I agree. Feel the same way that it has a lot of Slang through X vibes which is great with me too. I haven't decided yet if it's my favorite album from this current lineup as I need a few more listens, but I'm feeling like it probably is. It's just fantastic and I love the big sound and production with lots of cool hooks, riffs, harmonies, etc. I love the "big", melodic rock side of Leppard with tunes like Dangerous, Promises, etc and they've delivered a good amount of that kind of stuff here. Yeah, I'd love a full album of tunes like that but there's a handful of those kinds of tunes here which is great. To be fair, there's 2-3 tunes I don't care much for and that I'm going to eliminate from my playlist. Namely, I like the flow of the album a lot more with This Guitar and Goodbye for Good eliminated as those tunes just kill the momentum for me. It just think it's a really killer start when it goes TWYW, Kick, Fire It Up, SOS Emergency, Liquid Dust, U Rok Mi. And then I like it rolling into All We Need, Open Your Eyes and Gimme a Kiss. There's no doubt this is awesome though no matter how you want to shake it out and I can see why they're so proud and excited. It basically feels like a Def Leppard album they might've made 20-25 years ago or something but at the same time has a fresh feel to it. So the Quantum Leap comment definitely has merit IMO. First playthrough thoughts. Joe is right it is a quantum leap for the band. It feels it has alot of X and Slang vibes to me which is great because I love both records. Very cool record.

I agree. Feel the same way that it has a lot of Slang through X vibes which is great with me too. Yeah, I was reluctant to make the Slang comparisons because people might have thought it was musically similar, and it isn't. But it certainly felt to have a thematic feel in the same way that Slang does, and the change from Adrenalize to Slang is in a similar ballpark to the scale of the change from Def Leppard to DSH I think. There was a song on the 2nd half in particular which had X vibes. It also reminded me of Energized from DL, but a good version (I am not a massive fan of Energized). Could have been Unbreakable by the sounds of it. Really pleased you like the album. Can't wait until Midnight to listen to it again.

Really annoyed that this is only available to You Tube Premium subscribers. Yes you can get a free trial but then you'll have the hassle of canceling.

Definitely Unbreakable. There's just a spot early in that song where the effects get a little poppy. It almost loses me but it's only brief and then the song sort of gets reeled back into a classic sounding rocker and sounds good the rest of the way. I too don't care for Energized and was a little cringed when I heard it but the rest of the song recovers nicely IMO I agree. Currently 12:51am here in Aus. Album is out on streaming services. Thought I'd give myself a random one song preview before I go to sleep. Will have a full listen tomorrow.
After putting the album on shuffle, the winner was....U Rok Mi...
Yikes, I was slightly dreading this one since I first read the title. U no wot? I Was genuinely surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Funky little acoustic intro/verse with some hooky vocals from Joe before Sav cuts in with some bass. The chorus reenters typical Leppard territory with big guitars and bigger vocals while there's a nice riffy bridge with some backing vocals that reminded me a bit of Euphoria's '21st Century Sha La La Girl'
Good first impression! Looking forward to listening to the rest later on!

Also got the email that the talklive signed CD has been shipped. Now I've got fingers crossed that the signed insert doesn't get all bent up in the mail or that my postman doesn't crease it all up stuffing it in my mailbox. Woke up to emails from CD Japan and Talkshop Live. Japanese CD with bonus tracks and signed CD have been shipped!

First listen through last night, will definitely need more listens for a proper assessment, but initial thoughts are...wow. Amazing how you can hype yourself way up, and STILL be blown away.
Was late at night, so I don't remember some of the last songs on the album as well as I was very tired, but in my opinion, no fillers on here. I remember thinking some songs felt like they could've been moved around on the album for a better overall flow, particularly This Guitar feels out of place in between Fire it Up and SOS.
Sooo much to digest here. Eager to listen to each song many more times and excited for everyone else who hasn't already to get to experience another great addition to their catalogue.

Do not dread it! I kind of had the same feelings of apprehension from the title but really dig the tune. Just another fun, catchy tune with the signature harmonies that sound like Def Leppard Currently 12:51am here in Aus. Album is out on streaming services. Well just got Walmarts exclusive at my front door. Should have bought the CD as no record player. Ha.
Oh well, I am not willing to give up going to a store to get the CD yet. My previous post on "Def Leppard" did make the first listen not as enjoyable as the previous albums since Andrenalize.
Something fun of being at record store at 12am to get, then get home, listen to last release as read booklet/Liner notes, then listen to new album.
With Adrenalize working 60hrs+/wk plus full load at college so first listen was 1 min of evert song then Fast Forward on tape and then work. Uhg
I have 9 yr old daughter tomorrow as still working from home (mostly) as last day of school is today and she will leave me alone. Told her if she interrupts my first listen, she has to go to the Def leppard concert. She screamed nooooooo, i said then leave me along. Ha ha ha. Wife also knows divorce in the works if she interiors me. Ha ha ha ha ha. Luckily her last day teaching is Fri.

It's 9.30am here in Sydney Australia and DSH has hit the shelves. It has now been on Apple Music for about 9 hours.
I'm halfway through my third listen and I think I'm going to have to let it settle for a bit before I can go into track by track because there's just SO MUCH to take in!!
Initial thoughts:
- DSH is HUGE!!! As in, it's like everything is on a massive scale. Bigger than Ben Hur. In places I feel like I'm listening to a movie soundtrack. They've talked in the past about Star Wars for the ears, DSH is Avengers Endgame compared to say the independent art flick that was Sparkle Lounge.
- It sounds brilliant. Production is spot-on. Joe sounds amazing.
- So many textures!! Just when you think there can't be any more ways to make a guitar sound, or a gang of vocals, they come up with something new. It's cohesive, but there isn't a single sound style that runs through the whole album
- Some genuinely beautiful moments
- I think this is going to appeal to the more mature listener. If you want to bang your head and pump your fist, you'll be able to do that in places but there's a lot you may not appreciate.
- I've always loved the impact a female vocal can have within a song. This is no different. Alison Krauss definitely brings something to the table.
- There's some absolutely classic modern-day Lep here in amongst all the diversity. There's examples here you'd put up alongside Promises as Def Leppard 101 post-Adrenalize
- I hear some Slang influences, but with DL 2015 production. The best of two very brilliant worlds.
I've had a few lump-in-throat moments while listening. I'm thrilled. I'm impressed. I'm proud. There's so much more vitality here than you might expect from a band celebrating 45 years.
