren't happy but those people are never happy lol. Overall it just feels like more people are digging this one to me but maybe that's just me seeing what I want to see so I don't know Either way, they've done something great here that proudly sits in their catalog! So here are my thoughts on the new album after 5 play throughs. Lots of good traditional Def Leppard material, particularly the rockers which I won't go into here.
