Excerpt: After a few desultory minutes, Def Leppard was joined onstage by May — brandishing his trademark red guitar — Hoffs and various Zombies and, surprisingly, Mott the Hoople frontman Ian Hunter, for a finale of Mott’s 1972 hit “All the Young Dudes,” which was penned by David Bowie and has only a tangential connection to the evening’s honorees (May and Def Leppard performed it at Freddie Mercury’s tribute concert in 1992). And with that, a few minutes after midnight, the show wrapped. SourceDef Leppard was joined by various Zombies. I laughed way too hard at that.

I'm so happy I got to see history in the making last night! I admit that I, too, was teary-eyed when Rick started getting choked up by Joe's speech. I can only imagine what was going through Rick's mind at that moment. I'd been talking with my sister, trying to guess what the finale would be. I was thinking possibly a Queen song, since Bohemian Rhapsody was released this year. I wasn't disappointed that it wasn't a Queen song, though. I was happy they brought Brian May and Ian Hunter on stage for All the Young Dudes.

What a great night, and being a member of the forum is the next best thing to bring there. Thank you all, and especially CindyJ and our forum admins, for your diligent work and sharing so much with us. I think that what we got to see is better than what will be on HBO! Just such fun to be part of it. Thank you ever so much!

The speeches: Brian, wow..I can tell both Brian and Joe have a great friendship and it shows..really loving words
The band, is it me or was Rick's applause very similar to the download show a number of years back..extremely moving and Steve and Pete..and kudos to Peter mensch and cliff Bernstein mentions..they helped their careers early on.
Just an awesome end to a whirlwind week..
Was gonna ask if anyone knew if any family members were there and by the photos, there were 😀.
And the jam session..totally cool to see.

Thanks for sharing all the vids and pictures from friday night.
It was a proud moment for the band for sure, but in some weird way a proud moment for me as a fan. Ive been a huge fan for so long and even thou i have little to zero interest in their private lives i feel that, thru their music, that i know them.
Being a fan of such a great group of human beings is an sweet feeling on nights such as friday night.
Thanks again for creating the fourm and for all the work you guys put in.
