Boooo Yeah I get why they put LIG in for FIU. Would like their pool of songs to be a bit bigger than the same songs coming in but I’ll be happy to see LIG in a couple weeks. Love Promises being added. Really don’t care to hear TSB in full and it has not been the big singalong they apparently hoped it would be. That’s a big time downgrade for me. Wouldn’t mind them nixing the acoustic bit all together in favor of adding something more upbeat like one older song and one other new one (SOS/Gimme A Kiss). But with This Guitar likely being a single sometime, I guess they’re stuck with that one for now.

I am 1 week away from my first show so I'm torn about the set changing.
On one hand I'm super excited that they added PROMISES! Really hoping this stays in the set moving forward. Given my initial reaction to FIRE IT UP I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm equally upset they dropped this! I thought it translated well live and I was excited to see it.
I'm also frustrated that TSB gets the nod in favor of HYENSSB. Strange to have 0 ADRENALIZE songs represented ever let alone its 30th anniversary.
I wonder how committed they are to the changes or if we will see more fluctuations?
Now I wish I would've gone to Chicago.

Hummmm..wonder WHY the change, no offense?
Felt confident NO changes were going to be made.
Wonder if Let it Go got slower?

Feel about the same. Promises over Excitable is a great swap. I love Let It Go so love seeing it in the set....but bummed seeing Fire It Up booted. Wish they'd have booted This Guitar or TSB instead. Kinda bummed seeing HYENSSB bunped out to since that was a cool deeper cut. Totally understandable changes though and think they definitely added some juice to the set. I'd think this set would appeal more to the a big portion of the crowds at these shows. I am 1 week away from my first show so I'm torn about the set changing. Hummmm..wonder WHY the change, no offense? Felt confident NO changes were going to be made. Wonder if Let it Go got slower? Rob If I had to guess.... - Opening with two brand new songs probably didn't create the hot start to the show they would like to see from the crowd, so doing a new one followed by a classic rocker would keep the energy going from their entrance. I've seen other artists do this, kick off with a new tune then go right into something more familiar. - A three-song acoustic set in a stadium tends to bring the energy down, so they chopped it to two, and I would say TSB is better known than HYENSSB, even though the latter was a big radio hit back in the day. - Promises is probably the biggest post-Retroactive original Def Leppard tune in the U.S., definitely far more well known than Excitable. Personally I like them not ignoring their 2000's output.

After being to a show, my opinion is just that an opinion. When crue is on you see the hands in the air and fist raised. When Lep is on its a lot of people sitting and watching. I think Leppard has the bigger radio hits, and sound way better. That just does not always generate the energy in a stadium " rock show" While you cannot understand a freaking thing Vince sings (use that loosely) it doesn't matter. The backing tracks and girls make up for the singing part and they play the old hard rocking tunes that everyone in the stadium knows! This is very much a HND, Pyro, and some hysteria crowd. Now if they want to play newer stuff they have plenty that fits that mold. FX love, Tear it Down, WOA, Day after Day, etc.... But as I have said before, if you want to hold your own with crue, better dust-off Ded Flatbird! I love this band, but I was literally asked by non Lep fans why are they not playing the harder songs, and all I could do is shrug.

Considering that Billy Joel played this same venue just the day before, I'm totally amazed at the fact these stage crews managed to break down Billy Joel's stage and put up Leppard's stage in less than 16 hours. Truly amazing.

(Til You Drop) is probably the only track that they could sub in that would probably get a big reaction from the type of crowd this is drawing, maybe Women. If they plated out Wasted or Another Hit And Run, it isn't like the whole stadium would go nuts (and I love those tunes). As for Motley having "hands in the air and fists raised".... that wasn't the case in Orlando. On that night, and with that crowd, you wondered why Poison wasn't higher on the bill.

Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard, Poison, Joan Jett rock 50 songs at Comerica Park
By Edward Pevos DETROIT - You’ll probably have to speak up a little bit to anyone you know who was at Comerica Park for this concert. Four titans of rock performed a marathon of 50 songs at the home of the Detroit Tigers on Sunday, July 10. First up to the plate, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts reminded fans that they love rock and roll. Batting in the 2 hole, Poison and Bret Michaels gave fans nothing but a good time. Hitting third, Def Leppard put fans in a bit of rock hysteria. And battling cleanup, Mötley Crüe sent people home sweet home. This concert was two years in the making as it was postponed in both 2020 and 2021 due to COVID. Rock fans finally got what they wanted, a full day in the hot sun filled with one rock hit after another. “This is the party I needed right here,” Poison frontman Bret Michaels enthusiastically told the crowd a few songs into the band’s set. “If you see this look on my face, I can’t stop smiling right now. I’ve been waiting two years to come here to party with everybody.” “Here at last. Sorry for the delay,” Def Leppard frontman Joe Elliott shouted to the crowd between songs. “We’re finally here after two long years of waiting. Thanks for waiting for us.” “It’s been a long time, but you’re back and we’re back! Yeah!” Mötley Crüe lead singer Vince Neil said to a big roar from the crowd between songs. “You haven’t heard these songs in a long time. Promise man, we’re going to give it to you tonight.” JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTSGet to this rock party early or you’ll miss this Rock and Roll Hall of Famer perform. The doors to the stadium opened at 3:30 p.m. and the band took the stage an hour later as thousands upon thousands of people were still waiting in the very long security lines to get in. Jett performed 12 songs in just under an hour including her biggest hits, “Crimson & Clover,” “I Love Rock n’ Roll,” “I Hate Myself For Loving You” and “Bad Reputation.” She also performed some songs from The Runaways. POISONHe says he’s still not 100%, but Bret Michaels still partied like a rock star on the Comerica Park stage performing each Poison song as if it were his first time ever singing them. It’s hard to match his enthusiasm and energy and he did not disappoint despite a health scare which sent him to the hospital on June 30. “Thank you all for the incredible amount of well wishes and prayers coming out of Detroit. I got a little stupid sick with the diabetes. I didn’t care what they had to shoot me up with. I was getting on this stage today if I had to crawl out here. This show was happening tonight.” Michaels’ voice sounded a bit rough, the audio on his mic was a bit low and the band only performed seven songs, but all things considered, fans didn’t mind. The setlist featured “Look What The Cat Dragged In,” “Ride The Wind,” “Talk Dirty To Me,” “Your Mama Don’t Dance,” “Fallen Angel,” “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” and “Nothin’ But A Good Time.” DEF LEPPARDDef Leppard and Mötley Crüe alternate who goes on last city to city. This was the band from England’s turn to go third and they gave fans everything they had waited for with a few songs from their new album and mostly hits. The band, Rick Savage, Rick Allen, Phil Collen and Vivian Campbell were tight all night behind Joe Elliott who sounded strong on lead vocals, one night after surprising fans on stage with Billy Joel. Taking the stage around 7:30 and rocking for about 90 minutes, the band performed favorites, “Animal,” “Foolin’”, “Armageddon It,” “Love Bites,” “Two Steps Behind,” “Rocket,” “Bringing’ On The Heartbreak,” “Hysteria,” “Pour Some Sugar On Me,” “Rock of Ages” and “Photograph.” “See you next time. And, there will be a next time,” Elliott said as the band left the stage. MOTLEY CRUEA few fans left after Leppard’s set as Crüe took the stage about 9:30 p.m. and performed 15 songs until just before 11:00 p.m. Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee brought the energy and Neil wasn’t far behind, but the lead singer’s main instrument was drowned out by the band for most of the songs. The crowd still gave the band a loud ovation after each song in a setlist which included, “Shout at the Devil,” “Live Wire,” “The Dirt,” “Home Sweet Home,” “Dr. Feelgood,” “Girls, Girls, Girls,” “Primal Scream” and “Kickstart My Heart.” This may be the last time Crüe ever performs in Michigan and other than the low vocals on Vince’s mic, the group brought plenty of energy and played the songs fans wanted to hear. Six and a half hours and 50 songs later, fans got everything they wanted at this rock marathon, including ringing ears, sun burns and hoarse voices and they wouldn’t have it any other way. Source

Crue is Heavy Metal and Lep is Rock/Hard Rock. Hard to compare anything with these two bands. I was at the Citi Field show. It was very obvious who the Crue fans were. Not the same caliber as Lep fans. Doesn’t matter who sits and who is pumping their fists. Crue songs are stadium/arena shaking tunes. Hence the fist pumps. Lep songs are just great tunes to enjoy the show to. And some people may even dance to them. Again, two different categories. But it somehow works that their touring together.

Attitude or energy might be a better fit for choosing songs. But sticking to tracks non-fans might know - Women, Don't Shoot Shotgun, Wasted, Rock! Rock!, are just a few possible alternates. All that said, I also think it depends on the crowd and the area. Some crowds might more heavily favour Crue and others Def Leppard. I've liked the set list as it's been so far and hope FIU makes it back in by Toronto alongside the other new songs. The concert write ups I've seen here certainly seem to favour Def Leppard's performance overall.
